  1. he told us to "suck it" multiple times but hey guys he would never wish ill upon anyone. I guess that means where he's from they like sucking it?
  2. Lot of posts before the game about how this could be a turning pt of the season...you lose and we're 3-5 and even if either kwamain or willie come back there wasn't a whole lot of incentive to play them; win and ur at 4-4 which is respectable without your top two leading scorers and your third leading scorer nearly nonexistent. When you throw in an 18 pt comeback after the opposing team jeers at your best player getting hurt and this is a huge win for our guys. These are the types of games that give a team confidence and helps them come together. We've got to harness the momentum from this win and more importantly scoring nearly 50 points in a half. This team isn't going anywhere if we don't get some guys coming back but big win for the program and the frosh to learn how to win. You have to give it up to Kyle Cassity. The guy took more abuse than any player last year and he has stepped up. Now he's doing the little things and scoring. He knows how to win and he took an absolute beating tonight and still sparked the comeback and hit clutch free throws.
  3. +1847373 KC goes down and Jville's bench goes nuts and our guys made a stand. This team may not be that great but gotta love the heart.
  4. A lot of people hating on Cody today. I agree he hasn't looked like the same player this year but definitely not ready to call him a bust, like some have. The guy is our pre season all conference player and he hit huge shots last year against richmond, dayton, and xavier. I think I'll stick with him. I agree that Christian doesn't really have a role on this team right now. If he can't shoot the 3 then he will never average more than five a game and we can't have that many non-scorers on the team at the same time.
  5. Anybody kidnap Singler or Smith yet?
  6. The A-10 takes over ESPN tonight with Georgetown traveling to Temple on ESPN and Butler goes to Xavier on ESPN 2. Be a nice night for the A-10 to bounce back
  7. I don't know at the meet and greet before the season Rick said he hadn't even talked to Kwamain. He handed the question about KM over too Paul. Obviously he could be bs'ing but maybe he really is just trying to stay out of it.
  8. Anyway I look at this it doesn't end well...in the half court their bigs are so much better than us that I can't see us stopping them but I think the bigger problem will be us scoring...our offense is anemic and were asking two frosh point guards to handle the ball against the best pressure D in the country. duke will force turnovers and get lots of points in transition. We're going to have to be unbelievably hot from 3 to stay within 20 imo.
  9. The more time time to prepare means more time in the film room learning the other opponent's tendencies. It's not that were going to come out with anything new it's that we'll have a better idea what were up against and exactly what to expect. The filmroom is where Rick will figure out exactly how he wants our defense to rotate when we double down and who he wants to sag off their man etc. I expect us to get drilled too but I expect us to be better prepared bc of the time off. Assuming that our guys have been practicing a lot. Rick seems huge into academics and with finals week I don't know how hard he's been on them.
  10. As a fan I definitely agree that I hate to see us lose bc Coach is being a hardass but the loss did help prove Rick's point. You know after the game Rick told Cody we lost a winnable game bc you weren't playing bc you don't play defense. Hopefully Cody realizes him not playing D is hurting the whole team and he gets his act together. As opposed to him just blaming rick for the loss.
  11. I don't know if I would say Remeken was "great" off the bench last year. It seems like all anyone remembers of Cory from last season is the final game of the CBI where he had a very good game. If he was that good off the bench last year I don't think Rick would have wanted to redshirt him this year. I think Cory can be a very good player and his game will improve much this year. However, I don't ever see him being a starter if we want to be a tourney team.
  12. Anyone else think its odd we had mre people for Austin P than Georgia? Georgia was a better team and even for the casual fan you'd think Georgia being from the SEC would make them more likely to come. Only explanation I could come up with was that some fans were disappointed after Austin Peay.
  13. I'd understand that if you were on eboard for slunatics but I don't think you are? And if your not then there's not a whole lot they could do to you I feel like...
  14. Can a brother get a KwamainKwamainKwamain (olah) chant next game?
  15. lol Willie joined the free willie and kwamain group. He's on board with the cause.
  16. I think some of the lackluster post play by Cory and Loe was due to Cardinal Stritch's defense...they completely collapsed usually three guys on the post anytime we caught on the block. Not saying their defense was good but hard for anyone to score with three guys on them...I don't think Rick wants Loe on the post but given the circumstances he's going to have to play there some and he needs to work on his post moves. With his size he should focus on quick post moves like a little turnaround jumper and a hook shot bc right now he doesn't have the body to force his way into great position. He's going to have to show a good shooting touch since he won't be overpowering anyone. I think most teams we play this year are not going to double Cory...he's 6"7 post that's an unproven scorer and teams aren't going to want to risk leaving our shooters alone. This is when Cory has to step up. It's crucial he has the post moves to score if he's 1 on 1 on the block or that he scores enough to demand a double team when he gets the ball down low.
  17. Not to be a pessimist, but if I remember right weren't the two exhibition games last year fairly close? I was a young niaeve frosh last year and we when we were trailing in the second half of one of the exhibitions I thought we were in for a long season...I think this team will turn out to be good but right now I don't think we have the offense firepower to blow anyone out of the water....I'll take Bills by 14
  18. Agreed...seems like all the current bball players our business administration majors and SLU is known for having a very good business school...obviously not a blow off major
  19. Definitely agree that Cody will start. We may not average 30 pts a game if he doesn't start. You make some good pts though the reasons that make Cody a tough matchup for other defense's makes it tough for him to guard opposing teams. I think ideally Cody puts on some muscle and is able to guard a 4 but that's probably a year away. May not be Rick's plan for Cody though since he had him slim up so much over the offseason. I just think it's easier to add muscle than quickness.
  20. Sounded like Rick was still unsure of who would start at the point he said it could be either one but did elaborate more on Jett than he did McCall...with Jett's build, if he buys into Rick, he can be an absolute shut down defender. We struggled against penetration last year and Jett looks like an athlete that can help stop that. What worries me is that our reasoning for playing a frosh at point was so that we could score Kyle Cassity up to score more. I agree KC has all the skills to be a good scorer but he has not put it all together yet on a consistent basis. If he can average maybe ten a game then this team will be in the top four of the A10 again. Nonetheless, don't like going into the season counting on a guy who can look a bit clueless on offense occasionally. Two of the freshman looked like they had all the potential in the world: Loe and Evans. Loe looked a bit slow, especially on D (Cody got his 3s way too easy) but Rob did have the shooting touch we had all heard about. If we can get a true 5 man that allows Loe to play to his strengths than he will be a fantastic player. Evans looked like the slasher that we lacked last year. He was quick enough to get to the rack and big enough to finish once he got there. Only saw him take one outside shot but it looked good too. Once again though, all we're talking about is offense and Rick is going to start the five best defenders. We all expect Cody to be our best player the first half of the season and Rick spent half his time bashing Cody's defense.
