  1. Per Scott H and Frank, NCAA shares are $1.95 M per game. A10 collected $4M yesterday.
  2. Two days ago Rammer said Harriman was still showing up at the office daily, as was Tate. I have no idea what Harriman is doing.
  3. 7. Gibson Jimerson Old school: Saint Louis Shooters like Jimerson don't come around often. The 6-foot-5 wing hit 39.5% of his 789 long-range attempts over five seasons for Saint Louis. He's got one season left to play and should be highly sought after demonstrating one of college basketball's most consistent outside strokes in an unparalleled sample size. 21. Sincere Parker Old school: Saint Louis Parker is the definition of instant offense. The 6-3 guard averaged 15.9 points per game in just 20.7 minutes per contest off the bench for Saint Louis while shooting 42.6% from 3-point range. He went for 30 or more three games in a row during one February stretch of A-10 play. That should make him interesting to high-major programs.
  4. Good question. I looked at ISU's stats for the past three seasons. For my definition, if a player logs in double digit minutes for the season and is in most of the games, he is in the rotation. (That is not a perfect definition, but it is the one I use.) For this past season that number was only 7. Previous season it was 10 and first season at ISU was 9.
  5. Well, not so fast. Coach Calipari might be available. He likes Blue Uniforms. And Money. Can we afford his transfers?
  6. Yes. No scout would use one game as a decision maker. But Will Wade may have slipped down the ladder a bit on several coach search lists.
  7. Yeah Izzy we don’t need those mid majors in this NCAA tourney. Down Goes Kentucky!
  8. Let's see if the ACC can tie the A10 with two first round wins.
  9. That makes things interesting, doesn't it. Is she wearing a ring?
  10. From written reports, Gibson has a significant other currently enrolled at SLU. What grade is Jimerson's girl friend? If she is still in school for another year, that is one reason for him to return. If she is graduating and moving on, that presents another issue. Anyone interested in funding NIL money for his friend? Jumping in the portal confirms that he is interested in playing another year of college ball. Does he want to break Bonner's Career Scoring Record and Hargrove's Games Played record at SLU or does he want more of a guarantee for his only appearance in the NCAA tourney. He already has the Three's Attempted and Three's Made career records. Nothing new here. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/gibson-jimerson-joins-other-slu-players-in-transfer-portal/article_ed2aa4f0-e798-11ee-9bd9-6b27d6e2606a.html
  11. Dukes win! Down goes the Big 12. Anyone who wasn’t entertained by that game isn’t a basketball fan! After two games my bracket is perfect. What do I win Steve?
  12. Ha, looks like you beat me by 1 minute! Agree, Steve @SluSignGuy will merge as he usually does.
  13. I appreciate your and @cheeseman civil responses. I understand your positions. Perhaps I care more about the students than others on this board. (No I'm not indicting you or Cheese.) The experience of college, and college athletics, can't be replicated. I have no problem with the ISU athletes and students having this run in the NIT. There is no guarantee that they will have anything like it again, so I say let them enjoy it, all the way to Hinkle.
  14. It is buried elsewhere in another thread or two, but this deserves it's own thread. It doesn't need be said, but I will anyway, he could return to the Billiken Roster. Jimerson leads the Billikens in Career Bests in Three's Made and Three's Attempted. The numbers are already higher than any four year player will ever achieve. He is 4th in Career Minutes and 8th in Career Games Played. I believe he has only one Class Record, Sophomore Three's Made. Should he return, he would end up as the All Time Billiken Scorer, and add the Career Games Played category to his list. First observation is that Jimerson appears to want to continue playing college basketball. Good for him. There is no reason for him NOT to jump into the portal. Second, does anyone know the grade level of his Girlfriend? I know nothing about their relationship, but from his quotes to Stu it appears to be significant. Third, just random thoughts, I wonder if he and Dr. Chaifetz have had a conversation? Dr. C supported him last summer with an internship. My guess is that he made more than minimum wage. If the new coach and Jimerson have an amicable discussion about his roll on the team next season, would money be a factor in his return? If it is, would Dr. C and the powers that be finance a return? Wherever he ends up, thanks for what you have given us so far Mr. Jimerson. Good luck on your decision.
