  1. I can still see my dad sitting in the kitchen listening to Harry Carey broadcasting the Billiken games in the early and mid 50's. He would get very animated, which was very uncharacteristic for him and sometimes funny to the rest of the family. I'm certain his passion wore off on me. My mom babysat for Dr. Roy Wolff up the street, a big booster of that time. He bought an extra seat for his big windup siren until the league banned it. Maybe once a year we'd get his tickets and it was always quite a treat for this younster.
  2. Play Xavier tonight. The Lady Bills are a very young team and will be exciting to watch next year.
  3. I think the issue is that Bernie isn't, and shouldn't be, a fan. What we do here is entirely different. He's a journalist and it's unprofessional for him to say that he's a "cheerleader" for the MVC. He's said strongly before that it's not his job to be a promoter, but he applies this claim selectively. The shot this morning was strange in it's context and egregious even by Bernie's standards. He had to stretch to fit that one in. And for all his blustering about the arena...where was even a word about that? At least he saved us the indignity of suggesting that Easy Ed should be the one excluded from the MVC team in favor of Wes Unseld.
  4. These guys check to see who's logged on, post about what they find and then tell others to "get a life". Is that chutzpah or what! Grow up fellas.
  5. It's sad when you really think about it. Seriously.
  6. Sorry, I get you both confused. The point remains.
  7. Phan, You're telling someone to get a life? Now that is humorous. Do you check often to see who's logged in? Son, you certainly do seem to have a lot of time on your hands.
  8. You have an unfair advantage...in a battle of wits with a man who's only half-armed.
  9. She'll never answer that question 'cause there's no answer. This gal's really odd. She actually hangs around here so much that she has an opinion who the "best member" of this board is? Very strange.
  10. Isn't Shortal Ed Macauley's grandson or am I thinking of someone else? I believe he went to SLUH as did Ed.
  11. It was a perfectly appropriate comment to make. Tommie did have some academic issues, it's been well publicized. Nobody made a racial issue about it until our resident moron did. But of course he reads the worst into everything and his single talent is manipulating people's words. Unfortunately, life is too full of these sad little people.
  12. I didn't know him personally, but met him a time or two. He attended nearly every home game with his daughters. In recent years he used a wheelchair. His son Larry played for one of SLUH's state championship teams, late 50's or early 60's.
  13. V-Time, You'll learn someday that there're no guarantees in life at all. But the choices YOU make can certainly improve your chances for success.
  14. I agree completely. While SAT and ACT scores certainly do not measure a student's entire scope of abilities or potential, to say that they mean nothing is simply untrue. Any school, public or private, that routinely pampers student-athletes who underachieve on standard testing are selling them an illusion. It does matter and denying that it does is a disservice to those kids.
  15. V-Time, you're talking in circles. First you take his low ACT scores as an opportunity to indict private education, then you agree they mean nothing. So what was the purpose of your original point?
  16. Amen. Sooner or later, this lad's going to have to step into the real world. It's just a shame that, in the meantime, he has to act so unprofessionally and make such a fool of himself time after time.
  17. I'd love to keep up this battle of wits, son, but you seem only half-armed at best and it really wouldn't be fair to continue. I'm out.
  18. She's standing right behind me and says you seem like a young fool. How 'bout your mama, son?
  19. Gracious, son, give it a rest already. Your "contributions" to this board are embarassing your mother.
  20. I'm not defending Roy...I don't have a horse in this race. My point is that your posts, more often than not, reflect poorly on you. You're very quick to find any reason to take a shot at someone but can't seem to take much heat yourself. You're acting the fool and simply need to grow up. Please.
  21. You telling someone to "get a life"...now that's chutzpah! Give it a rest, son.
  22. He's crawled back into his hole...nevermore!
