  1. The road is a hard place. And a bunch of others struggled and lost on the road this weekend. Still, I figured our D travels well. The disappointing thing about the RI game is we couldn't hold them to under 60. What is inconsistent is our offense, and I've not seen it run seamlessly since those November games. Now that's probably due to early season ignorance on the part of our opponents, but still we ran it to a T, now not so much.
  2. I don't know, Taj Mahal, sounds kind of nerdy to me. Just win the damn game, Bills, and like Tom Coughlin preaches, "FINISH"!
  3. Taj, I didn't even want to look ahead to the Dookies, which is another dangerous roadie. It's really one hurdle at a time right now. Amazing how in just 24 short hours a Billiken fan can go from trying to figure out which regionals they would travel to, to taking consolation in the fact that a lot of the NIT games are shown on ESPN. There are times I truly believe this program is cursed. How else do you explain such a damaging loss. But unlike the Red Sox, who got rid of theirs, and the Cubs, who haven't, I just don't know who to pin it on since the Babe never played for us, and I can't recall anyone bringing a goat to a Billiken game. By the way, if we do make the dance and are in the Louisville regional, you'd better plan on spending big bucks for the tickets. I was talking to a KY fan yesterday and he spent $1,500 for his package. The place will be a sea of blue grass.
  4. No sense in crying over spilt milk as they used to say, or as Jimbo would say, cripes another Gran Marnier on the carpet. X is in this week, and they are playing for as much as we are, if not more. I still think this is a very dangerous X team that is just chomping at the bit to get on a roll and get a bid that they consider to be their birthright. I am really really worried about the X game. Especially since we've gone back into the "it's tough being a Billiken fan" mode. I'd expect X to throw a little 2-3 zone our way, and am sure today's practice, after a well deserved verbal beat down from RM, will be dedicated to searching for ways to beat it. I still think this team's fortunes are tied to KM's back. He's had games where he looks like the soph KM, but just doesn't do it consistently. He's got to do it against X. RM may not want to talk about the dance, but he knows these 2 games are the whole season. I wouldn't like our chances if we have to win the A-10 in order to get in. And I'm sure getting tired of saying, "wait until next year". This is not the time of the year to be fumbling and stumbling, so get back your mojo Billikens and make X feel really uncomfortable this week. .
  5. This L is just so hard to accept. But how they rebound against X and DU will decide our fate. If we win both and even lose the first tourney game, I think we're in. Split with X or UD we've got ourselves in a mess. Go 0-2, and we'll have to win the A-10. It's there for the taking boys, so go out and take it. By the way, this is not the first game we've had problems w/ a 2-3 zone. The problem there is other than CE, we don't have another guy who's consistent enough from outside to worry anyone who'll go to a 2-3.
  6. Let's see, Baron can recruit good bigs, and RI's record is what this year and Baron's likely gone come late March.
  7. All I got out of the PD article was they're practicing today. You can bet no one... no one not even the Good Dr. will be allowed in that session.
  8. Obviously, we can't win in New England. What a bummer. No, make that a friggin disaster.
  9. Wake up call time. We can w/ stand a road loss even to RI. But the final 2 have to go our way and probably win 2 at the tourney. God, it's back to being hard to be a Bills fan. Nothing comes easy.
  10. Life on the road is very hard. But it's not supposed to be insane. Why haven't we put these bozos away yet?
  11. I'm glad I'm not watching this on the web. I don't really want to buy a new laptop.
  12. Obviously, if the Beast loses it's auto bid for the BCS that is going to make schools like SD, Boise, Houston, and others rethink the logic of belonging to a league headquartered in Prov RI. Ok, I can see the Beasts 7 bb only's thinking about adding just UD, Butler, and X to a new league. But one would hope Biondi is on the phone to his fellow Priests making a strong push for SLU to be in this mix as well. Butler right now seems to be in the catbird seat as they can sit back and weigh various options, but save for the last 6 years or so, their resume was not what you'd call star studded. And if the A-10 were to lose two of it's flagship schools, UD and X, I'd have to think we're Valley bound. While X and UD may not consider us as rivals, we'd be losing the only two naturals we have in the A10.
