  1. on my thread padding ? about WTF is the deal about those basketball prep schools I found this, http://www.ctpost.com/basketball/article/Prep-schools-can-provide-avenue-to-college-512963.php kind of what I thought and kind of unpleasant in some way.
  2. Here is a serious ? about recruiting that may pad the thread. these prep basketball schools WTF is the deal? What I thought I knew is 20 years old and was probably wrong then; thought they were post high school institutions for HS grad b ball players that needed to polish up on education to make it into D1 program with a schollie. Now it sounds like they have whole leagues. So could one of you or all you all explain this sh+t to me? and why aren't any around here? or is Chaminade one? in da' dark here
  3. thanks. bad enough we have to wait on 2 recruits but losing those 2 inches off one we had was buggin' me.
  4. I saw JC showing some recruits around Metro Lighting over the weekend. neither of them seemed into the compact fluorescents either.
  5. Good 3 commitments we have already affords the luxury to propose that it ain't end of the world to go into summer with a pick to use. Times have changed dramatically in recruiting last few years. remember how panicky we were win Coach was hired so late and how amazed all were he got anyone that late. this year there are 300+ transfers as I understand it. that's more than the total from '60-'10 combined I'd hazard to guess. Really I know only what I read but it seems like back in 60-70's, and even 80's 90's there would be a handful of players that would subject themselves to the stigma of being a quitter, bucking the system etc. that was part of the vibe. Now it's a approaching one player per program in D1 this year. JC should crank up the AC gather the AC's and start looking thru the 300 highlight reels. there's got to be a couple names out there that could be diamonds in the ruff. Wiz have you been sifting thru the prospects? should be enough to propel thread to 300 during this off season.
  6. If there is a more seminal movie in American cinema show me. and I don't mean in anyway in terms of quality. But think back old timers when you walked out of that movie when first run like it or not, you could say you'd never seen anything like that before with no hyperbole. Now half movies out there are derived from it.
  7. links please, does sound interesting.
  8. Agree. Beautiful city. If he's already looking for third school to play for maybe he's the problem?
  9. for some throw down to KTTA I was going to start a poll of which two picks would you take from supposed "in play" list but I can't decide my own. i guess Lancona is the Tiger of the list but who is most desired besides? and correct me if I'm wrong on TL. I guess I'd go with Randy for my second
  10. hope you didn't say anything that'll get us on probation!
  11. how's the paying up to keep this thing afloat work? I think i came in right at the end of last hat passing?
  12. if that becomes our main concern during the season we are sitting pretty.
  13. sorry to overpost on this thread but what I am saying is I followed Mccall and Evans all through their senior season, much as one can fromsuburban STL and thought they would be what they've turned out to be and I have the same feeling if not better about Crawford. Hearing some eyewitness impressions makes me even more confident.
  14. I made a point but not what you are saying it is. I have no not mis memory as I wasn't on board thus my query. I was wondering if those two got as much disrespect here as Crawford has.
  15. when RM recruited MM and DE we had a whole season to follow them in high school. Both were studs on teams that went way deep in state tournament largely because of their respective efforts. The process of watching them all season and determining that they should be pretty good is what I did. The experience has been the same for me following Crawford's season and now his post season accolades. All of which makes me feel that he too should be good at SLU. In addition he has the gym rat 1000 shots day, first to arrive last to leave practice vibe. Tavern my analogy to this or any board. Potter Jr comment in response to the concept of Crawford being doubted because he only played with white tractor pulling types. Hope that helps
  16. wasn't in this tavern when Evans and Mccall were early signers? was the chatter this wait and see show doubt going down then? For me the build up is similar the early signing, following kick ass HS teams go long into state championship, led by our recruit! looked too good to be true on paper but look what we've seen last 3 years. In some ways I find Crawford inspires more drooling. with the 4 year star thing, and the carrying team element enhanced. On the 5'9" hick thing can't imagine there was too much urban competition captured on tape of soon to be drafted by NBA, out stater Otto Porter Jr.
  17. they said that about Franco for 20 years. Larry's are Queen Elizabeth.
  18. a name almost legendary from the past that represented an early high for "Bad Larry" side of Biondi. It wasn't him personally that chased him away straight up, but he was the man behind the policy.
