  1. quite possibly a school that had two players drafted in the first round last night. bad boyz for life
  2. i've had enough. unless something is done about this punk 4-17. I will never post on this board again. See Ya
  3. at this stage, a much better player than brandenburg. better skills. bad boyz for life
  4. thompson was recruited by indiana, notre dame, alabama, iowa state (All BCS Conference schools). mitchell and reed are starting to emerge after strong springs on the aau circuit. reed had two or three great tournaments (gibbons and pulley) while reed is emerging by the sheer fact that he has grown about eight inches since he entered high school and he still may be growing. those are two young men who are starting to blow up heading into the summer recruiting season. it's important to get commitments from players like them this early. or else, you would be fighting a slew of new suitors in the fall before the signing period. just watch harrellson from st. charles. he had little interest, thus he signed with western illinois. had he waited, he would have some large offers. If he has a big freshman year at swic, watch how his recruiting goes. just of word of caution to you. at utah, RM did not get a bunch of McDonald's All-Americans and highly-rated players. Like he is doing now, he recruited a lot of guys who were lightly regarded by the scouting gurus, but were good players who were just beginning to come into their own when they signed. with his ability to develop players and their natural progression, voila, you have lottery picks such as Van Horn, Miller and Doleac. bad boyz for life bad boyz for life
  5. he was at the team camp last weekend for the first session. the second session is next weekend. bad boyz for life
  6. #15 would be allright with me. that's his current number. bad boyz for life
  7. richard anderson has been on campus to play with the guys a few times. his beaumont team has also been at the slu team camp for the past three years. bad boyz for life
  8. the streets are talkin' again. can't say anymore at this time, but be prepared for a little more good news. bad boyz for life
  9. do not sleep on duquesne. the new coach brought in a lot of talent last year, including the guys that got shot, plus the two stud transfers, the guard and the big man. everhart has been successful wherever he's been because he can recruit. bad boyz for life
  10. this kid sounds like another 6'2" shooter that people thought wasn't good enough to play at SLU, yet went on to have a nice career in the valley. Unfortunately, so did the head coach, which is one of the reasons why he is the former head coach. 4-17, blake couldn't lead DeSmet out of bad district, yet he was a four-year starter at MSU and leading scorer for all four years. go figure bad boyz for life
  11. larry does camps at cbc on a yearly basis. AI, LeBron, Gilbert Arenas and many others have been in town for to participate. larry has his own foundation, which is pretty active in ST. LOUIS, as well as whichever city he is playing in. you think syracuse thinks of carmelo anthony as a true orangeman, is greg oden a true buckeye? It's a different time. Magic was at michigan state just two years as was Isiah at Indiana. Kevin Durant at Texas. Who knows, if they had won national championships there freshmen years instead of their sophomore years, they might have stayed only one year as well. The stay in college may be only one year, but what these young men (larry included) do is win games, make money, put butts in seats and most importantly, it puts the school's program into the national conscience. That means greater exposure and better recruiting opportunities. It's up to the staff to take advantage of it. It's a great hit to lose a great player after one year, but that player puts you in a better position than where you were before the player showed up. bad boyz for life
  12. Josh may have to play at swic for two years. He still has to get a release from western illinois to be able to transfer from swic after one year, even as a qualifier out of high school. bad boyz for life
  13. mb73, quite possibly the most disgraceful comment i've ever read on the billiken board. bad boyz for life
  14. I like him because he is extremely athletic and he can shoot from downtown. If we have to play smaller, it never hurts to have as many shooters out there, especially with tommie and kevin, who will command so much defensive attention. bad boyz for life
  15. He also had a rep as a top recruiter while at boston college and ohio state. OSU went to a final four in '99 and if I remember, BC went to the elite eight in '94 before losing to kruger's florida team. biancardi was o'brien's top assistant at both places. needless to say, this is very interesting. bad boyz for life
  16. with the legend now in the finals, slu has yet another nice recruiting chip to play with. bad boyz for life
  17. not your post in particular, just the general tone. I didn't realize the general resentment of larry from slu fans. as for wade, he didn't get to play at marquette his freshman year because he was a partial qualifier. he was really good as a sophomore, but they were knocked out in the first round by tulsa here in st. louis. he reached his peak his junior year when he took mu to the final four. Who knows what would have happened had d.wade played his freshman year at mu and really blew up like larry did. he might have made the same decision, especially with a wife and kid at the time. I would have liked to have seen another year from the legend as well, but he played himself into the lottery by playing well beyond anyone's expectations as a freshman. we knew he would be good, but who would have guessed 20 points a game and several 30-point performanes and that 40-point bomb he dropped on marquette. so what larry left after one year, it happens quite often. besides, when he left the program was back in the national limelight, getting 20,000 people a night. spoon should have done a better job of recruiting and taking advantage of it. besides, the program didn't fall apart after larry left. two years after the legend, the team won the c-usa title and went to the ncaa tournament. it looked like he had come into his own as a pro in washington. he averaged 22 points, led the league in steals and made the nba all-defensive team. he was a natural fit for ed jordan's princeton, free-wheeling offensive system. the wizards also won a first round playoff series that year. since larry's departure, washington has been knocked out in the first round two years in a row. arenas has scored a lot more but he broke down having to carry too much of the load. you think they might want to revisit their decision not to match cleveland's offer and try to keep him. i've only met larry once or twice and really don't know his feelings about slu, but i know this. a billiken will be playing in the NBA Finals and that is huge for SLU, especially with a high-profile new coach and new beginnings. To have your school's best player in the modern arena sharing the sports biggest stage with the likes of King James and Tim Duncan is beyond prime-time. bad boyz for life
  18. One of our own is in the NBA Finals. I for one, am extremely excited and I can't wait for the championship series to start. Unlike many other people on this board, I'm not a Larry Hughes playa-hater who is mad at him because he had the nerve to sign a multi-million contract to play at the highest level and take care of his family. I LOVE IT! Larry would have probably been here another year, had he not blown up and become the National Freshman of the Year and averaged 20 points a game and taken us to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. To be honest, the one thread I read about Larry and people's feelings about him was truly pathetic. I thought billiken fans were better than that. I was wrong. bad boyz for life
  19. You take the power guy because he changes entire defensive game plans. teams now have to commit to double and triple teams and that leaves wide open shooters. shaq, duncan and hakeem have won nine championships during and after the jordan area's six titles. big jump shooters are great, but unfortunately, they get a little too soft when things get too hot. see dirk the past two years and okur during the spurs series. he was nowhere to be found. bad boyz for life
  20. put me down for the bostick kid from racine. bad boyz for life
  21. Arkansas also recruited a bunch of All-Americans back in the day. bad boyz for life
  22. Like a candle in the wind bad boyz for life
