  1. Yes ... there is something to lose ... Brad's control of the team. Everyplayer knows what is expected of him in regards to effort both in practice and in games, if Brad claims to demand your utmost effort at all times and then doesn't stand firm ... then his demands mean nothing and players pick up on that quickly. There is a big difference between working hard and "working hard". We do not have the overall talent to win with anything less than everyones absolute best effort every moment. Brad knows this and is demanding it. He is at SLU for the long haul and is building a program ... he cannot give in ... regardless of the results of any 1 or 2 games. Even regardless of who's senior season it may or may not be. Take OU and Kelvin Sampson ... I am sure everyone on this board has seen them play ... he very seldom gets Mickey D players or has players playing in the NBA ... but look at the success of his program ... it took a while and has come in steps ... he even let Ryan Humphrey leave over his unwillingness to give in. Ryan was the best big man on the team ... The program and team was and is better for Ryan leaving. My point is that we have to play a certain way and we cannot bend ... it is not a hill but a mountain we are climbing and you don't just leap to the top ... you must climb it one step at a time. (that is a quote from the infamous Jim Hoffman) Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  2. Josh is playing the point for us ... because we have Reggie ... Josh is not a true point guard and is clearly out of position. I think Josh could be a very good 2 with a good point ... problem is we have not had one during his career. A true point would get him open looks from the 3 and draw his man away opening up a lane for Josh to drive ... Josh can get to the hole ... but only with the intent to score ... that is a problem for a point gd. as it doesn't take to much film to learn that your big can let go and help out with Josh as he won't very often find the open man off his drive. Josh lacks a points vision and ability to create easy opportunities for his teamates. That is the main problem with our offense the last few years ... we haven't had a real point guard. Everyone must be able to create their own scoring opportunities. The motion offense will create some open looks from the 3 off screens ... but none inside. Josh is a 2 gd who is doing an admirable job playing the point for the Bills. I commend him for his dedication to his team. I think Josh could be a 2nd or 3rd team CUSA 2 gd. He is now and has in the past given up that opportunity for his team. This team really misses Brandon Morris. Brad dropped the ball when he didn't know Brandon might not become eligible and did not have a back up plan. If you have seen Tommie play you will see a player with a point guards vision Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  3. I agree with the above sentiments ... I heard most of the radio segment. He did try to say that SLU wanted to be part of a Catholic conference down the road and SLU beleives that the A-10 is the bettter road to get them there ... but the overtone was that he didn't agree ...and fat mike just came out and said he didn't. He never tried to defend why SLU should go to the A-10 over the MVC. Apparently he gets paid more from the MVC than from SLU. I suggest all alumni, season ticket holders, and Billiken Club members send an email to Woolard letting him know how we feel. If Doug learns how his fan base and contributors to the program feel ... maybe he will take the steps to clear up the issue. Also ... I will if I can be there ... but if not somebody else should let whomever is there know what we think ... especially if it is Coach S. He is a no nonsense guy. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. 4. Look ... SLU is an amateur team. Mizzou might as well be proffessional ... that is what you call players that get paid to play ... isn't it. Vanilla ... go back to your own board ... you do not come here to add anything ... just to downgrade the Bills. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  5. Well Well Well ... Come on Tonka get it off your chest On your rotation I agree except for CS for JJ. I would love to see CS as the sixth man ... I said in the preseason the 1st 2 guys off the bench should be CS and AD. But ... I think JJ has to work in practice to start ... If he will get it ... and it looks like he is a little ... then I would start the lineup you listed. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  6. BCPres ... has the Blue Crew turned people away? and if so why? Just curious Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  7. Sorry ... but I disagree ... Brad has a system and the players are going to get it before they play ... I agree with him. They are 18 and 19 year old kids ... you can't tell them one thing and do another. If he deems they need to work harder in practice but plays them anyway ... what does that tell them. Right now he is telling them there are rewards to be had ... but this is what you have to do to get them ... now it is up to them. It is not Brads fault that he doesn't have Jr's and Sr's that can play without us needing JJ and DC to play substantial minutes. He has to stick by his system if we are going to get to be a consistent NCAA team Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  8. I should have gotten that one ... classy but not completely correct though Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  9. JJ and DC are freshmen ... lets relax ... It is obvious Brad was recruiting 4 year college players ... ie Bryce and Ian (whom he new would probably lose 10 games when recruiting him ) At this point 1 year and on to the NBA players aren't waiting in line to come to SLU. He has JJ and DC for the next 4 years ... he has to make them learn the system and play his way ... otherwise when they are at the same level in 3 years that they are at now ... some one will say " Why didn't Brad force them to learn and play the game correctly ... he just can't develop players" I get the impression Brad wants Jr and Sr dominated teams ... when they graduate the sophs are ready to step in with 2 years under their belt. Well this takes time ... Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  10. I only meant by his ability to take a step back and hit with incredible range ... with that said Clag was a shooter only ... he came off a lot of picks to shoot. He did have the ability to fake a step forward and back step and shoot. In no way did I ntend to say Ahearn was as good as Clag. ... that is why I said a bit like Claggett... just that one instance when he took a step back and let it fly reminded me of Erwin Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. 