  1. He dislocated his knee cap this summer at the KU team camp and was out 6-8 weeks. I am not sure what his current injury is, but it appears to definitely be a major knee injury. The game last night was great. Jayson Tatum was fantastic and led Chaminade to the 70-59 victory with 33 points. CBC could not handle him. Jordan Barnett had two monster dunks that brought the house down, but had an epic miss that came off the rim to half court. He had a real nice game for CBC leading them with 22 points. Tatum was called for his 4th foul early in the 4th quarter and went to the bench. The game was tied at that point, but Chaminade went on a run with him sitting and he came back in and really closed it out. Sophomore big Tyler Cook was a big reason they were able to gain a lead with Jayson on the bench. I had not been overly impressed by him when I have seen him prior to last night, but that changed for me in the 2nd half. The kid had about three really nice back to the basket moves and finishes, one of which shocked everyone in attendance including Coach Cal. He was key for Chaminade and had 15 points capping it off with a big dunk. Really showed some impressive post moves. Sophomore guard Mike Lewis had a really nice 1st quarter for Chaminade and hit a big 3 the possession after Tatum went to the bench. He can really score the ball, but needs to add some strength and grow a few inches. He had 10 points. CBC sophomore point guard Jordan Barnes was solid, but did not stand out like the last time they played. He did throw the ball off the backboard to Barnett for a monster dunk early in the game on a break which was the play of the night. He had a few nice moves and finishes offensively that I can remember finishing with 9 points and he really pressures the ball defensively. Their other sophomore guard Christian Willis had 10 points, but I did not remember him playing much in the 1st half and really only remember him having a stretch in the 4th quarter where he was attacking and either finishing lay ups or getting fouled, but he was quiet beyond that stretch and may have been on the bench a lot. It was a packed house and apparently they were turning people away an hour before the start. Kentucky was represented by assistant coach Orlando Antigua and later Calipari which had the crowds attention when he entered. Jim Crews was in attendance and sat behind the CBC bench.
  2. Don't worry, Jimmy Crews was there to watch his future star!
  3. I will be heading over to CBC this evening to check out the Chaminade/CBC game featuring 2016 studs Jayson Tatum, Jordan Barnes, Christian Willis, Tyler Cook, and Mike Lewis. Unfortunately Chaminade's other big sophomore, 6'7 forward Will Gladson, was injured for the season earlier in the year.
  4. Has anyone seen Althoff play at all this year? Freshman Jordan Goodwin is having an extremely impressive season putting up 19.5 points a game and looking like a high major prospect, but I have heard his teammate Brendon Gooch is also a quality talent. He is a sophomore averaging 15.4 points a game. From what I can find he has an offer from SIU-Edwardsville and has heard from SLU, Illinois, Purdue, SIU-C, Missouri State, and Indiana State. I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on this Gooch kid and whether he is more of a mid-major talent or if he is a kid SLU should really target.
  5. It will be fun to hear his commentary when SLU blasts VCU twice this year.
  6. Ismail Muhammad, nice memory. That kid had some incredible dunks and that team was fun to watch. Georgia Tech had some talented teams back then with guys like Chris Bosh, Ed Nelson, BJ Elder, Jarrett Jack, Will Bynum, Luke Schenscher, Marvin Lewis, Ismail Muhammad, and then guys like Anthony Morrow, Javaris Crittenton, and Thaddeus Young.
  7. 314 is the area code for St. Louis city and most of St. Louis county. I don't understand why Joe Strauss seems to take such pleasure in prodding local sports fans when he is a writer for the local newspaper.
  8. St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer Joe Strauss is discussing the Billikens on twitter: Joe Strauss ‏@JoeStrauss3m SLU played its best game of season last night before a remarkably sedate gathering. Thank goodness for the band. Joe Strauss ‏@JoeStrauss25m Denying reality only perpetuates situation. SLU letting opportunity slip. Unfortunate. 15 years ago UVa., UR owned Richmond. Now, VCU. Joe Strauss ‏@JoeStrauss28m Using Groupon coupons to hike attendance does nothing to substantiate growth of brand. The 314 is more black/gold than blue/white. Joe Strauss ‏@JoeStrauss30m Those pointing to uptick in SLU attendance intentionally miss point re: market penetration. MU still dominates The 314 outside SLU campus.
  9. I have come to appreciate the job Bill Self does at KU (and I hate KU) and he is now getting the star one and done players.
  10. Lunardi's latest Bracketology has the Billikens moving up to #6. He has 4 Atlantic 10 teams in as of today: SLU up to a #6 seed, UMass down to a #6 seed, GW up to a #9 seed, and VCU up to a #9 seed with Richmond as one of the first four out. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology
  11. I think talent goes a long way too. We have had plenty of intelligent and mature players that lacked the talent. It is so nice to have both in spades.
  12. Jayson Tatum is visiting Michigan State today with his dad for their big rivalry game.
  13. Pathetic end of game execution from La Salle, disappointing season for the Explorers.
  14. I think it is a really sad story, but that report is full of holes. Not sure what the University did wrong in this case. Seems like the reporter had an agenda and went in knowing what story they were going to tell regardless of the truth.
  15. I think that may be deserving of its own thread and possibly a poll, maybe the Wiz could produce a ranking for us.
  16. Any chance that Savage could be back when we play them in a month?
  17. I know this stuff doesn't mean anything at this point, but Joe Lunardi currently has us as a #7 seed taking on our nemesis Oregon in the opening round. He has 4 Atlantic 10 teams in as of today: UMass a #5 seed, SLU a #7 seed, GW a #10 seed, and VCU a #10 seed (one of the last four byes) with Dayton as one of the first four out. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology
  18. Enough about Phil in Pressey, more spring break photos of the Oregon cheerleaders.
  19. I think he was going on academic probation and then I heard the rumor is he stole a shirt from Dillard's leading to his dismissal. The official press release says breaking team rules I think. Who shops at Dillard's these days?
  20. Who cares what some idiot that calls into a sports talk radio show thinks? I listen to Rene Knott and Charlie Marlow fairly frequently and I have noticed when Rene talks about and praises the Billikens he seems to start comparing them to Mizzou and the Illini. It is probably only a matter of time before he baits a Mizzou or Illinois fan into calling in. And the people who call into sports talk radio seldom represent the typical fan. I think it is a slow time for local sports talk radio, so maybe this is a way for them to make things interesting since there haven't been many seasons SLU was the top dog standing over Mizzou and the Illini. Honestly though, I think most Illinois and Mizzou fans are more focused on their teams poor play than worrying about comparing themselves to SLU. Like I said earlier, there is no debate that SLU is the top local program this year and you likely wouldn't hear much of an argument from most Mizzou or Illinois fans.
  21. I am pretty sure that McClellan transferred to Vandy from Tulsa. Mizzou's Jordan Clarkson also transferred from Tulsa, so maybe there is a connection there. I would be curious if he transferred how long he has to sit out and how much eligibility he would have remaining.
  22. If Mizzou tanks this season and loses its top two players to the NBA (at least a decent chance of that happening) they will be garbage next season (Haith's seat would be real hot), creating an even bigger opportunity for SLU to grab more of the media attention. The question becomes whether SLU can sustain the success beyond this season to merit the continued media attention.
  23. How does it work for players dismissed from a program? Can the program that dismissed the player block where the player goes next?