  13. Alright, maybe I over reacted to the losses. But you have to admit that loss to LMU two days after we slip into the rankings was a killer. I really think had we won that one we'd have stood a good chance of still being ranked to this day. The L to UNM at the Pit would not have hurt as bad nor the L at Dayton one game later. But I like the PD's column on Humans v Computers. Big Brother knows all.
  14. If they really look deep enough, the only two bad losses we have are to LMU and UMass. We should never have played LMU. The game was unnecessary especially after 9 days on the road. UMass? I don't know why that went so bad, other than they shot lights out. Maybe the Temple game because it was at home.
  15. The possibilities are staggering: 1.) Blake Ahern to take job as FT shooting coach. 2.) Josh Harrelson to intro his exclusive new line of Billiken Plaid Jorts. 3.) Horace Dixon is no longer a threat to our APR, he graduated from NORTHEAST WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 4.) The official Billikens.com announcement that, IT IS NO LONGER TOUGH BEING A BILLIKEN FAN. 5.) Triangle and Too's triumphant return to being a regular poster on Billikens.com, and as an added bonus will give us his exclusive on who will replace RM when he decides to leave. Hint: He currently coaches a school in Georgia, but after he's fired he'll replace RM. 6.) SLU will leave the A-10 for the GREAT NORTHERN CANADIAN conference where we will play our long term rival, Carleton the Duke of Canada, twice a year. 7.) The Saintsations will change their name back to the Baby Blues. 8.) Willie Reed will announce his retirement from pro basketball. 9.) Father Biondi in his souped up golf cart has secured the pole position in the Daytona 500. 10.)Michael Jordan is suing Jordair Jett over the rights to the new JJ tshirt.
  16. Rather than discuss what a mess the Beast is, let's look at this from the perspective of what's best for SLU. Most of us on here have been strong proponents for SLU staying in the A-10, but if teams starting getting picked off, most notably X and UD to go to some half breed FB/BB conference, which on the surface makes no sense whatsoever, what would/should SLU do? It would make sense for SLU to petition the MVC to be a member. What little geographic identity the A-10 has now would be gone with the elimination of X and UD. Granted the ideal for SLU is the fictional "Papal Conference" with an East and West division, but the Beast non FB'ers have never voiced their support for the ideal. For some reason they seem content to stay with a Beast that is spread out all over God's green acres and made up of schools that share vastly dissimilar academic values. And what does a FB centric league do for a BB centric league? At that juncture doesn't it make sense for the Beast BB'ers to just say screw it we're splitting and starting our own high profile BB only conference? And hopefully they make a call to SLU to join the new Western division. But what if SLU, X, UD, and Butler all got together and joined the MVC? I'd take that over even the current A-10 as a more desireable conference for us. Granted, not as desireable as the Papal idea, but a whole lot better than to stand pat and watch the A-10 come crumbling down around us. And as an aside, I don't think Temple's the keystone of the A-10. Yeah, if they left it would sting, but not kill. Now if X and UD jump ship, then it's time for us to find a new home.
  17. And tell ND to go screw 'emselves. Their FB program is not relevant, so let 'em replace Butler in the Horizon.
  18. Let Temple go... puhleeze. End the madness. The Beast will eventually fold as the BCS will look at their FB lineup and go, are you kidding? Lets have SLU lead the way like we did for the Great Midwest, just don't call it that. Call it, The Left Over Conference. .Charlotte will be looking for a new home as they've added FB. The Beast is not likely, but also the Beast BB only powers have to be scratching their heads saying, what's happened to our conference? No Cuse, no Pitt, no WV, soon to be no UConn, UL, UC. Now we get UCF, TCU, et al? Get smart forget the Papal deal and just add the best BB only schools left standing. Twp divisions: East /Midwest and we know who those schools are. Get 'er done, someone.
  19. If we can hold serve these final 3 games you've got to think that will get us back in the top 25. None will be easy, 2 roadies, and a schizo X team. Hopefully the team takes no one for granted, as it seems that's exactly what Vermont did last night w/ Binghampton. But as stated before good D travels well and can keep us from stepping in a big pile of doo doo in our March toward March Madness.
  20. I'll beg to disagree on JB. I think it was more than just one time, but really who's counting? JB certainly seemed to possess the cred to be a future all A-10 after his FR year at TU. The fact he couldn't even get in the rotation just proves how much talent this team has. Still, I'd like to see him come thru next year as a legit 3 threat, if that's his strength. You can never have enough talent.
