  1. Financially, for sure! Don’t forget UCSB won the college cup in 2006, played at the frozen tundra of Hermann Stadium…also, what is the difference between the Cal State prefix schools versus the UC prefix schools? I’ve always wondered that!
  2. What about the old Titans of Cal State Omaha, as the boys down in Fullerton like to refer themselves as?? Four nattys in baseball, right?
  3. Hahahah! Brian Ferentz scoffs at this, but stats don’t lie!
  4. edit. Seeing the Mark Masden info and kept thinking about his LA Lakers championship parade dance moves…dangerous…
  5. Ed Martin would have had a field day in this day and age…and Fischer would probably still be in Ann Arbor and the banners would still be hanging in Crisler Arena…
  6. Could an Athletic Dept theoretically “lower” one’s salary say from $2.5m to $2m and use that leftover $500k to fund something/someone? Or do they have to prove cause to the NCAA that they docked someone’s salary? Just curious if anyone knows any sort of loopholes a program like Houston or Kentucky could exploit.
  7. Will be curious to see what the younger Oduro brother decides to do. Only a freshman, I believe.
  8. Logistically, Moraga would be closer to Oakland (12 miles as the swallow flies) and the now-tenantless Oracle Arena than San Fran, now that the Warriors have left for the new Chase Arena. Like the idea, but SF would be a haul even on the BART from the Orinda stop.
  9. The student becomes the teacher with the Billy Donovan Experience coming back to campus if the Bulls decide to move in another direction. They extended him back in the fall, but that’s a move that in hindsight the Reinsdorf Company will come to regret. That’s the only PC-related move I can think of that makes any sense.
  10. Nail on the head… and consistently filling NBA-sized arenas. The coffers have been flush with cash to spend, the student body flocks to the arenas, they are a Jumpman-branded team, etc. Al Maguire is still revered as Christ with a Whistle…they make $$$ off the NIL of a man who has been dead for 22 years. Only at Marquette. Meanwhile, SLU sends kids from the UNews to opine whether or not they should sell merch that was made with child labor to the bookstore. We can’t compete even off the court with MU.
  11. I would also assume when you say “Ford” here that it’s Ford’s agent and not Travis acting on his own behalf…
  12. How year three is just a short paragraph is very interesting (and telling). Ford’s best year is given a graph somehow shorter than the combined obituaries of Sacco and Vanzetti.
  13. Agree - my senior year there was a competition at the bar formerly known as Wackadoos to come up with a new fight song. I thought I was at Robert Morris or DeVry for a split second. You can’t just copy edit culture. It has to be sown, watered, cultivated, harvested and then repeated season after season. It is a crop that should yield results. It seems like ours at the moment is anything but. What I can remember is the winning team - yes, the winning team, having the phrase “Midwest SuperStars” in the lyrics. Oh, but those Buffalo chicken sandwiches were so good…
  14. The league (until the conclusion of the 12-13 season) also included stalwarts Temple, Butler and Xavier… and yet somehow we got 6 teams into the dance the year after they left… wow. That boggles the mind.
  15. Great point; the easy answer is that you have to let the administration know that if the next BE expansion train leaves without us (again), that any sort of financial contributions, whether that be currently or even something like leaving the university a piece of the estate when said donor passes is an absolute pipe dream. None of us has what Richard Chaifetz has, but collectively, I think there’s a play here. We speak of Ford and May needing to go… but what has Dr. Fred done for us to even get to the bargaining table with Marquette, Creighton, Georgetown, etc.?
  16. And in our lone appearance v the MWC, we lost. Sucks to even think secular VCU is the torchbearer in a private/Catholic school-laden conference.
  17. 1. Phil Fulmer - Tennessee 2. Pat Haden - Southern Cal 3. Kevin White - Notre Dame (including George O’Leary)
  18. That only happens when another Richard decides to pull the funding plug. Money talks and let’s hope Fred listens.
  19. One thing I didn’t see a lot of was this team, collectively, getting “pissed off.” Travis got PO’d in spades, but unless this team gets pissed off in private, I never saw that attitude on the court until it was too late. A lot of Ho hum guys ain’t going to get the job done, Travis. This Ford program in need of a whole engine overhaul, not just a spark plug. Maybe it’s time for a recall.
  20. Agree - Walton takes his GD days to the extreme like he was Brent’s understudy on the keys for “Dear Mr Fantasy” at old Foxboro Stadium, which is Brent’s finest hour. RIP. Give me Mike Fratello, somebody. Although if memory serves me, Walton would have sat in for Drums/Space with Mick and and the other Bill :)last tour this summer - you going?
  21. Just hope the Ram Bandwagon has enough gas to traverse the 23 miles from Rose Hill to Barclays…
  22. SIUE had a couple of players last night in the OVC tournament who thought they were Buster Douglas in Tokyo in the 90s.
