  1. I would hope there would be such a panel, and that it would not only be officers of the Billiken Club, but include some common everyday schmucks like most of us that have season tix. I volunteered to be on such a panel, but the person I told is not longer with SLU.
  2. BRoy, I see your point and agree, completely agree with your point, about getting PSL info to the interested parites as soon as possible. but let's look at why, perhaps, this has not occurred to this point. 1-the very recent decision on the TIF by the court which impacts the financing 2-the focus of SLU's fundraising arm (and that may only be the arm of FrB) on the medical research center 3-the pace, or lack thereof, of the fundraising for the arena which has impacted the features in the new bldg (adversly in my view) 4-the placement of a new AD who must try to put her arms around the entire dept, not just bldg the arena 5-the fact that we are at least $10mil short of the $35mil ground breaking goal (and I would not bet that the goal of $35 stays at $35 if the projection of operating profits changes negatively and other sponsorship $$$ associated with the bldg do not meet their targets) and therefore how many months away from putting a spade in the ground 6-why tell season ticketholders now, and you note the base is declining, that they will have to plunk down for a PSL in the future and that makes their renewal decision easier to walk away now as opposed to later 7-maybe the plan is to use the ground breaking hoopla, is that a wish?, to lay out everything, including psl policy? BUT REGARDLESS OF THE REASON WHY THE PSL POLICY HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED, IF PLANNING IS A REQUIREMENT FOR MAINTAINING MY TICKETS IN THE PSL WORLD I WOULD BE PLANNING FOR IT NOW BECAUSE I BET THERE WILL BE A PSL POLICY
  3. I have a question for the board given what I see as the overall reaction to playing at FA. Let's assume in order to have season tix in the new arena you must purchase a PSL for each seat. Where in general are your seats (ex ft line, up 10 rows) and if you had to pay today, what, if any amount would you pay and what do you think the PSL for your seat will cost? Assume no mandatory bldg contribution, other than PSL. My seats are 3 pt line across from benches about 10 from the top of the lower bowl. I would pay $400 per seat over 4 yrs and expect the PSL for those seats will be in that range (although 5000 * 200 = 1mil). Hope the others in my group will pay, too!!! Not sure they can sell 5000 at $200 on avg a whack, (this is SLU not the NFL) they better be NCAA bound to ask more than that in my mind. Big pressure to perform.
  4. BRoy, am I nuts or isn't Demetrious Johnson the self proclaimed heart and soul of Mizzou in STL? You are going to have to clue me in as to why he took the show down this line. Does he have history of being Anti Quinn as I am pretty sure he loves Pinkel? If this was April Fools I could understand.
  5. so let's look at both sides of the ledger (and I live in STC) pro - you can play the game on the date you want con - you have to play in an unfamiliar bldg con - you mess with people used to going to Savvis con- you piss off people that have to go farther to get to Family Arena than to Savvis con- getting out of the FA parking lot is a complete nightmare, not to mention it could take a complete night pro - you may get some people that will not go to Savvis that will go to FA (I would contend minimal) con - if there is a hidden agenda, that will piss off people con - why is this the first time this has happened?? it smells of hidden agenda pro - we won last time we played in FA with the help of officials and timekeeper con - how can students get there? (well, they don't go to Savvis either) pro or con - what sort of image does this convey? (I would say con)
  6. I'll bet you that in the Billiken Club renewal package contributions to the arena are addressed. It just has to be the case, and a little bird may have indicated something about this.
  7. 1-we develop some team chemistry before Christmas- the ability to blend the 3 talented fresh (I hope OI is able to make it 3) with the rest of the squad that had a disappointing record last year 2-we develop more than one proven, consistent scorer by the end of the year- I don't care as long as it is anyone other than AD (since he will be gone the following year). So if it takes until the last 10 games, 2 players in those last 10 games averaging over 15 points per game 3-UB shows a bit of restraint on the bench, ie no more temper tantrums (I just don't like it) 4-we get production from IV and BH, so between the two of them 36 min, 16 pts, 9 rebs, 6 fouls made and 7 fouls against, 2 blocks, 2 assists over the course of the entire season (I say 6 fouls and IV better not get 5 regularly)and we make other teams match up to us versus us matching up to them in this spot 5-we get and stay healthy -this scenario to me doesn't hurt recruiting for the following year and we start building a consistent top 30 program as I think 06-07 should shape up as a 20+ win season if these are met
  8. I don't think my sarcasm translated well.
  9. BRoy, you have to admit that Tom gets space in the PD as evidenced by his taking of pg 2 today (7-18-05) for 2006, yes that is next year's, World Cup. I know qualifying is now happening. Let's hope SLU can get some space......for anything, maybe at least the soccer folks will be happy with him on the beat.