11. putting the L on him? I don't get what you mean Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  12. I was at the Grambling game early ... Ian was standing around in street clothes shooting from all over ... Typical of Europeans he has a sweet outside shot with great rotation and form. I know that doesn't answer your question as we need him inside ... but just thought I would add it. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  13. Agreed ... on every point you made Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  14. I'm late getting into this ... but I am 100% in agreement with Brad JJ is a freshman ... how can he demand more for the next 4 years if he doesn't demand it now. He can't say you earn playing time by giving your heart and soul in practice ... and then play him anyway when he doesn't. I would disagree though with his firm sit the rest of the half rule with the second foul. That is not an effort thing ... sometimes guys foul when giving their best and sometimes there are bad calls. That is a game management issue and should be a guideline. For example Reggie did not make a mistake if the 2nd foul was a bad call ... but yet he gets no chance to perform ... and we needed him desperately. If the fouls were lack of effort ... then I agree with sitting him. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  15. Ahearn could play a role for us if we would use him ... we don't set many picks to get our perimiter shot. Ahearn can shoot, but if he is left alone to create he is a different guy. For them he is going to be the guy ... remember Steve Alford at Indiana ... set him as many picks as neccessary and let him shoot. I wish we had him Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  16. Regarding Ahearn ... I remember one specifically off a loose ball and another where Sloan (I think) closed on him and he just took a step back and swish. This guy can shoot. SMS runs sometimes 3 picks in a row to get him open ... I missed most of the 1st half as I showed up at Hotshots ... no game and couldn't seem to find it ... I took off to Sportszone and saw the last 3 or 4 of the 1st and entire 2nd half. Reggie cannot get his 2nd foul in the first half ... I understand the foul was very questionable ... it shows how 1 foul can change the entire game. We need Reggie on the floor ... If he is there they do not go to the locker room up 13. I think Coach needs to change his philosophy. Reggie is not known to foul out and the second was on the offensive end. I say you play him with the instructions to be very careful. No reaching, move his feet etc... Rest him periodically to keep him fresh and away from the lazy tired foul. Why can't ... either our bigs ... Sloan, Frericks, JJ, Izik get positioning inside to receive a pass ... and if they are open why can't our guards get it too them. We have had a problem here for sometime. Our guards are always pressurred as there is no threat of an inside game making a defender drop down to help. Frericks has the moves in he can get the ball down low ... he just cant get it. Same with Sloan and Izik ... Izik especially ... he is quick enough ... to make the defender foul. I can't imagine 17 points in a half ... That is ridiculous AD ... 7 for 34 from beyond the arc ... 13 for 28 from within this year ... Fisher another solid game. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  17. I agree with the Ahearn comment ... and it appears it wasn't just one game in which he was fired up. From what I saw he looked good and he can shoot ... He reminded me a bit of Claggett ... just back up and shoot. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  18. I may show up ... I was planning on going to St.Louis Sportszone on Watson in Kenrick Plaza ... It is a much better place to see a game than Hotshots ... any interest in changing places. Anyone else going out to watch the game. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  19. Rich ... you are right about the insurance ... It is stupid ... especially at the price most young people pay. I don't require full coverage ... I take an occasional loss as they won't pay if they wreck it ... but I think that can be justified by the savings to the majority of customers. It pays off in the end ... they appreciate it and stay loyal. And I know what most my competitors do ... that is good for me. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  20. Actually I do have honor and integrity ... I have a buy here pay here lot that is a member of the BBB. 1 resolved complaint in over 2 1/2 years. That is a stat that is unheard of in my industry. So please don't insult me personally ... BTW I do have this real nice unit a little old lady only drove to church on Sundays ... interested? Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  21. Drew hustled ... but guts ... he was scared to shoot. I remember times when he was left open for two weeks straight and wouldn't shoot. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  22. Right ... I'm "naive" and you think Quinn is an honest guy who has just made a couple of mistakes and Ricky Clemens could possibly pass 3 real credit hours in an entire year. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  23. My ex-wife is from Charleston Mo ... and knows the whole Frazier clan. Ricky lives in the bootheel area ...still Charleston area I believe ... I met him a couple of times. I will just say how valuable an education from Mizzou has been for him ... I'm pretty sure he knows how to count dimes. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  24. DC got hurt somehow ... near the end of the first half they had the medical staff attending to him ... I saw a lady use a stehascope and then the trainer hold up a finger and move it back as if he was trying to get DC to follow it with his eyes ... he did this numerous times. I don't know what happened though. Izik shooting the pull up helped him draw his defender closer which helps him get to the hole. Varner played well ...if he is used right he can get us a couple of three's a game. They need to be able to get the ball inside more for times when the perimeter game is off. Especially to TF and I'd like to see JJ get it down low. He had a fantastic drive near the end with a huge jump step ... he missed the shot but it was a nice drive It was nice to see us make a quick offensive run ... the score was 14-12 at one time ... and then within about 10 minutes it was 43 -12 Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  25. The only person I know or know of with a law degree from Duke is Quinn. He doesn't seem to know the laws of his chosen proffession very well ... so I would have to assume the same applies for his degree. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
