Spoon really was larger than life. He seemed like someone you knew even when you really didn't. I remember a game at Carbondale when they handed out Spoon faces on a stick for all the fans to hold up making an arena full of Spoons. Those were good times, for sure. That's a beautiful idea bringing back the spoons on the lawn. I remember some games there must have been thousands of them planted in the middle of Grand, the quad, and just about everywhere on Frost. He had a nice restaurant that I enjoyed in both locations: Union Station and the CWE. For a time, Spoon was nearly as big as it gets in St. Louis. Rest in peace, Charlie Spoonhour.
