  1. The fact that St. Bonaventure, a program that’s located in damn near Siberia with an endowment and resources that are much much less than SLU’s, is 10-3 and has had the same amount of success in the past decade should embarrass every single person in charge in Midtown.

As for a new AD?  Maybe the head assistant at JMU that AD seems to be killing it right now.  First year in D1 makes a bowl game and hosted Game Day.  Basketball team is undefeated.  Would need to see how their collective works (if they have one), game day operations, fund raising and marketing. But they're not some traditional D1 power and are thriving right now after their transition. The longtime JMU AD is retiring and they're looking to hire a new 1.

    Strategic planning, fund raising experience

First year in FBS. FCS is also D1.

Grinch  ..... let's look at the bright side.  This team could actually be fun to watch the rest of the year!  That's what I'm excited about.  There's 352 Division I basketball teams ...... you do know that almost none of them will ever reach the level of Duke, UNC, KU, Kentucky, et al ?

Forget those four, they aren't on the level of VCU and Dayton. They should've been on that level with competent leadership from the top down many moons ago. One of them has a good chance to move to a great conference in the near future.

Seems to be a very snowflake attitude.  Buck up buttercup.  You are supposedly a fan of a mid major basketball team.  All you have is hope.  You know going in that each season will likely end in "disappointment."  If you need to protect your fragile feelings from disappointment then I suggest you become a fan of a team like Duke or Kansas.

I really do not understand how some people doomwatch their favorite team.

"Accept mediocrity and like it !"

Let me preface this by saying I think SLU should fire Travis Ford (and Chris May) absent some kind of incredible run the rest of the season.  I'm not privy to the financial aspects of it and, while disappointing, I could see how that may change what actually happens.

That being said, I'm in agreement that whining about Ford here, on a Podcast, on Twitter, etc. has become tedious.  It has sucked some joy out of just watching Billiken basketball & Billiken victories.

I'd really hate to think that because MMP did good numbers after the SIUC debacle, they've decided to chase listeners by continuing to bash Ford.  I don't think that's the case / I hope that's not the case.  I've just seen so often the sports media playing to the lowest common denominator for ratings that I worry.

I also don't have an issue with Ford said / didn't really think he was calling out fans by talking about the negative comments.  I'd get it if he specifically came out and said "The Midtown Madness guys are just full of negative comments & have nothing better to do".  He's just using a perceived negative bogeyman / internet troll type to motivate the players.  Basically telling them to ignore the noise & go prove "the haters" wrong.  He is not calling out fans specifically & we (including myself here) all think he should be fired regardless of what he says or whether the team beats Hofstra at home.  Trying to turn it into something more is just piling on Ford when it isn't necessary or it is having "main character" syndrome thinking Ford is talking about you specifically because you've made negative comments online about him.

What SLU fans have said pale in friggin comparison to what Okie state and UMass have said about his coaching (lack thereof) over the years. He should consider himself lucky.

And A-Bomb’s right regarding unforced errors by SLU. They’re proving each year that they no longer belong at the D1 level. If any of you want to catch feelings for what I said, then tough, because you know it’s true.

To TheA_Bomb I will now leave this thread and let the circle jerk with the other nattering nabobs of negativism continue while the silent majority of Billiken fans realize this will be taken care of after the season by higher powers than a bunch of MBMs.  When it is taken care of by those higher powers, please feel free to take all the credit.

The silent majority is the reason mediocrity has reign supreme at SLU for as long as most of us have been alive.

Well I appreciate your loyalty and commitment to the Billikens (that's why we all come here) even if I don't agree with your methods or think that they are necessary.  I think changes will happen.  The people who the changes are going to happen to might even realize that they will occur.  If these changes are already going to occur, I just think that your actions are adding unnecessary embarrassment to folks who, regardless of the results, were giving their best effort at making a program we love successful. Did it work out? No.  Were they really, truly trying to make it work out?  Yes.  Are their transgressions worthy of the public embarrassment you are attempting to put them through? No.

    LOL

    Tough....HIT

This is Division I Men's basketball. A division Saint Louis University has been in for well over a century.  They're stewards of it. It's loooooong past time to act like they're a part of it. Otherwise, go fill out an application east of Compton Ave (no offense).

I actually have the newspaper of the announcement of the Rams moving to StL.  I don't have it for the 2000 Superbowl win (but I do have the Sports Illustrated issue).

I remain a Rams fan.  I followed the team for 10 years when I was away in St. Louis, so it is not all that different now.  Additionally, I want a football team - but don't want to be a bandwagoner.

Fair enough and I appreciate the loyalty……only it wasn’t given in return from the hillbilly nor the franchise near the end.

Great frame ups. I only had a PD subscription for one year, the 99-00 school year. Boy I wish I would have saved RAMS WIN SUPER BOWL, SLU WINS CUSA TOURNEY, and BLUES WIN PRESIDENTS CUP. It was a great year in the Lou.

And Nelly bursting onto the music scene. From Spoonball to the Super Bowl loss to the Patriots, St. Louis felt like it was the center of the universe.
