  1. Maybe the wise thing to do here would be to contact KU and schedule a 3 game series; a home and home and a neutral in KC or at the Scott. As I understand it KU's not real happy about Mizzery checking out of the big 12 and there's no reason for them, other than a longstanding rivalry of conference foes, to schedule them.
  2. That's a reasonable excuse. But it doesn't explain away the fact he's had open shots and not made them like we thought he would. An open shot's an open shot, doesn't matter what system set it up.
  3. MM got a huge break last year by being a starter and our leading scorer. With the return of KM he has been forced to take a step backward. The sooner he accepts this and puts his ego on hold, he should be fine.
  4. I'm still surprised it hasn't been an annual game for 50+ years. The last 3 game series was great. Every game close, every game well attended, the media really into it. Then.... pffffffft, the air goes out of the balloon. We all know SLU would jump at the chance. Actually, w/ Mizzery being a publicly funded school, I think the Missouri legislature should force the game on them as a revenue producer for their publicly funded athletic program. But FC's probably got it right. If we were to meet in the NCAA and beat them, you can bet Mizzery would be wide open to the idea. UK never wanted the UL game until they lost to UL.
  5. It's possible JB's problems are he's pressing. I think we saw a lot of this in the early years of RM's reign. It seemed especially true with KL and TL under RM as they played a lot more tentative than they did under BS's time as HC The guy's a task master and you're gonna do it his way in his system or you're not gonna be at SLU. Simple as that. A lot of us credit CE w/ turning around the 09-10 season but maybe some of that was also due to players getting it just as CE arrived in St. Louis from down under. Now we're seeing a team that's been in his system for 2, 3, and 4 years and the results have been pretty amazing. JB did have that year of practice last season to learn RM's systems and expectations, but he was probably spending most of his practices as a scout player rather than actually playing RM's system. So, let's be a little more patient w/ him as he still may be in the learning process. All that said, an open 3 is an open 3 regardless of the system and he's not hitting them the way many of us thought he would. I didn't expect him to start this year, but he was billed as a deadeye. I was looking forward to a guy who come off the bench and end scoring droughts with a couple of quick 3's. So far, that's not been the case.
  6. Back to McCall for a moment. Any more on whether this is a serious situation, ie not making it academically, or really just an issue between him and RM regarding his academic progress? I know we're shrugging it off as minor, but sometimes where there's smoke there's fire. In McCall's case I'm hoping it's purely smoke. And I don't think Broy should be chastised for his comments re JB. When he was signed/transferred we were led to believe this kid was the real deal. And why not? He led a MAC team in scoring his frosh year. Heck, I think he was even TU's captain. Not sure why this hasn't translated well at SLU, but the fact is he's been a little disappointing up to this point.
  7. He's definitely looking like an all conference player for sure.
  8. The McCall situation leaves one w/ the impression RM's dead serious when he talks about academics and is not just paying it lip service. Good to hear it's not an eligibility issue.
  9. One other note, Big 10 play starts before NY Eve I believe, and some of their ranked teams have some tough matchups in the early going. But this poll thing's going to be a very fluid situation for the teams ranked 20-35. In one week out the next. Let's just keep our eye on the ball, which is making the dance.
  10. I can't see us making it again until conference play starts. But we'll also have to beat UNM there and UD on the road before it happens. Ill won't drop that far, I don't understand all the love for Tx A&M anyways, Vandy's out but we've still got like 5 or 6 spots to jump over. Alabama St ain't gonna turn any heads this week. They kind of suck and a 30 point win should have been expected.
  11. That would be great. Love to do it, just hope I'll be sober enough to cheer on the Bills. Would love to meet Broy, Thicks, yourself, Signguy, if he's in town, Taj Mahal but he's too busy in DC so I might see him in Atlantic City, Box, the Shoes, and a whole bunch I can't remember right now.
  12. According to Nark nothing to be worried about. He was on the bench but didn't play.
  13. David, you reappear. Am going to be there for the Temple game, and you're one of the posters I'd finally, after 11 years, like to meet. Hope that's possible.
  14. Jeez, I'm really beginning to hate Xmas parties. Thought I'd come home and catch a little bit of this one on the web. We win by 30, that's good. What's all this negativity about MM? Didn't even see him on the bench? If that's true he's either broken an RM ruie, which could run the gamut from a TO in practice to having problems academically. I don't think we should lose our top scorer from last year, but given the talent RM's stocking for future years you have to wonder if MM might just not see where he fits in? That's a question for those of you in the know. Calling Billikan and Da Vola.
  15. Anyone know anything about these guys? I saw where the Wiz picked us to win by +20, but these are the types of teams that scare me, ala Ill State Springfield. Also, I see where RM said on Thursday we had our worse practice of the season. C'mon, Bills, now it not the time to be looking past any team.
  16. Which is why we don't land 5 star athletes. But, really, who needs 'em? I like our program just the way it is. KY fans, and other BCS programs, can boast all they want about their bb teams and their multiple national titles, but at the end of the day it's a sham that is so far from what college sports is supposed to be about it's laughable.
  17. Why are you such a nattering nabob of negativity, B-Rich?
  18. Thanks, Mr. Bizzle. I thought Taj Mahal 79 named JJ as a transfer candidate on numerous occasions, but didn't want to dothe research. Uh... Mr.Taj Mahal, can we revisit that you had his bags packed and the cab out in front of his dorm? I think Slu 72 is in line for an apology as well. (Forget that telepathic BS comment I made earlier.)
  19. Call me telepathic, Taj. I couldn't recall if you named names, but I was thinking we were all pretty much thinking about the same kid. Glad he didn't, as I don't think we've seen the best of him. Just having a little fun wit' ya's all.
  20. Check the golf team's roster................................................ Oops, my bad, we dropped golf.
  21. I agree. But that dang APR thing might come into play, since we'd lose any control over the kid's keeping up w/ his academics, eg Brett Thompson. From what I gathered last week on this subject, we're on very thin ice with that whole APR thing.
  22. You thought? Taj Mahal, you had his bags packed and the shuttle waiting outside his dorm to take him to the airport.
  23. You'd better get on your hands and knees and pray to the Big Billiken in the sky, because in a very short time you are about to feel the wrath of Broy.
  24. It's probably gonna take winning out and beating NM to crack it again before conf play because out next 3 opponents don't have any glitz. Again, the important thing is for them to take care of business. Also we'll need the 20-25 group to lose a game or two.
  25. Taj Mahal, there is little hope for you if you're an Iggles fan. How 'bout the New York Giants last night, though? Never too late to jump on the wagon, Tajy!
