  1. I just did a re-count of the tickets available online. It is now at 164 meaning an additional 238ish have sold since this morning. 136 of the 164 are 200s level $40 tickets, the rest are single seats in the $32 range. I think we are headed for a sell-out and don't have much to worry about.
  2. Thank for the info. Sorry, haven't been on twitter today. I was mostly curious if they fluctuate the # of student tickets based on other tickets sold or if it is a set amount each game.
  3. Is it 800 student tickets each game? I seem to remember 1,000 for Butler. Why the discrepancy?
  4. This is a wonderful idea. The $40 tickets sell fine against Buter/VCU or on weekends against good opponents, but no one in their right mind is paying $40 to sit in the 200 level and watch the Bills play North Texas or Eastern Illinois on a Wednesday
  5. There is an option to print at home now when you buy the tix online. However, they charge you $2.50 to do so vs. nothing if you pick up at will call. Seems bogus to me that if you print them yourself they ding you with a charge, but I've seen this with most other ticket operations as well. I suppose this is to cover the cost of setting up the print-at-home operation.
  6. This is encouraging. I counted open seats online the day of the VCU game and came up with a number around 270 or so. I hope that means 9,500+ is a safe bet.
  7. The Bills held up their end of the bargain. 2 wins and #18/19 in the polls. Who is joining me at Applebee's to celebrate?
  8. The 1993-94 team starters were 1 - H Waldman, 2 - Erwin Claggett, 3 - Scott Highmark, 4 - Evan Pedersen, 5 - Donnie Dobbs. Off the bench were David Robinson, Carl Turner, Donnie Campbell, Jeff Harris, and Carlos McCauley. Final record 23-6 (8-4 2nd in the Great Midwest).
  9. Yeah, those $40 haven't been part of the Groupon/Living Social deals. Therefore, I would not expect them to sell as well. They did sell those $40 tickets out for Charlotte somehow, but that was a Saturday.
  10. NBSSports blog CollegebasketballTalk.com has the Bills as their team of the week: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/25/team-of-the-week-st-louis-billikens/ This is the 3rd time this season they have had the Bills as the team of the week (2/25, 2/4, and 1/7)
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a history of SLU's wins vs ranked opponents?
  12. So essentially Palm is saying that SLU has to win @ Butler to be a lock? If you don't consider destroying Texas A&M (projected RPI 85) on a neutral floor or winning @ Richmond (projected RPI 95) to be quality wins away from home, then certainly GW (132) and Xavier (92) wouldn't qualify either. He is an idiot.
  13. FYI: In St. Louis, ESPN U is channel 216 on Charter, 208 on DirecTV, 141 on DISH, and 605 on U-Verse.
  14. Lindenwood is 16-7 and BT is averaging just 9.6 ppg and 5 rpg. Not terrible, but not very good stats for basically 5th year senior who was supposed to be a top 100 D-I recruit playing D-II. Alex Bazzell (former UMKC player who was with them when SLU played the Kangaroos and KM basically single-handedly beat them) is the leading scorer with 17 ppg. Looks like Sodie's top 4 scoreres (including BT and Bazzell) are all seniors, could be a big drop off next year unless Sodie can grab some more D-I players transferring down to D-II.
  15. I think Barnett can pick up some of the offensive slack when Cody graduates at least the outside shooting portion. Assuming McBroom is good enough, we will still have a solid 8 man rotation next year: RL, GG, DE, JJ, MM, AM, JB, and JM. I think JD and MC will see limited minutes, but might contribute a little bit. That leaves 3 open scholarships and it would be great if we could get a big who can play right away with one of those because we would be thin inside with just RL, GG, and JM. I like DE on the wing, but without adding another big he might be forced to play the 4 a lot next year.
  16. I agree. I wasn't trying to bash Kenny, he was a solid player. He would have been much better on a team that had more scoring options. It was a while ago and I was very young, but I sort of remember him being gun-shy, sort of the Kyle Cassity of big men. He would get the ball in the post and rarely do much with it. I'm not sure if he made any all-defensive teams, but his defense made up for his offensive shortcomings.
