  1. Scenario: Let's say we dish out the money and land Bryce Drew. He recruits well and gets us back to the NCAA tournament in three years. Then he leaves for a can't-miss job (Duke, Syracuse, Kentucky, etc.). Would it have been worth it?
  2. The selection show in itself was a complete joke. I'm glad someone leaked the bracket. That's what they get for turning something that could take 20 minutes into a two hour commercial fest.
  3. "Success or failure does not determine your self-worth." I think we can all agree that for the most part, Crews failed during his time here, but I think we can also all agree that Jim Crews is a classy guy. Best of luck, Coach Crews.
  4. As a recent graduate (2015), I can say that I'm not the slightest bit surprised by the lack of enthusiasm from the students. Most kids were glad to jump on the bandwagon when we were nationally ranked, and they were just as quick to jump off when the going got rough. I agree that the AD needs a better marketing strategy for the students, but marketing to this group is an insanely difficult task. Most SLU students just don't care. Even when we were great, there were very few loyal and dedicated fans in the student section. I'm just thankful that I got to experience the height of SLU basketball. I made great friends and incredible memories in the student section (enough good memories that I will continue to support and love SLU for the rest of my life).
  5. We trounced #9 Butler, 75-58. Storming the court that night remains one of my favorite memories of all time. This topic isn't necessarily to dwell upon how far we've fallen since then (though that will undoubtedly happen), but simply to recall a great night in Billiken basketball history. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/billikens-blast-no-butler/article_5fe19817-4c00-535e-8442-9cab045e5cbb.html
  6. How many selfies is McBroom averaging per day? More than last year?
  7. What about Tim Cluess, from Iona? He'd probably only leave for something bigger, but just throwing a name out there. Would we want him? He is 56 years old, so not exactly a hotshot like Stevens or Shaka.
  8. Love the sarcastic applause at the empty arena
  9. An article which shows how tight of a situation we were in. http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball-news/4484547-sporting-news-coach-of-the-year-jim-crews-saint-louis-2012-13
  10. If he were to get fired at Memphis, what would people think of Josh Pastner? Would we be able to get him? Would he want to come here? Would we want him? Not necessarily advocating him, just throwing out a well-known name who could be available in the offseason.
  11. http://www.slubillikens.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27200&ATCLID=210588196 I really enjoyed reading this article today (even if I didn't totally agree with the order). My top 3: 1) Beating Butler and storming the court 2) The Washington Game (aka the Conklin Smash Game) 3) Destroying Havoc (2013 edition) What are your favorite games at Chaifetz?
  12. CBS put together a list of the program best positioned to succeed in each state over the next five years, and for the state of Missouri, they chose.... Missouri: Missouri Tigers Outlook: As a state, Missouri is not that strong on college hoops programs. And the Kim Anderson era is not inspiring Tigers fans, no not at all. But the Tigers have to be the pick by default here. Though Missouri State and Southeast Missouri State are prime contenders to be players in their respective leagues. The state of Saint Louis hoops is interesting. Feels like the program is at a crossroads right now. Will it trend back up in the next two years under Jim Crews? The Billikens won 11 games last season. Obviously it's just the opinion of a group of writers, and I think we have seen in the past that those guys at CBS aren't exactly experts, but I'm interested to see what everyone here thinks. Personally, I was insulted that they chose Mizzou. Our Billikens are certainly at a crossroads, but I wouldnt say we're in any worse shape than Mizzou. 13. This is the most depressing part. At least SIUC made a couple of Sweet 16's (and if I recall correctly, they would have made an Elite 8 if not for some horrible officiating in a game versus Kansas).
  14. Tatum can unveil that new Billiken logo when he chooses the SLU hat.
  15. Without sounding overconfident, I see no possible way in which we don't win this.
  16. Kind of fun to look back at past years' top 100 rankings and see what became of some of the top rated recruits.
  17. You're assuming Belleville West would want to play us. What would they have to gain by scheduling a game against us at that point?
  18. Looks like Barnes has been reading Billikens.com. The kid is playing like he's got something to prove...
