  1. It was a flagrant foul, the free throw shooter does not have to be the player that got fouled.
  2. Inconsistent half. Only issue for us has been turnovers, really. If we keep our heads and play our game we should run away with it in the second half.
  3. If we aren’t recruiting him, we should be.
  4. That’s fair, we do seem to have had more open looks, just still aren’t converting. Part of that might have something to do with the fact that UMass and App State are absolutely horrible on defense, though.
  5. It kind of makes me wonder if we’ll see a bit of a shake-up on the bench after the season. We really need a guy with some expertise on offense sitting next to Ford. We also haven’t seen a ton of development from players besides Bess, but that seems to be more due to his own effort. Macon got a promotion last year and seems pretty active in games. Tate is obviously more of a recruiter than anything. Bailey is a bit lower key and was supposed to be the guard coach. Without knowing more than that, Bailey seems like the most replaceable. He’s a nice guy though, so I don’t really want to see him fired. Just wondering what has to happen to get our offense out of the toilet.
  6. And some decent teams to play/scrimmage.
  7. A vpn would be your best bet. Then you can just do it how you normally would.
  8. The crazy thing is that over the past two games he’s probably 3-4 on catch and shoot threes. The problems come when he pulls a “Kobe!” and shoots off-balance off the dribble. Sometimes these aren’t even that contested, he just fails to set his feet before shooting and the end result is almost never a basket. Notice how Bess is the opposite, his feet are set on all of his threes. And even on his running jumpers off the dribble, he gets squared up pretty well pre-release. Watch this tonight, I really don’t mind Isabell shooting when he’s squared-up, it’s just that his lower body is usually twisting around as the ball leaves his hand. Those are exceptionally difficult shots to make.
  9. If you haven’t already, please consider donating to Steve and the site so that you can react to each of Gloryday’s posts. Best money I’ve spent in a while. There’s no excuse for the name calling that he’s been engaged in. Completely inappropriate. It’s one thing to criticize/question a decision, and another to repeatedly attack someone’s character.
  10. Idk if you’re taking the piss here, but honestly you’re right. Last year DJ almost always caught the ball below the FT line and only had to make one move to get a shot off. This year he has put his head down and dribbled into a crowd more times than I can remember. Scoring in basketball is as much about getting into the right spot as it is about anything else.
  11. The good thing is that he really needs to “do less” and simplify what he’s doing. That’s far easier to do than adding something to your game.
  12. Sorry, I was saying that when he dribbles >1 time he struggles. He’s doing that more often this year than last, which is why his shooting percentage has plummeted. This is in part due to him being a terrible dribbler, but then also affects his finishing because additional dribbles means more time for defenders to rotate and help. He needs to be quick and decisive. He hasn’t all of a sudden become worse at finishing. He’s become worse at doing the things that allow him to score efficiently
  13. It’s honestly just him dribbling one more time. If he dribbles once or less, he’s amazing. He can finish and cut very well. What he can’t do at all is dribble.
  14. Yeah, I really am hoping this transfer causes Ford to change things up and play more of a pace and space dribble-drive offense. Hargrove and Perkins both strike me as hybrid wing-forwards who would thrive in that kind of system.
  15. I believe someone said it was Davion Bradford from Mehlville.
  16. ^ what he said Edit: Bess is at +7.2 box plus/minus on the season, up from +2.9 last year... senior year Jett was +6.1 and junior year Evans was +8.9. His efficiency is way up, going from an O-rating (points scored/100 possessions) of 110 to 122, and his D-rating (the equivalent, but for defense) is down to 90.2 from 100. Bess really is putting up CPOY numbers, it's not hyperbole whatsoever.
  17. Hopefully French will return to form. He’s best as a low-post player, and when he and Gordon were both on the floor, French often ended up at the high-post instead. He’ll be far more efficient staying close to the basket. Hankton will get minutes and this will will help us spread the floor. If teams try to target him as a defender, I could see us playing more 1-3-1 zone with him at the point to utilize his length, while making his lack of strength matter less. Foreman needs to get back to what he was. One dribble from the free throw line and up and hard cuts to the hoop. None of the isolation dribble drive stuff that’s gotten him in trouble. Bess will step up to the plate, too. He can play more of the 4 on offense, and Thatch plus Jacobs will get more minutes. I like the idea of pressing more that some have mentioned. Let the dogs loose. Gordon was probably the most talented player on this team, but he was also a square peg. This team still has enough to compete for an A10 title though, and our offense might even improve now that we only have one ball-stopping post-player to feed touches.
  18. So, I read the implication that he came here for reasons other than basketball as having to do with his girlfriend, who is a SLU soccer player. Maybe something happened there? Add that to the other baseless speculation.
  19. Gordon has always been strangely cryptic on Twitter. I’ll wait until we hear more to start panicking.
  20. Missed the opportunity to post this on App State’s run earlier, but better now than never... https://youtu.be/pVENWl8uBeg
  21. 3) he’s an extreme liability in close games due to his free throw shooting
  22. Excellent post, I think this is the right take. Our offense is just totally non-existent and that’s because pretty much our entire rotation (minus Wiley) excels at bully-ball, meaning we can’t spread the floor whatsoever. We need to spend a little less time in the weight room and a lot more time in the gym. Believe it or not, but you have to make shots to win basketball games.
  23. That could have a lot to do with who they play in Lawrence vs KC. Generally the KC games are against high(er) quality opposition.
  24. The coaches really need to limit him to one dribble. If he tries to take a second dribble, he loses it immediately every single time.