  10. I would love to find a driver (golf) cover with the Billiken head.
  11. I think for bball about 10k. Not sure the bldg has ever had that for a sporting event. As a St Chuck resident that would kill my in season restaurant rotation. I find it hard to believe this post has any possible truth to it until I look at my season ticket renewal and the term 'Savvis Centre' is no where to be found, just my section and seat numbers. Any one gotten a Billiken Club renewal letter yet? Typically this letter has come before Season Ticket renewals and all $$ due the same time I thought so any possible upgrades could use the new donations to figure points?? The conspiracy theorist in me is going now. How would 5k per game differ from last year, not much, unfortunately. This would either be a huge, giant, big step backwards as it would alienate a whole bunch of people and possibly kill Billiken hoops for a while (try to recruit to this scenario!!) or it would rally the troops to get the Biondidome built. I hope we don't have to see this hand played.....
  12. Thanks for the breakdown BRoy and Guest, certainly gives those of us that may watch him in his sr yr things to watch, two things not addressed are speed and quickness, any idea about those as a wing in our system?
  13. My Springfield pulling the team off the court response was to TDOG, I must have clicked on the wrong link.
  14. Vtime says Irons is on their short list this thread is on the wrong board
  15. I believe that happened in Springfield, but your point is well taken.
  16. I think those Ritter teams with all the great players (White, Woods Carrawell,Evans) at least by where they went to ball college ball, only one 1 state championship. I recall they used to get beat by Portageville, who didn't have a player over 6'2" on their roster. My buddies and I had a theory that Preston Thomas, the Ritter coach, had an arragement with a car dealership that for every timeout he had left at the end of a game he got a discount as he was clueless. On kind of a different topic, I live in St Charles and got into large disucssions with folks out here who said Ryan Robertson was the best player that year in St Louis area. My arguement was it was Chris Carrawell who was a sophmore. This was before he hurt his shoulder. He could do it all. One MO class 2A championship with that roster, unbelievable
  17. Steve glad you are safe. Just an fyi, I was able to make a call to the UK just now to check on some friends, which surprised me as I expected all the circuits to be engaged.
  18. I'll chime in before VTime turns this into how Vashon should get scheduling preference in SLU's new arena over Billiken hoops.... The size of the conference probably prohibits this, but I love the way the Pac 10 works, you play Thurs and Sat in one locale, so UCLA goes to AZ and AZ St. A trip to Philly to see two games in 3 days would be real interesting to me.
  19. everyone's favorite referee, Gerry Pollard, has moved to the St Charles City Police force with his keeper, former Sheriff and now City Police Chief Mr Swope. So Gerry will be around keeping all of us safe. Oh wait, he has a deal that during basketball season he really has no law enforecement duties so he can concentrate on his hoops career.
  20. Nate would great at this, at least that is what I sent to Mr Starks. Nate, did we jump ahead....would you want this assignment?
  21. I don't remember seeing this before. Is this the second offer like this?
  22. Any reaction to the All Sports Pass (I think that is what is was called) that was included with the season ticket renewal? I don't understand how you can get 10 Billiken Club Points for $125 bucks or whatever it was, makes me wonder about the future of the Points program, wiht this on top of no understanding of how arena donations will or won't be handled. I guess this deal is to encourage people to go to games of sports other than just men's bball??
  23. Congratulations to all, as it truly is the Jesuit education that will stay with you for your entire life. This is fantastic.
  24. I certainly hope our team improves from last year in every aspect but my concern is with BH and BS. How could BH not get minutes on a team that was 9-21? and what makes us think he will get minutes this year? I realize IO's minutes are up for grabs in the front court, but I am still puzzeled by BS not playing BH last year (maybe I should get over that and wait to see how this yr goes). Also, for all you folks saying AD,DB,DP,LM,KL,TL will get minutes, we only play 5 guards/wings, so someone is left out of the mix.
  25. hopefully this turns out to be awesome and a turning point in the program where is she rated as a prospect? I haven't seen her play since she was a frosh
