College Basketball has always been a coach's game...
kmbilliken replied to davidnark's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
This is better than Spoon. He has more name recognition, better credentials, can coach every bit as well, plus will put in the time and effort into recruiting. -
Once something goes on the upswing, Bernie usually jumps on the bandwagon. His spin will be SLU has finally made the commitment to follow through on a 20 year old promise.
-
Great news! I had given up on this thing happening. So is he spending the weekend lining up ACs and talking to recruits?
-
If Frank was right, he'd already be signed. Unless RM is taking the weekend before signing to visit the recruits, get their commitments and make a real big splash on Monday. That scenario is too good to be true, so as much as I hate to say it BM must have it right on this one.
-
If this job opening isn't important to rearrange his schedule for, what's the chances of him signing? End this farce now and move on.
-
Same old news. For whatever reason, this deal just isn't happening.
-
If they're still "negotiating" this deal isn't going to happen. If it's a done deal and all that's left is signing the contract, then do it. If not, move on.

Conflicting Reports: Timmerman Article
kmbilliken replied to SluSignGuy's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Has anyone on here actually seen him on campus? No heard from a friend or got it from a reliable source, has anyone actually seen him? -
Sounds a little like Chris Braun. He was 6'10'' and had plenty of skills. He only averaged in the midteens in points and 6 or 7 rebounds at Gibault HS against small school competition, but everyone was enamored with his skills and size. He had an ok career at SLU, but that's about it.

Biondi may cause this thing to all blow up
kmbilliken replied to brianstl's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
If that's the case then it's Biondi looking for an excuse not to get the deal done. If I was RM and he did that, I'd walk away right now. This could be both jockeying for position as to who's to blame for not doing the deal that now neither one wants. -
This deal isn't going to happen. Sounds like they gave him everything he wants and now he wants more. What he really wants is an excuse not to make the deal. Time to move to move. There are other candidates that can be successful if SLU is willing to keep the same level of commitment. Let's find one. Time for Biondi to give Cheryl the reins and let her do her job.
-
I hope they're contacting the other candidates. This just feels like we're being strung along. That's why the school is making it clear there is no done deal. They know it's probably not going to happen. It will be interesting to see what they saw at the press conference today on the progress of the arena. Does anyone think Biondi may duck out of this and give Cheryl marching instructions to only answer questions on the arena?
-
This deal sounds like it's about to implode. If it doesn't get done today, I don't think it's happening.

Basically the same as earlier - from espn

I've negotiated contracts. If both sides are reasonable and want to make a deal, they get done. If one side is interested, but not sure they can keep coming up with new concerns, negotiations drag on and the deal never closes. -
Does he have a representative here?
-
She may have been on a date.
-
I don't think FF is a good choice. I'd rather take my chances on an up an comer.

kmbilliken replied to moytoy12's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
If we don't have news by tomorrow afternoon that a press conference is being scheduled, I don't think this deal is going to happen. This is dragging on too long. I'm assuming they've been negotiating since Monday. That's plenty of time to make the deal. Something's holding it up and I think it's RM's cold feet. -
News has hit the East Coast
kmbilliken replied to Billi from Philly's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
This has the potential to be the biggest coup or biggest foasco in recent Billiken history. Biondi has to pull it off now or look like a fool. -
I'm wondering if RM still has cold feet about returning to coaching now. No doubt his agent is telling him to only take it if he's absolutely positive. If he pulls another USC no major program will ever take him serious again, so he may be thinking long and hard before he signs.
-
She may not want to stick around to take all the heat for the PSLs and increase in ticket prices that will be coming our way.
-
Those areas are certainly substandard, but would largely become nonissues if we put out a top rate team. The seats will be filled and publicity will follow.
-
If nothing else, maybe he'll at least make Boiondi aware of the upgrades necessary for this program to have a better chance to compete.
-
I agree. If we can't get RM do a real search and come up with the best guy for the job. I don't think that's FF. If you can't get RM or Gillen find the best up and comer that will take the job.
-
I'd love to have him, but I hope they're actively pursuing other options. He's been too close with other jobs and backed off to put all your eggs in that basket.
