  1. Going back to last week's discussion about Catholic/private school baseball programs, I noticed that St. John's and LeMoyne College (Jesuit, in Syracuse) qualified for the tournament as well.
  2. I'm pretty sure that BLKNS is right about Pedersen being at West, although Evan was older than Highmark, so he wouldn't have been on the West team that won state in 1992. I think Pedersen started out at Northwestern and transfered to SLU after returning from his mission.
  3. Seton Hall has an excellent baseball program, only five seasons with an under .500 record since 1950. And of course, our own Matty Mo is a Seton Hall alum, as is Craig Biggio.
  4. I'm a little disappointed that we won't be playing Charlotte twice, but I'm very excited about playing XU and UD twice.
  5. I'm not disagreeing with you, but in retrospect, the 2000-01 team was a disappointment, finishing 17-14, but without a postseason appearance. That year's squad had a pretty decent lineup.
  6. Be careful, the last guy who claimed that his team was reloading as opposed to rebuilding took a lot of heat here! Just kidding. XU looks solid for years to come. I was impressed with Cage and Doellman last season. Doellman reminds me a bit of Steve Novak, but perhaps with more athleticism. I can't wait to start playing XU again so that we can rekindle the old rivalry!
  7. Marque and Jeffers were no slouches either. Had Spoon perhaps exerted a little more effort, we could have had some really impressive teams after Larry left.
  8. It's good to see that XU has a commitment from one player on the list and interest from several others. Looks like Gregory has been recruiting hard for Dayton as well.
  9. Although we didn't play XU, Lionel Chalmers graduated a year early and played out his fourth year of eligibility last season.
  10. That guy has posted erroneous SLU items before. He posts under several different screen names and is a total troll. I wouldn't believe that post.
  11. Hire me as your marketing man and we'll be good to go.
  12. Clarke seemed to be putting it together towards the end of last season. He showed some glimpses of what he can do, and hopefully it helped his confidence. I think we'll see continuous improvement from Darren. Meyer would be a more logical choice if any player were to be redshirted.
  13. I was just at Crestwood last week, and the hat stand there (Lids?) had a great selection of SLU hats, all prominently displayed. The stand is over by the entrance to the Pasta House.
  14. To anyone who is interested in making a donation to help fund our new arena: the latest edition of Universitas includes a donation envelope on which you can indicate that you would like your gift to go towards the Saint Louis University Arena Fund.
  15. Thank you for the update, Mr. Whelan. We appreciate all the hard work that you and your staff are doing! Best of luck!
  16. Thanks for posting that, Roy. Maybe Kevin's little brother will be a Billiken someday too!
  17. I think there was some concern about his ability to qualify academically.
  18. When did the university announce that it's instituting a PSL program?
  19. I know that the Cintas has workout/training facilities on-site, and I think it is home to the athletic offices as well. The Cintas also houses the dining facilities for all of the residence halls. Their pizza is pretty good.
  20. How 'bout that Va'shun Newbourne? Could be quite the player, eh? Let's leave our discussions here to Billiken basketball.
  21. Have we (or anyone else in the area) recruited Murkey at all? He's at Gateway Tech, right?
  22. Steve Schiff from Channel 4 also used to live there. Yes, I possess a wealth of useless information. I wouldn't mind living there myself, if I could only drum up an extra $200k or so!
  23. Unca, did you live in the Central West End? I've heard that Karen Foss used to live in the Oxford Building, which is just around the corner from me at Union and Waterman.
  24. I like the idea of adding Evans as well. It's a bit of a gamble, but if he can fully recover from his injuries, he sounds athletic enough to be able to develop into a nice player if he can commit to Brad's system. And having another local kid would be great too.
  25. I think that the management at Channel 5 is just incapable of judging talent. Remember the weather guy they hired before Cindy Presler - Paul something? He had absolutely no personality whatsoever, and had a short stay in St. Louis. I've seen him recently on The Weather Channel.
