That fact is though that he was a fine coach and a terrible recruiter. I was there. I saw it. I honestly beilive he was Crews' equal. If Crews can recruit fine. If not, we are screwed if he's our coach. Anyone who says otherwise has an agenda.

Fair.enough. I respect your opinion and kind of agree. I just have the same questions with any new hire. Im just happy I dont have to make this choice.

I agree. But we dont know if, insert assisstant here, can recruit either. i.dont know.if JC replacement can reruit any better, thats why Im on board either way. Its not.my choice so Ill give you my opinion on rhe hire in 4 years.

LSD is a PED. Doc Ellis threw a no no trippin balls (so he says). When I was a Jr. In High school I lost in the finals of my Hoop it up Bracket while my team was trippin balls. LSD leads to creative bball.

When did you all get saddled up on your high horse. This program F-ing sucked for a long time. and when the program didn't suck it was a flash in the pan. all this talk about 'does Marquette think this is the 80s'..... Do you guys think this is heaven???? I for one think this breath from purgatory is spectacular. wahhh wahhh national coach of the year im too good for it..... sit on your f-ing hands during the game some more.

. Thats what Im talking about. Agree 100% Its not like JC is 80 years old. He can lead the Bills to the promised land.

The big knock on JC from the board seems to recruiting. It also seems that most are hoping for a hotshot assistant. My queation is how do we know a young assistant can recruit better than Crews? Ill be happy with Crews but Ill.also be happy if they go.another direction. The boards knowledge of Crews as a recruiter is the same as it is for an "up and comer."

I was expecting to be disappointed. I was wrong. Good stuff.

Other than the carter thing nothing has gone wrong. He has managed to cover the teams weaknesses and has won games i didnt give a chance in hell of winning. That said, unless a couple of recruiting stud assts are also announced at the same time a crews permanent head coaching job is announced, i am convinced he is the wrong guy.

For now bernie stay out of it and lets enjoy the rest of the season

. Hmm? For years we hear how Saint Louis U gets no media love, no sports talk air time, no PD coverage. Now when the top sports guy in St. Louis gives an opinion some(many when it comes to boarders) dont like he is told to stay out of it. We can't have it both ways. Roy I appologize if I read the last line of your statement the wrong way.

The first post made SLU look more appealing. Your post made Creighton more appealing. We dont know which criteria the committee is using.

1 more thing..... I liked the free throw chantd in the second half. I hope you keep doing it. It would be awesome to get the entire crowd doing it.

Nice win....Ugly game. No flow what so ever. One thing I would like to clear up for the people sitting around me and some(actually 1) on this board... When Cody is whistled for a block it does not mean he was flopping. It means he was late getting to the spot or it was a bad call I hear this all the time and it drives me crazy. Every time he gets called for a block the people around say "well I guess the refs figured out he flops and arent going to fall for it anymore" A blocking call DOES NOT = a flop!!! 95% of the time Cody goes down its because I guy runs into him. 100% of the time some idiot yells "flop" Flop=going down with no contact Block=late to the spot

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="cgeldmacher" data-cid="346876" data-time="1361923826">
If you are talking about 93-95, that run with Spoon came at a unique time in St. Louis sports.

. The St. Louis Cardinal football team left in 1987, leaving a void. The Rams didn't bring football back to St. Louis until 1995, after this two year run.

If you are not from St. Louis, you won't remember the St. Louis Steamers. They were an indoor soccer team that had huge success in St. Louis in the early to mid 1980's. When I say huge success, I mean that there was one season where their average attendance was second in all of North America for arena teams to the Edmonton Oilers (Gretzky). Yes, this means they outdrew the Lakers, Celtics, Bull, NY Rangers, Flyers, Blackhawks, Blues, etc. Despite their success, they went out of business in 1988. They were replaced by another indoor soccer team that wasn't nearly as successful.

So, when Spoon came along and brought success to the SLU program, the former indoor soccer fans and NFL fans were looking for something to do, and the timing was perfect. During that era, SLU had nights when they put 20,000 fans in the building.

Under the circumstances, I think that more people were excited about the Billikens in that two year span than currently. I wish the interest was the same, but doing everything we can to fill a 10,500 seat arena is no where near the same as putting 20,000 into the, then named, Kiel Center/Savvis Center.

. The Cardinals also sucked ass from 90-95. They werent drawing 3 million a year then. It was the perferct storm of professional suckieness, a great team, and a loveable coach with great marketting.

Burwell: SLU hits it big, as in 'new' Big East?
dlarry replied to Aquinas's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
IMO Burwell sucks. This article was lazy and non factual. That said, Im glad he is trying to write about SLU. If Im going to read a poorly reseaeched article from Mr. burwell Id rather ut be about the Bills than 40 times at the combine or meaningless spring training games. -
Any way Butler is ranked higher then us?

I heard Seth Davis has us at 18. -
