Agree. The staff started inserting Crawford into the lineup seemingly out of the blue to inject some life into our perimeter shooting and I think they are doing the same with Tanner. He can be a tough inside out matchup and if they can get him comfortable with a few plays and start to get a productive 5-7 minutes out of him it could be a new look and a difference maker for us. I also heard Rammer say on the pre-game that Tanner's knee had been bothering him and was back to 95% last night so that is likely why he has been MIA.

Not breaking any news here but I believe there is a focus on potential 2nd round match ups for a couple of reasons. First, we do a great job scouting teams which when given 4-5 days I believe gives us an advantage. With a short turnaround for Round 2 that advantage can be negated if we run into a team that is a tough matchup (like a GM or Oregon last year). Additionally, the fact that SLU has NEVER advanced to the Sweet 16 lends itself to fans (like me) looking ahead and hoping that we aren't faced with a "touch" matchup or playing a team in their backyard.

Because they need to fill buildings and there is an overall lack of teams from the mountain and pacific time zones.

Get in and then it's surivive and advance. Almost every National Champion has had a close call at some point along the way in the tournament.

Nice that we are in a position to nit pick AND still be on an 18 game win streak. Syracuse has been living dangerously lately as well and finally got burned. Florida has also had a few close ones. Gotta get the FT's back on track...we were 23-25 against GM at home. Also need to shore up the D...we seemed lost laptop times tonight. Even Stan Van Gundy...who loves us...commented about our D being out of sorts. Happy Flight!

Let's not forget that we went into Hinkle last year and got a W when the Bulldogs were hungry for revenge. Combine that experience with this teams perfect road record and I think a win is very do-able. VCU makes us do a few things contrary to our normal defensive responsibilities so I think the familiarity of having just played will be a benefit to this senior laden team. I also don't think we'll shoot FT's so poorly again.

Like him or not, Strauss has been pretty pro-Billiken since his responsibilities expanded at the Post and he is writing about more than just baseball. Additionally now that he is on the radio I've heard him be complimentary more often than not.

I'm fairly confident he is under-qualified.
