  1. Everyone at ComPsych getting an Unknown hoodie?
  2. Ultimately I think the average fan wants to see the best players. Yes there will always be a core group who want the purity of watching student-athletes. But the majority of the fans, the eyeballs, and the $$ will follow the best players whether they are student-athletes, paid state-owned minor league (which less face it, is what we are taking about with the big boys), G-League, or any forthcoming other XFL-for-basketball leagues. I'm not offering up an opinion of what SLU can or should do under such a scenario. Just saying that in a world where the major conferences are gone, and potentially March Madness has been NIT'd by whatever they create to replace it, the distinction between what's left and D2 is pretty meager.
  3. This scenario would be bad for SLU and like programs in the long run. No matter how much more honest or lure it may feel. While there is certainly a world of haves and have-nots in the current setup, programs like SLU still have the potential for the significant revenues that come with being part of the overall D1 landscape. A world like he described, where programs like SLU are essentially in an FCS level situation would likely severely cut back the potential for TV revenue and March Madness participation. Without the NCAA making them do it, do you really think the big boys will even let the student-athlete programs take part? If you can't raise the revenues to help fund your other sports, and gain national marketing exposure through TV and sports coverage.....(I'll say it) What's the point then?
  4. Perkins didn’t leave.
  5. Unknown just happened to get a 6-figure t-shirt order out of the TN area??? *sigh* it is just the way of things, same as it ever was.
  6. I guess in this day and age people can't imagine such a scenario being true. Sad as that is. The good news is we'll find out. If he plays a meaningful role (is any part of Ford's rotation) at some point over the next few years, doesn't transfer, and is never put on scholarship, we'll know that the above scenario is what is playing out.
  7. Was waiting for someone to point that out. Are there really people worried about if he can afford school without a scholarship? I'm sure Hughes will earn it, and if Ford doesn't need the other scholly fine. But otherwise why use that spot when you don't have to.
  8. I did an informal poll a while back of which women's pro team people would be most interested in seeing start in STL: soccer, basketball, or hockey. Soccer won fairly easily.
  9. Not right now. If Chris May pulls a rabbit out of his hat, makes a home run hire, and turns SLU into the Duke of WCBB...then maybe.
  10. Perhaps, but I'd imagine Fred gets the nod for defense. Pickett may fit in as a 6th man and replacement for Nesbitt, assuming he doesn't return.
  11. Mizzou fans will no doubt take the news with
  12. Tanner Bronson parlays a successful season at Chattanooga to a new gig in the SEC.
  13. Imagine being a baseball HOFer and still not the best player on your childhood block. Kinda like Reggie Miller, all those achievements and still not the best player in his house growing up
  14. They have backup buses, but won’t use them.
  15. As has been discussed ad-naseum already that may be how things end up.
  16. In a scenario where the kid wants to play a feature role and is told by Ford that probably isn’t going to happen before ‘23-‘24. And if anything he may play less minutes next year. Yeah I could see that being the impetus try to move on.
  17. Knowing he could be as low as 7th in the rotation next year could easily have had a lot to do with it yes.
  18. This is kind of a harsh take on Willie but Mitchell was THE guy for that squad. And Ian was probably a better player overall. I’d actually put Mitchell and Lisch at the top of this list as exciting to watch even if not the top in overall play. Both could take over games in ways I’d argue JGood didn’t. I’d also put Conklin on there somewhere.
  19. Putting this here for those who like trying to decipher meaning in a 20 yr old’s tweets.
  20. It would be interesting to see some data on how many 4-stars 1) play 4 years of college ball period 2) play all 4 at the same institution. I'm guessing it is a fairly low % in both cases.
  21. Is there a long history of underclassmen borderline starters on 5th place A10 teams getting good deals to play overseas? (no)
  22. Keep in mind we're talking about a 20 year old kid who's high school doesn't even exist anymore. Stability is not an expectation he likely has. I wouldn't dig too deep in to parsing his language.
  23. Hopefully we have or will soon reach the point where a NLI is more lucrative than playing in a third-tier league in Latvia. But who knows.
