  1. See, there was a post where you made a point, instead of just ranting about how much Ford sucks. You even threw in a dusting of positivity. I agree that Ford has shown stubborness and an unwillingness to adapt. I just believe that he can evolve and get better and use that to compliment his recruiting abilities to move SLU forward. I'm going to give this post a "not bad."
  2. It's hard to cheer for Dayton, ever, but if they are banged up, I hope they beat Fordham. That Fordham crowd was menacing at the game yesterday. I would rather meet a depleted Dayton team that we just be recently.
  3. There are many, many posters on this board that are advocating for Ford to go that I would not label as a "Troll." I respect their opinions, but simply disagree. Having a different opinion than me or others does not, remotely, make a person a troll. A troll is someone who incessantly posts about a position using non stop superlative verbage and, in doing so, annoys the CR*P out of everyone on the board and makes it difficult to read. I enjoy debating with those who are here as devout Billiken fans, but have a differing opinion on a topic than I do. That's part of what makes this board interesting. I cannot stand someone who shows up out of the blue and spends their first 262 posts repeating the same garbage over and over again. We know your opinion on this. Let it go.
  4. That's fine. If you want to use Gonzaga, let's go down that rabbit hole. Mark Few did not start the success at Gonzaga, he has just maintained the success that was already there. Before him was Monson, but Monson was only there two seasons. Monson also did not create the success at Gonzaga. The winning tradition at Gonzaga, the one we want to replicate, was started by Dan Fitzgerald. Before Fitzgerald, Gonzaga had never been to the NCAA tournament. Never as in not once it its history which goes back to 1907. Let's look at what Fitzgerald did. In 1985, Fitzgerald inherited at team that had gone 15-13 and 4-8 in conference the year before. In his first 8 seasons as Gonzaga's head coach, he only got to 20 wins once (exactly 20 in 91-92) and never made the tournament. In the 3 seasons from 93 to 96 Gonzaga had over 20 wins each season and went to their first ever NCAA tournament. After the 96-97 season, Fitzgerald stepped down and turned the team over to his assistant Monson in a move that had been planned for over two years. Monson used the momentum created by Fitzgerald to get to the Elite Eight in his 2nd season before moving on. Few has been churning the wheels of success created by Fitzgerald and his assistant, and later head coach Monson, ever since. If Gonzaga's fans had run Fitzgerald and his assistant Monson off in Fitzgerald's first 8 years of not much success, there is no Mark Few and no amazing Gonzaga tradition. I guarantee that everyone who is advocating for keeping Ford will change their tune in a year or two if we arent seeing progress. We are also not happy with the results this season and are questioning whether Ford is the guy that will get SLU where we want it to be. We just believe that consistency is the way to go right now with a coach that has given us five consecutive 20 win seasons in non-Covid years.
  5. Randy Bennett has been at St. Mary's for 22 years. In his first 8 seasons, St. Mary's only went to the NCAA tournament twice and only won more than 20 games 3 times. If the fans had run him out of town because they he was not getting to the tournament enough or winning more than 20 games enought in those early years, they would not be enjoying the success they are having now. In the 13 non-Covid years since those first 8, St. Mary's has been to the NCAA Tournament 7 times (counting this year). This includes one Sweet 16 run and three consecutive years that they went to the NIT (this board would have run him off then too). My point is that consistency and patience is what is required to get to the level of some of the teams that you mentioned. Folks who advocate for keeping Ford are not okay with mediocrity. This is a BS sentiment that is getting old. We all want SLU to get to the next level and then the level beyond that. I just think being patient with a coach that has gotten us 4 twenty win seasons in his first 7 years as coach and one tournament appearance (after inheriting a dumpster fire) gives us a better chance to get where we want to be than starting over with an unknown. I don't have a problem with posters who think its time to part ways with Ford. You are all entitled to your opinion. I just think it is too risky right now, and that our chances are better with Ford. Please stop having a problem with myself and other posters whose opinion differs from yours. Let's just all calm down.
