  1. I apologize if this was previously posted, but the Fall schedule has been posted: http://www.slubillikens.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=632578&SPID=93202&DB_OEM_ID_COUNT_=2&DB_OEM_ID_1_=27200&DB_OEM_ID=27200&DB_OEM_ID_0_=27200&Q_SEASON=2015 Memphis (92), Denver (104), Central Arkansas (190), Indiana (16), Wisconsin (151) round out the home non-conference slate with Tulsa (44), Akron (22), Louisville (20), and Evansville (147) on the road. I included the 2014 final Massey Ranking for reference. I do not see the Welcome Week match, so they must be working on the exhibitions.
  2. The Bosnian league is so small and Siroki Brijeg is very isolated, but at least is close to the Croatian coast. It looks like he is the only American on the team. It would be interesting to know how much he makes, but I would bet it is one of the lowest paying leagues in Europe.
  3. Shave those sideburns, Kristo! Kristo scores on an open goal. 2-0 Billikens.
  4. Great offensive possession by Tulsa but to no avail. Otte with the save.
  5. Congrats to the Cougars! Dartmouth defeated Fordham 2-1.
  6. After five seasons, any chance this is a must win for Coach McGinty?
  7. Worthless Tulsa related trivia from the Massey rivalry and other features: SLU has played Tulsa on five occasions with the only victory coming this season. Tulsa scored four goals in each of their four victories including a 4-1 victory in 2010, a 4-3 victory in both the postseason and regular season and a 4-1 victory in 2005. One common opponent this season in Creighton (tie 1-1). The SLU and Tulsa athletic facilities are exactly 391 miles apart.
  8. I am not sure what a frank is, but if you are referring to the French franc, then you are referring to the French reserve currency at the time. The German currency at the time was known as the Deutsche Mark. This may explain why you had to beg for passing grades.
  9. Did anyone watch the game? It is obviously very hard to tell from the Indiana highlights, but our defense appeared tentative on the goals. And, Otte should have cleared the ball on the third goal. Highlights: http://www.snappytv.com/snaps/msocvsslu_9wfp47
  10. Generally, no. The NCAA Division I men's soccer championship only includes 48 teams and 25 of those granted automatic qualification by way of the conference. The other 23 teams are selected by a committee of coaches and athletic directors that are handed a detailed breakdown of all Division I teams based on a host of primary and secondary factors with the RPI being the key. The analysis does not include the exhibition season nor does it include the first regular season game played against any non-Division I opponents. The 23 teams will largely be the top 23 teams in the RPI that did not earn and automatic bid. The exceptions are often elite programs and those from the best conferences getting in over deserving teams. There are exceptions to everything. And, had SLU played North Carolina and UCLA in addition to Notre Dame and destroyed them all, then maybe a coach or two might bring that knowledge to the table. Otherwise, for the 2014 season, SLU shall be judged by every game played after orientation.
  11. Both the tie against the Domers and the loss to UIC were in the exhibition season.
  12. I am not a fan of Strauss, but I appreciate this column. I am glad that Graydon has found a home at SLU. Hard to believe that Coach McGinty is in his fifth season.
  13. Very cool. Over the weekend, I unearthed a Billikens Soccer t-shirt that was given as a gift to my wife. It has signatures from Kyle Patterson, Calum Angus, Ross Kaufmann as well as Tim Ream among others. I wonder if that t-shirt is worth anything.
  14. Unfortunately, I have not been to a game yet, but I definitely appreciate the updates. Please keep them coming. Athletics did post a video of the goal from Friday night and the three goals from Sunday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlpDiHK_-mc#t=41 Glad to see Kristo score twice on Sunday, but I especially loves those assists. Love the vision and execution by Raymond Lee. Incidentally, it is looking like my friend who follows the NJCAA was right about Pavisic and his prediction that the Serbian defender would compete for a starting role. 10 starts last year and a start in every game, I believe, this season so far.
  15. I really do not remember that at all.
  16. I apologize if this was posted before, but it looks like SLU Men's Soccer has two match-ups against Division I opponents at Hermann. SPRING SCHEDULE Saturday, March 29 vs. Jefferson College – 2:30 p.m. (Hermann Stadium) Saturday, April 5 vs. Butler – 3 p.m. (Hermann Stadium) Saturday, April 12 vs. Tulsa – 2 p.m. (Hermann Stadium) Wednesday, April 23 vs. Wash. U. – 8 p.m. (Hermann Stadium) Friday, Apri 25 – Team Banquet – 6 p.m. (Lorenzini's) Saturday, April 26 vs. Illinois-Chicago) – 3 p.m. (Chicago, Ill.)
  17. Look at all those retweets, favorites.
  18. North Dakota State gets the 12-5 upset. Are we the first five seed to upset a No. 12? The commentariat certainly did not believe!