  15. I acknowledge your opinion and grant that you certainly have a valid point. For me, this is much bigger than Billiken basketball. If you saw the game last night, you saw 6400 passionate fans cheering on their team to a great comeback win. I mentally compared that to our NIT, no-Collins game in 2022 where 3500 fans pretty much sat on their hands. Indiana State deserves anything and everything they can get in this tourney run. I was hoping for a Butler v ISU match, but that isn't going to happen. The Big East traveling to Terre Haute would have been interesting for me. Minnesota will be a challenge for the Sycamores. I will be rooting for them to win. (An ISU v Cincy quarterfinals game would be intriguing, but that is too far ahead to think about.) The NIT final is on April 4. That is two weeks from today. If Schertz is in fact Billiken Plan A, hiring him on the following Monday won't impact SLU's next campaign on iota. "Oh the Portal, we need to jump on it now." Today there are 670 in the portal. I will guarantee you that on April 5 there will be more than 670 still in the portal. The number of P6 players in the portal is relatively small right now. It will jump in the next two weeks. Their will be plenty of quality players still available (waiting on the highest bidder). If as reported in the media, Schertz will bring 1, 2 or 3 of his players with him, then the timing becomes even more irrelevant for a Schertz hire. His players won't be jumping into the portal prior to finishing out their NIT run. Let ISU have their moment of glory. The vast majority of basketball fans/pundits figure that Schertz is leaving Terre Haute, be it for St. Louis or some other destination. He has to. This is his window of opportunity. Let him end it his way. If in fact Schertz is SLU Plan A, and if you don't want to wait this out, I suggest you advocate for Plan B. SLU will be fine with Plan A, Plan B, or even Plan C.
  16. ALL THINGS HOOSIER! Good stuff Sycamores. Keep rolling into Hinkle.
  17. As of 4 pm on 3/20, 656 were listed in the Portal. For A10 schools number of players in portal: 0 - Dusquene, Loyola, Richmond and VCU 1 - Dayton, GW, St. Bonnie, and St. Joe 2 - Fordham and SLU 3- Davidson 4 - UMass 5 - George Mason, LaSalle and Rhode Island There will obviously be more.
  18. Izzo wants to cut out auto bids for mid majors. It's just a matter of time. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39771265/tom-izzo-ncaa-selection-process-needs-more-nuance-less-analytics
  19. What, and I figured he was more interested in the Alabama Aerospace Engineering program than the Iowa Animal Care degree! So it's about money and not education?
  20. I listened to the Opening Drive and the last two segments of today's show, and I don't know what you are upset about, unless it is the other two segments. Frank stated he talked on the phone to several people actively involved with the search. He stated Schertz has talked directly (not through his agent) to Dr. Chaifetz, Fred P, Chris May and Joe Conran. Apparently Schertz won't accept any job until his team is out of the NIT. He is still in the running for other jobs. Frank asked Dr. Chaifetz if he 'was your guy'. Chaifetz reportedly said, "We are talking to other coaches, some who are coaching in the NCAA Tourney." The only other name that Frank and Rammer talked about was Bryce Drew. Bob commented that Grand Canyon has several Dr. Chaifetz level backers. Corey Tate, as current Interim Coach, goes to the office each day. So does Harriman. Jimerson is interested in staying, but hasn't committed. (He apparently likes Coach Tate.) Parker has heard from quite a few P6 schools. Outside of the SLU talk, the story on the Iowa lineman was interesting. This football player originally committed to Iowa but flipped to Alabama on signing day. At the beginning of the Jan portal, he transferred to Iowa. Now, 3 months later, he is transferring back to Alabama. I’m interested in your reaction. Where was the meltdown mode as I missed it.
  21. This is true. Nebraska is the only current Big 10 member not in the Association of American Universities. So it is not a requirement for league membership. New members UCLA, USC, Oregon and Washington also belong to the AAU. Any Big 10 Expansion candidates would have a much greater odds of acceptance is they are AAU qualified. In 2023 the 71 AAU schools received nearly 60% of all federal funds for academic research. In 2021 that was $31.5 billion for, at that time, 65 member schools. You can do the math and see how important AAU membership is to the Big 10. (Football media rights are estimated to reach between $80M and $100M per school per year under the new contract.) ACC members that are in the AAU are Duke, Miami, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pitt, and Virginia. These schools would be at the head of the line for Big 10 poaching from the ACC. AAU Member Kansas would be a poaching candidate from the Big 12, if the dominos fall that far.
  22. You need to learn about making assumptions.
