  1. Hopefully Xavier can get wins against Memphis and Temple. Should boost their rpi and ours. Also since we lose the tiebreaker to Temple, it'd be nice for them to lose one here and there.
  2. It's not that simple. They know they're locked in to the tournament so they were still coasting. (Sarcasm in these last couple of posts. For anyone who doesn't get it, just check out the discussion MB73 and I had earlier today.)
  3. Xavier played laid back and passive because they were on a big hot streak and they overlooked us tonight. It'll be a different story in our next game, they'll really get fired up for the game and they play their best when fired up.
  4. They were 15-6 going into the game against us last year. That's nowhere close to being "locked in to the tourney". I don't care about what you say about Pomeroy or whatever, but this idea that they came in unprepared and overlooked us last year is just wrong. "Pounded Oklahoma on the road"? I guess a 12 point win is pounding them. It was under a 10 points for a lot of the game. As I pointed out earlier, Xavier has come out flat after a lot of their losses this year. We get off to a hot start, and they'll start playing out of character.
  5. 68-54 win. Probably a bad prediction but I just have a feeling.
  6. Again, last year they were coming off a loss to Charlotte so they were fired up.
  7. I think we'll see a lot of Jordair tomorrow night. I think he'll guard Tu and Lyons on and off. I also think KM's defense has gotten a lot better as the season has gone on. He's one of the few guys on our team that has the ability to recover if he gets beat. I looked at Xavier's stats and Tu has only made 18 3 pointers this entire season (to compare, KC has made 19) but he has shot 129 free throws. So he's shooting about 7 free throws a game which is a lot for a guard. I think a key will be for us to stay out of foul trouble. I worry about this playing at Xavier because guys like Tu will get the benefit of the doubt a lot and we're the away team. Hopefully KM/JJ can just keep Tu in front of them all game and limit his drives to the basket. Wells is super athletic but with Tu and Lyons jacking up a ton of shots, I'm not sure he'll get a ton of looks. I said it earlier, but Xavier is really struggling down low. Conklin averaged like 19 points against them in the 2 games last year, and I think he's due for a good game. We need to get the ball down to him and hopefully it'll open Cody and Rob up from the outside. KM has been shooting a lot better lately and he's made better decisions on when to drive to the basket. He's still due for a completely break-out game, and you know he'd love to do that against Tu.
  8. I have to go home tomorrow afternoon so I might just be staying there. If not I'll probably be there.
  9. does anyone know if this channel is included in a normal DirecTV package?
  10. We'll go back to the Anaheim style of basketball. Conklin is going to dominate in the paint. Xavier has terrible post play right now. I read their message board and they're all completely down on Frease's play right now. Kwamain has been waiting to have a huge breakout game until now because there is no better guy to do that against than Tu. Cody and Rob will drain 3's. A lot of people are saying that Xavier will be fired up after a big loss. I'm not so sure. They seem completely mentally weak after the brawl. After the brawl, you would have thought they'd be fired up, but they lost their next game by 20 to Oral Roberts. That's excused because Tu, Lyons, and Wells were suspended. After the Oral Roberts loss, you'd think they'd be fired up, but they lost to Long Beach St. They had Tu back for that, but were still missing Lyons so maybe an excuse. After the Long Beach St loss, you'd think they'd be fired up but they lost to Hawaii. :Jimbo Bad Language: Hawaii who's ranked like 300 in rpi. They had Tu and Lyons for that game. Then they beat SIUC by like 9. So you'd think they'd be fired up for a rivalry game against Gonzaga after that terrible stretch, but they lose again. Wells was still out but the excuses are over. Then after losing 4 of 5, you'd think they'd be fired up because they have their whole team back now, but they lose to La Salle. They were down by 20 for a lot of the game, but ended up losing by 10. No excuses there. Now Xavier is playing better than they were during that stretch, but I'm not too worried about them being fired up. And either way, you know our team will be completely fired up and Majerus will have a great gameplan ready. They're mentally weak and if we can get off to a fast start we can really cause them to play out of control.
  11. Last year they were coming off being upset at Charlotte. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/2752/year/2011/xavier-musketeers I do agree with you that Xavier is overly emotional and they'll be fired up for this game, but they aren't very mentally strong so if we can get off to a good start, we could get guys like Tu and Lyons to start throwing up bad shots. I think we'll win by 3. Xavier is really really struggling down low right now and Conklin is due for a big game.
  12. Well I don't want to run into a pissed off Xavier team on Wednesday, but from what we've seen this year, they aren't a very mentally tough team so who knows how they'll react. Still a lot of time to play though.
  13. Temple beats Maryland in a non-conference game earlier today. Xavier plays at Dayton right now on ESPN2 Other games include: Fordham @ St. Bonaventure Rhode Island @ La Salle UMass @ Richmond Charlotte @ George Washington St. Joes @ Penn Other games of note Stanford @ Washington. Stanford is probably a bubble team as of now. New Mexico @ UNLV. Big game for both teams.
  14. It's happening. We just talked about it in a meeting yesterday. Can't remember the date but it's definitely happening. Maybe the Fordham or St. Bonaventure game or something.
  15. Looks like Villanova will win too
  16. Current Scores: 68-55 Xavier over Saint Joes 77-66 Duquesne leads UMass 52 seconds left 83-65 George Washington over Richmond 66-64 Fordham over Rhode Island 76-70 Temple over La Salle 55-54 Charlotte leads Kennesaw St 6:45 left
  17. Current Scores: 39-37 Saint Joes leads Xavier at the half 41-38 Duquesne leads UMass at the half 33-27 George Washington leads Richmond at the half 40-38 Fordham leads Rhode Island at the half 37-33 Temple leads La Salle at the half 18-13 Kennesaw St leads Charlotte 8:31 left in first half 37-28 Villanova leads Seton Hall at half
  18. Not an A10 game, but Villanova hosts Seton Hall tonight. Seton Hall is 15-3 and just outside the top 25. Could be an rpi booster for us
  19. http://ht.ly/8ys2c An interesting read on normally what place a certain amount of wins in conference will get you. Obviously this year could be somewhat of an exception.
  20. I'd say your analysis is pretty dead on. We definitely want the Tuesday off because if 11-5 or 10-6 for some reason doesn't get us a bye, it will at least give us the 5 seed and then we're playing the 12 (probably Fordham or GW) and that won't be a quality win. Much rather get the bye and have a full week to rest and prepare. I'm really hoping we can be on the opposite side of the bracket as Temple because it might take a conference final appearance to secure a bid and if we play Temple before that it will be tough playing in Atlantic City.
  21. 949 for his career. His career high for a season is 271 and he already has 261 this season.
  22. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology Lunardi still has us in as an 11 seed.
