I can remember it being mentioned that alums were playing in the UMass band during a SLU game there. Not sure if that is a regular thing or was a special 'alumni night' situation.

This was the version of the band that had me wanting to sit near the band section. Under Beczkala they just had more personality, style, and put on a better show in my opinion. Maybe it is the AD and not the most recent director that was creating the more milquetoast presentation the last several years. Others can fill in those details. I just hope the coach, whoever it may be, can hold on to this year's freshman class. I want to watch Thames, Kramer, and Hughes develop and as upper-class men.

I've been saying to anyone who would listen that despite all the positive projections, Ford is on the hot seat. Sounds like maybe May needs to be as well.

Can't disagree with anything here. Despite being such a highly-thought of and clearly effective recruiter, Ford still hasn't put a team on the court that would have bested the sons of Majerus. Even though Rick may not have had above a 2* recruit once his entire tenure. Just like the calculus with Lisa Stone, Ford may have raised our floor, but the ceiling under him is still fairly low. If this ends up another year of "Fourth-place Ford", it needs to be the last one.

The only guy who doesn't try and score 5 pts each time down the court in these situations.

When the Bills had an equally pathetic effort against Maryland we could tell ourselves that maybe Maryland will turn out to be one of the best teams in the country. With Iona we know that isn't the case. There is no denying that there are real problems with the team that will stop them from achieving what we thought they could. Before that game the A10 looked like a weak conference that SLU might be able to walk through with just a challenge or two from Dayton and VCU and an odd trap game here or there. Now the A10 looks like a weak conference that SLU may very well win but not easily or in a very impressive way, think 12-6 rather than 16-2. You can't tell me that UMass and Duquesne (while not great teams) don't look like problems if our defense remains this uninspired.

These arguments that we should settle for Ford because he is willing to settle for us are depressing. When is the Billiken fanbase's episode of 'In Treatment' airing?

Maybe not this off-season but if he gets run out of OU I'd be calling him the next day.

Yep, no excuses. At the end of this season the posters to this thread will be happy one way or another. Either we make the tourney or Ford is gone. In fact, even if we make the tourney - if it is just to drop in the first game by 20 that may be it for Travis.

When you are fouling 3 point shooters, as we seem to nearly every game this year, you are not guarding the 3 well.

We don't defend it. Ford doesn't think it needs to be a point of emphasis vs protecting the lane. He looks at teams shooting % and assumes they'll miss enough. But even the worst teams in DI will make most of their 3s when they get to take wide-open un-rushed shots. As bad as our offense has been it isn't even worth discussing. The defense today is as pathetic as we've ever seen under Ford, which is saying a lot. You aren't beating Dayton, VCU, Davidson, or any team you'll face in March with that poor an effort. Perkins clearly isn't right. Okoro clearly doesn't want to be out there, not that we have a choice but to play him. And we're back to where we were in the worst moments last year where a well-coached defense shows that if you can limit Jimerson and frustrate Yuri we will fall apart.
