  1. didn't one of them tear their ACL and the other decide to go work as an AD in Greece?
  2. If all that is alleged is true, I think the nasty side of this is actually being ignored on this board. Where are you the controls in the school district to stop problems early on, and who does it affect when problems aren't averted? Somebody had to sign the checks, somebody had to account for them, somebody had to balance the bank accounts. There were plenty of outs for everyone involved, but they weren't taken and now we're here. If the finances of a public company worked this way, everybody from the lowest rung on the ladder on up would be canned for their roles. Hopefully, somehow, the focus remains on the kids in the school; Vashon, CBC, whichever other school you want to pick on, is there to educate. I understand that education can reach beyond the classroom, but come on, we're arguing over whether the guy is nice and goes to church on Sunday. Who cares? It seems that the educations of some kids were jeopardized, and that is f---ed up. There are many things more important in life than winning basketball games.
  3. I'll let you know after the second game; we've been figuring on the team doing well over the past two years, but it hasn't panned out. Last year, we played a brand of soccer that wasn't competitive with anybody, despite our talent. Hopefully we work past that this year.
  4. I think your point of view here might be skewed by how much running you want the Bills to be doing...a step or two up from last year, or a jump to forty minutes of hell? I think a step or two up would be great, personally, but we finished third in the regular season with a slower offense. Not too shabby.
  5. we need a center to develop along with our 3 freshman pf's. Recruit in a center, slide one of the bigger guys to sf, become the biggest team in the A-10, make teams adjust to us.
  6. V, I understand that you know the guy on a personal level, but to misappropriate $100k should surely end your job. Winning shouldn't make up for shady dealings. Nobody is untouchable when they commit wrongs like (allegedly) spending lots of someone else's money without approval. Go ahead, try that at your job, see what happens... One other unsettling item is that it seems pretty easy to slip some money past the school system's accounting folks. How messy are these schools? That seems to be a far worse situation than letting Irons go.
  7. He picked up a DUI at the end of March... http://siusalukis.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl.../032606aaa.html
  8. no worries there, gruehls...most of us college kids can't afford Scotch. The real question should be...Does he drink Bud Light?
  9. I just hope that somebody can step up and knock down their outside shots from the 3 spot. We got smothered last year when we couldn't bust a zone and all three of the low guys collapsed on to Ian. Maybe some good shooting might be enough for the coaching staff to overlook shaky defense in that 3 spot...
  10. I agree...but I would not be opposed to making all of the 16 seeds get through a play-in game.
  11. I don't believe that they can start practice until early August.
  12. I think we should offer Skylar so that we can get Scott's son...in twenty-five years. And coach's office is on the first floor of West Pine...walk in, look at the gym, go down the hallway on the right hand side. Stop at the door that says MEN'S BASKETBALL, then go in and take a left. OR, slu.edu, people finder on the pulldown menu, SODERBERG in the name box and hit enter.
  13. As far as the officiating in the tournament, YUCK... I hate blaming a loss on officiating, and I want to keep the thought clear that the crews weren't responsible for our lack of scoring... As a soccer referee, however, I'd question the consistency of the calls from game-to-game. It seems like no referee was making the same call as any other. Referees know that their cards are effective tools when used appropriately; some of those guys used them on a whim in trifling situations. I wish that the US would have had referee representation at the WC; that's something that may bite FIFA in the arse...no poor calls without representation?
  14. Bobby Convey's distribution looked great in the last 2 tune-ups before the Cup, but what happened to him and the rest of the midfielders... I agree that the 4-5-1 gameplan is miserable...we need to either be scoring out of the midfield or turning our man up front loose with GOOD service. The formation combined with the pace that we play at limits our opportunities. All in all, YIPES.
  15. where do the kids play on campus...simon rec??? also, what are the prospects of the...er, prospects...playing in the new arena if/when it is finished?
  16. I understand the goal, but last year's goal was to have Johnny D play up top and relinquish his midfield responisbilities; really, I'm agreeing with putting Dado up top-I think it'll benefit the entire team.
  17. I think it will help both DiRaimondo and the team as a whole if Johnny can stay in the midfield, instead of sticking him up top again; I think he's more involved in the game if he's allowed to play some defense. That sort of style allows us to have another creative midfielder with speed; hopefully he can make great supporting and outside runs, like he's been known for in his first three years here.
  18. I'd imagine that Men's soccer falls into that category, too.
  19. I'm not sure I'd believe that this is even a remote possibility...
  20. that trip is almost 6 hours, taking into account the nasty traffic and the pain in the butt that is driving to Loyola... that's unfortunate.
  21. extra competition helped Ian move along a lot faster...
