  1. The article in the PD today quoted Porter Jr. as saying he hurt his back a few years ago. So Martin did buy damaged goods. Did Senior tell Martin that his son likely was a zero and done candidate before he took his $1.3 million? Hmmm. Lawsuit?
  2. Ouch. I know I am in the minority, the VAST minority, but Welmer is #1 on my list of MIA. We can certainly use more shooters, but we have Roby and Johnson. The missing shooters are no better or no worse. You can always use more ball handlers, but we have Goodwin and Bishop. What we don't have is a decent backup for French (and Johnson) that can play inside and outside. Just my opinion, and I'm not looking for anyone to agree.
  3. According to Stu, Welmer did not participate in practice yesterday. This is not good.
  4. Nice article by Ortiz. I like the last two pieces he wrote on the Billikens.
  5. Bad loss for your Tigers STHI. The Illini will finish bottom 1/2 of the Big Ten. Not getting your moneys worth.
  6. Goodwin carried the first half and Roby carried the second. Good game by all, including Anthony. He played a little D tonight and of course got the 4 rejects. He needs to look to score some. It looks like Foreman might need the layoff to heal. He had a four pretty good games early on (36 points through Detroit), raising expectations, but has only scored 11 in the last 7 he has played. Injuries may have taken their toll. With Foreman and Welmer hobbled, we need Anthony to keep stepping up his game.
  7. No, but my play of the game was Johnson on the three miss, French rips the ball out of Carpenter's hands, back out to Johnson for the three.
  8. The Redhawks have only one almost decent win, against SIUC (RPI 192). Their other wins are against +200 RPI teams. This better be a beat down.
  9. Read the second half of this Phil Mushnick, NY Post's article about Martin buying teenagers. https://nypost.com/2017/12/02/complacent-media-give-broken-sports-world-a-pass/ 'In April, Missouri signed the nation’s No. 1 high school recruit, 6-foot-10 swingman Michael Porter Jr. He was injured in the season’s first game — he’s likely out for the season following back surgery — but he’s still considered NBA-bound, as early as next season. Why Missouri? Funny you should ask. The school hired his father as an assistant coach. And unless Porter Sr. is working for free, how can any logical human — or shrub — not conclude Missouri paid off Senior to deliver Junior? Any college president with an active sense of fundamental right from wrong would have told Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin, “Oh, no you don’t. We don’t buy teenagers.” You think this would pass muster in Missouri Law School’s ethics classes? Then again, the academician who enabled the North Carolina no-show-classes scandal was fully enabled by a professor of ethics.
  10. Welmer can give Johnson a blow also. In the past three games Johnson has played a total of 115 of the available 120 minutes. That is not sustainable. Johnson is slowly developing an interior game which was weak last season. Welmer will be rusty when he finally hits the floor. Unliike AD, Bishop and Graves, he hasn't been practicing at full speed since March.
  11. Agree Wiz, we really only played 6. Foreman 2 min, 1 TO. Anthony 1 minute, 2 PF. French was on the floor for 37. The worm turned when we started guarding 25 feet out. One of the two three's Campbell hit in the second half was when Johnson left a shooter to double the post. He came out right after that (for his one minute on the bench). Thanks to Johnson and Hines (17-19), we hit 69% from the line. How soon before Hack-A-French will be the norm? 32% from the line (10-31). Hines did a nice job running the offense.
  12. Came out and guarded the shooters in the second half. First half Camels hit 7 threes. Second half only 2. One on a missed Johnson assignment. The adjustment was desperately needed.
  13. Someone want to tell coach, guard the shooters. I don’t think he sees what we see.
  14. On September 22, 2017, the Department of Education removed the time limit for an investigation. https://www.campussafetymagazine.com/clery/5-title-ix-changes-announced-by-department-of-education/ Removing The Promptness Requirement for Sexual Assault Investigations “There is no fixed time frame under which a school must complete a Title IX investigation. OCR will evaluate a school’s good faith effort to conduct a fair, impartial investigation in a timely manner designed to provide all parties with resolution.”
  15. I was some what surprised Ford stating he hasn’t placed special emphasis on FT shooting......until now. Two losses could have been flipped with team average FT shooting.
  16. If you fry cubed tofu hoping it will resemble stir-fried chicken, you're ensuring disappointment. French is stir-fried chicken.
  17. Every true non-troll soccer fan knows that Sorber played for Bradley in Chicago and coached with him on the USMNT. Bradley has courted Mike since he took the job in July. Sorber is moving from the Union to LAFC. So this isn't any big deal, in fact it was expected. Why was the thread started? The Ignore function is really nice for trolls. I haven't read a post from trollpants since he crawled out of the bog.
  18. Agree. Foreman appears to be damaged goods and Anthony is tofu. Eubanks was sick last night, with an IV right before game time. And he still had a pretty good game against our trio. Eubanks is not even All-Pac 12 material, yet he scored at will when he got the ball down low. French staying on the floor another 5 minutes maybe would have been enough to turn the game into a win.
  19. Defense is what I want. Foreman and Anthony had no answer for Eubanks.
  20. Eubanks, 29 minutes, 12 points 6 rebounds French + Foreman + Anthony, 44 minutes, 8 points, 8 rebounds. When French goes to the bench, we just can't control a decent pivot. Okay, assume Foreman is injured? He did take a nasty fall last night and we know his back/hip is a problem. French needs to learn how to stay on the floor. No, the refs aren't targeting him. Ford needs to make French his #1 priority, teaching him how to defend without fouling and certainly improving the FT. Hack-A French will be the norm. Welmer will be another body, but he doesn't defend the post any better than Anthony or Foreman. The infusion of the additional players won't solve this problem.
  21. Should have beat Detroit and OSU with the eight we have.
