  1. I'm not going to do a deep dive, but Duquesne's only loss is to Notre Dame, #19, and they have a win over Radford, #22. Our big win is over Seton Hall, who is ranked 85. My guess is that our wins over bottom dwellers might not be as high as Duquesne 'buy wins'.
  2. Let's hear it for Fordham, who at 5-1 is doing their best to uphold the honor of the A10. If only others would follow........ (are you listening George Mason and St. Joe?)
  3. Well, if shooting underhanded is good for French, why not the rest of the team too. Bess is hitting a very nice 85% (no changes needed), but Gordon, Goodwin, Wiley and Thatch are all below 60%, and Foreman is at 67%. Isabell at 70% could use some help also. If shooting underhanded boosts the average by 10%, I say go for it.
  4. This game will present an interesting match-up. Butler starts four wings and one big. McDermott is listed as a forward at 6'6", but he is a three point shooter. Either French or Gordon will have to guard him, and that means pulling away from the paint. Butler plays 7 double minutes, plus two others averaging just under 10. But like the Bills, only 7 players are counted on the score. Butler has two 6'10" bigs, but normally they only play one at a time. Occasionally you will see both, but that's not the typical lineup. Both McDermott and Jorgensen are hitting nearly 45% from the three. That makes arc defense, not helping in the paint, critical. Whomever guards McDermott must stay on him when Baldwin or Thompson penetrates. We likely will play a 4 guard lineup a significant amount of time. Baldwin is their main man, averaging just under 20 ppg. He is only hitting 25% from the three this year, but is a career 33% shooter. Whomever has him (assume Bess/Thatch) has to stay up on him and cut off the dribble, and get help in the lane. Their PG Thompson is not much of a scorer but has a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. So perhaps Isabell can limit his damage. The Bulldogs are only +1 on the boards. That has a lot to do with their lineups. Baldwin, at 6'0", is their leading rebounder. He is also excellent at grabbing the board and turning it into a fast break. The Bills need to absolutely control the boards. For me, the key is to smother Baldwin. If Bess, with 6 inches on him, can stop Kamar and hold him to something well under his average, and if McDermott doesn't go off from the arc, this game is winable. Let Jorgensen get his 20, but hold the others down.
  5. The SWIC 2018-19 roster lists him at 6'6" and 195 lb. Other reports have him at 6'7", but I haven't seen anything north of 195 lb. Perhaps he can put on 5 to 10 lb of muscle over the summer.
  6. You do realize Perkins was a 2star in high school, right? So are you coming around realizing stars aren’t that important? https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/javonte-perkins
  7. Well, it didn't take long. French has broken into the top 15 in Career Blocks, sitting tied at 14th with 71. He is 2 behind Anthony Bonner.
  8. A medical red shirt waiver would be the only scenario where he would be back. I believe 8 games played is the magic number after which you can't file for a medical waiver (and hope one is granted). We all hope that Bess doesn't have to obtain a medical red shirt waiver due to a season ending injury. I think it is funny posters are concerned about next year's lineup. I'm concerned about Butler.
  9. He had an ankle injury last month. Same ankle?
  10. UMass with some major whoopass over SIUC today, 84-62. Shot 15 of 36 from the arc. Game not as close as the final score might indicate.
  11. We still have one open, right? Santos, Isabell, Wiley, Bess and Foreman all gone. Four signed to date.
  12. First win by Dayton over Butler since 1991. They pretty much stopped Baldwin holding him to 11 (5 of 17), who is the big engine for Butler. Baldwin will undoubtedly be a Bess/Thatch matchup.
  13. And VCU got robbed of another. Wow, Big East and ACC likely one bid leagues. Will there be enough teams to have a tourney?
  14. Dayton takes down Butler. Maybe the discussion of the demise of the A10 was a little premature.
  15. Well Duke got beat by a team ranked below them. I guess they are out of the tourney.
  16. This comment is totally irresponsible.
  17. The only reason @Glorydays2013is on a rant is that he can’t say ‘called it’.
  18. I applaude Ford for putting team rules first. Santos left for violating team rules. Isabell sits for violating team rules. The recent history of this program suggests this type of strong leadership is needed.
  19. Unless you know what Isabell did, unless you know why Ford benched him, just be quite. No player is above the team.
  20. French with 6 blocks!
  21. Oh really? Do you think the light went on today? Did you miss last season?
  22. Opinions are free, but my opinion is that Goodwin doesn’t get 16 if Isabell starts.
  23. You said this was a deep team.
  24. Isabell has to know not to feed French in the Post on that play. Take a contested shot. French is in there to rebound.
