  1. This article is up on SLU's website today. Not much new from Go_Bills post above, but it gives a little more detail:
  2. I don't think the A-10 has to react at all. Assuming X, Butler, SLU, and UD leave (long with Charlotte & Temple), they still have 10 schools (Duquesne, LaSalle, St. Joes, VCU, Richmond, GW, Fordham, UMass, St. Bona, and Rhody). That includes 2 likely NCAA teams this year (VCU and LaSalle) and still mostly bball-centric schools. I think the remaining A-10 would still have 2 or 3 NCAA teams most years. The fact that most leaving are on the periphery of the conference geographically means the remaining schools have less travel costs. If a very strong program from another conference (much like Butler & VCU this year) want to join then they would consider letting them in, but they wouldn't need to add schools.
  3. Rosenblatt II as you call it (actually TD AmeriTrade Park) is not owned by Creighton. While it is near Creighton's campus, it is not on campus. It is owned by the City of Omaha. Saying that Creighton has better a better baseball stadium isn't really true, they play in someone else's stadium. If SLU wanted to play home games at Busch Stadium, they could claim vast superiority to Creighton. Guess what? They play their basketball games in the Century Link Center (also owned by...you guessed it the City of Omaha). Again CenturyLink is near, but not on campus. Morrison Stadium (soccer) is the only one that Creighton actually owns. It is very nice and trumps the Herm, but overall I'll take the facilities that SLU owns over the facilities that Creighton owns.
  4. The game that is thread is about is a game AT George Washington which is in Washington, DC. If you are asking about GW student tickets or GW spring break, I have no idea. If you are asking about the LaSalle game on 3/9, I believe others have said that Saturday IS the start of spring break at SLU. I'm not sure about student tickets.
  5. Yeah that was bogus. There are the end (9 seconds left) I was really hoping the Bills would break it with the walk-ons and one of them would get a bucket, but they just dribbled out the clock in the backcourt.
  6. Well that makes me feel like a chump. I bought 4 $16 (regular $32) Living Social seats a few weeks ago and I was in the middle part of the very last row in a corner. Those are regularly $32 tickets, so I can't complain, but they were probably the worst possible $32 seats. Not bad overall because there is not any bad seats at Chaifetz. Still it seems like they should have been upgrading the folks who paid $16 rather than the folks who paid $6. Oh well, beggars and choosers and whatnot.
  7. Seemed to me that the only big group of empty seats was in the 200s on the end opposite the students. Late arriving crowd, but the place filled in quite a bit and was pretty near full just after halftime. Then a lot of folks began leaving early when the Bills had a comfortable lead and the refs began calling fouls on almost every possession.
  8. Via Twitter, this rally towel is the giveaway for tonight:
  9. This could mean they are 100% sold out of tickets, but I also believe that they stop selling online a few hours before game time.
  10. Cards sucked, Rams weren't here yet, but ironically the Blues (whose season most directly aligns with the SLU basketball season) were pretty good. I think this actually probably helped market the team since the Blues and Bills both played in the same arena so there was some cross advertising going on during the games. It didn't hurt that 1994 was the first year that Keil/Saavis/Scottrade opened and the Bills were in an awesome conference during those years (Great Midwest with Cincinnati, Memphis, Marquette, and DePaul). I think this year's (and probably even last year's) team is better than those teams, but the overall climate has changed so much that the hype around the team is not the same.
  11. Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but the SLU website now has a link for an application to purchase postseason tickets. I like that they aren't getting too cocky and have the NIT on there as well.
  12. When I get in there it shows about 40 $12 tickets available in section 221 and about 66 $20 tickets available in section 211. The rest are singles or very small groups together in the $32 range and then the $40 tickets. I think Roy is probably right about these being St. Joe's allotment that was just released.
  13. Now there are a bunch of $12 seats available that were not there before. I give up on using the online thing to figure out how close to a sell out it is.
  14. Meh. I would just start giving away the tickets at like 6am when only die hard fans would show up. That way you make sure the die hards have first crack at tickets, but leave the "free" ticket program in place so that the student section is always packed.
  15. Also of note: there are only single tickets available for the LaSalle game on 3/9.
  16. I just did a re-count of the tickets available online. It is now at 164 meaning an additional 238ish have sold since this morning. 136 of the 164 are 200s level $40 tickets, the rest are single seats in the $32 range. I think we are headed for a sell-out and don't have much to worry about.
  17. Thank for the info. Sorry, haven't been on twitter today. I was mostly curious if they fluctuate the # of student tickets based on other tickets sold or if it is a set amount each game.
  18. Is it 800 student tickets each game? I seem to remember 1,000 for Butler. Why the discrepancy?
  19. This is a wonderful idea. The $40 tickets sell fine against Buter/VCU or on weekends against good opponents, but no one in their right mind is paying $40 to sit in the 200 level and watch the Bills play North Texas or Eastern Illinois on a Wednesday
  20. There is an option to print at home now when you buy the tix online. However, they charge you $2.50 to do so vs. nothing if you pick up at will call. Seems bogus to me that if you print them yourself they ding you with a charge, but I've seen this with most other ticket operations as well. I suppose this is to cover the cost of setting up the print-at-home operation.
  21. This is encouraging. I counted open seats online the day of the VCU game and came up with a number around 270 or so. I hope that means 9,500+ is a safe bet.
  22. The Bills held up their end of the bargain. 2 wins and #18/19 in the polls. Who is joining me at Applebee's to celebrate?
  23. The 1993-94 team starters were 1 - H Waldman, 2 - Erwin Claggett, 3 - Scott Highmark, 4 - Evan Pedersen, 5 - Donnie Dobbs. Off the bench were David Robinson, Carl Turner, Donnie Campbell, Jeff Harris, and Carlos McCauley. Final record 23-6 (8-4 2nd in the Great Midwest).
  24. Yeah, those $40 haven't been part of the Groupon/Living Social deals. Therefore, I would not expect them to sell as well. They did sell those $40 tickets out for Charlotte somehow, but that was a Saturday.
  25. NBSSports blog CollegebasketballTalk.com has the Bills as their team of the week: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/25/team-of-the-week-st-louis-billikens/ This is the 3rd time this season they have had the Bills as the team of the week (2/25, 2/4, and 1/7)