  17. Does anyone else remember the guy that used to yell "SHOOT THE BALL KENNY!!!" every time Kenny Brown touched the ball? Kenny was a very solid interior defender, but his offensive game was somewhat lacking.
  18. My wife is going on a mission trip to Zambia, Africa this summer with a group called WISE (Women's Inititaves that Stregthen and Empower). As you can imagine, the cost of the plane tickets to and from Zambia, along with room and board for the 3 weeks they will be there, and other costs make the trip a very expensive undertaking. As such, she and the girls that are going on the trip have organized some fundraising events. One such event is a dining to donate night at the Florissant Applebee's on Lindberg. Given that Applebee's is the celebratory restaurant of choice of the Billikens (or maybe just Willie Reed), I was thinking that some of the board members may want to come out to the dining to donate night to celebrate next week when the Bills are ranked after beating VCU and Butler. Here's how it works: 1. Go the Florissant Applebee's next Monday 2/25 between 4pm and 8pm. 2. Order food and drinks 3. Give the flyer below to your server and 15% of your bill will be donated to fund my wife's group's African mission trip through WISE. Please note that this does not add anything to your bill the cost to you is the same as a normal trip to Applebee's. All you have to do is show the flyer and they will donate 15% of your purchase. The important thing is that you have to have the flyer and give to your server.
  19. Not sure if this has been posted yet or not. Via Twitter here is what the Blue Out shirt looks like: Only students get the shirts (and they have to go to a pre-game party to get them). Therefore, if you are not a student make sure you arrive wearing blue.
  20. There are a number of difference between the Butler game and the VCU game that makes the VCU game a tougher sell. 1. Tuesday =/= Thursday - It is much easier for out of town folks to skip work on Friday and come in, a lot of students don't have Friday classes, etc. 2. Butler was ranked in the top 10 at the time and VCU is "only" #24. 3. Butler is a bigger name (2 championship game appearances vs 1 final four) and closer geographically. They also have a local player (Roosevelt Jones). 4. For the Butler game free shirts were given to everyone, VCU it is just the students. Its just a shirt, but people like free stuff. I will be happy if the announced attendance is over 9,500 and the crowd is a good one in terms of noise.
  21. I don't really want to further this topic along, but I don't think Bernie has written about the Billikens since Majerus passed away. I realize that he was buddies with Majerus and that's the main reason he wrote about them before, but with the great season they are having you would think he would have written another kind of tribute piece to Majerus about how well they are playing after he passed. I don't enjoy Burwell's writing or his new video thing, but he seems to cover the Bills a fair amount. Strass has written about the the Bills quite a bit this year. I wonder how much of that is because he is a huge VCU honk and only cares about SLU because they now share a conference with his team. Surprisingly Jeff Gordon has also given SLU quite a bit of coverage this year in his Tipsheet pieces. Again, I don't like his writing, but I'll take the coverage. Overall, the Post has been fair the past couple years in their coverage. However, I do wish Bernie would do a little more. He seems to no longer care without Majerus.
  22. College BBall Talk, the NBC Sports blog, has a post up about the A-10 action this weekend: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/15/weekend-preview-who-breaks-loose-in-the-atlantic-10/
  23. FYI: On the Chaifetz ticket website, for the $12, $20, and $32 price ranges only single tickets are available for the VCU game. Groups of tickets are still available in the $40 price range. As far as I can tell the 1/2 price tickets for VCU in the $20 and $32 are still available via the StlToday.com deal. I would assume they would remove the game from the list if these were sold out.
  24. Don't forget the cheerleader who is in remission.
  25. Matt Norlander giving this story some love on his CBS sports blog: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/21698393/wakeup-call-what-are-kentuckys-new-odds-to-win-it-all "And yet another good story on Saint Louis basketball. The program is the feel-good team of the year."