  6. Regardless of my or anyone else's disappointment with this season, a game like this could be our last chance to see several guys play in a Billiken uniform. I treasure my opportunities to see various Billiken players take the court for the last time over the years. I would not miss this one.
  7. It is the trope of the uninformed MBM. We are 2nd in the A-10 in scoring and 34th in fast break points, but if we are not sprinting up the court on every possession like Michael Jackson during a Pepsi commercial, our offense is failing.
  8. I hope Jordan Goodwin has a lot of success playing for the Bullets next season. Also, I heard the St. Louis Browns may have a surprisingly good season in the AL East.
  9. We have plenty of dissent and disagreement on this board without trolls like you in each of your iterations. The point is that we don't need trolls to stir the pot, the pot stirs itself on this board.
  10. From ESPN.com article: Coach of the week: Lynne Roberts, Rebecca Tillett, Saint Louis The Billikens earned the first NCAA tournament appearance in program history with their run through the Atlantic 10 tournament. They were the No. 3 seed, but their 17-17 record is deceiving. They've won 11 of their last 12 games, getting their second victory this season against top-seeded UMass in the A-10 title game. Iowa's Clark wasn't the only one with a triple-double to secure a tournament championship Sunday; Saint Louis' Julia Martinez did it as well with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists as St. Louis won 91-85 in overtime. Tillett is in her first season at SLU after four years with Longwood; she led the Lancers to their first NCAA tournament last year. Tillett is just the second coach in D-I history to win an automatic NCAA berth in different leagues in consecutive years. After a playing career with at William & Mary, Tillett coached at the high school level in Virginia for a decade before going to the college ranks. She took over at Longwood after being an assistant at Navy.
  11. Ironically, you can't spell it without N-C-A-A either.
  12. Found myself cheering for Gervin since he was just shooting and Maravich was completely reliant on gimmick shots.
  13. If so then great. They will still have to beat out the best guys we can bring in as well. If they do, we should be in good shape.
  14. This team averages 75.6 points per game which is 2nd out of the 15 teams in the A-10. We probably had the hardest schedule among A-10 teams. My point is that the offense hasn't been the problem this year. There is plenty of room for criticism, but I think it is misguided to believe that our offense has been the downfall this year.
  15. I am a Ford supporter, but I will admit that this is a legitimate criticism. I will add to this that I think that Cisse should have gotten way more minutes than he has this season. Why not? Getting him experience and seeing what he can do should carry more weight than whatever contribution Forrester has given us this season, which, in case you can't tell, I don't think is much.
  16. Wiz, a post by Stu seemed to suggest that we could still end up #1. If we beat VCU and Dayton, and VCU loses to GM, then we would be tied with VCU record wise. We would also split the head to head with them. The possible next team up would be Dayton and we both split with them as well. Without getting too wordy on this post, can we still, mathmatically, win the conference title?
  17. We just beat the best team in the conference. So, why not? How crazy would it be if they won the A-10 tournament?
  18. I guess he wants Pestello to be responsible for making the right hire
  19. If you can guarantee either Mack or Brey, I would go with them. Anyone else, and I would rather give Ford one more season.
  20. Here is how that happens: 1. Get some, obviously not all, of our current guys to stick around another year. Of course I'm talking about the ones that can. (Will clearly lose something here, but I'm just saying lessen the blow) 2. Get a quality big in the portal. Also, one of Momo or the two freshman step up to have a good season (Could be an improvement over this season and will open up a lot of other things) 3. Parker's game progresses and he gives us more than the combination of him and Perkins gave us over the entirety of this season (Could be an improvement) 4. Have one guy of Hughes, Kramer, Medley, or a transfer step up to be a serious outside, three point threat (Could be an improvement over last year if Jimerson is one of the guys you keep) The above scenario, I think, could produce a team that has better success next season than this season.
