  1. Frank was at the game and was VERY impressed with Parker.  Hed discussed it with Rammer on his show this morning on 590 AM.  He talked about what an unbelievable squad we would have next year if Perkins returns, with Parker, Perkins, Nesbitt and Jimmer not to even mention Collins.  I'm sure it has been covered on Billikens.com but I had forgotten that Parker will have 3 years of eligibility at SLU

This just seems like crazy talk. Coach sliws down the game when every MBM knows he shouldn’t. He doesn’t use his team’s athleticism to his advantage by full court pressing and running enough. Again just an amazingly obvious strategy that every MBM knows would work better. He doesn’t take time outs at the spots that all MBM’s know he should. I could go on as there’s probably a half dozen or so more things he does wrong that a good MBM knows better than to do.

Skip you are missing the blue font!  Maybe Old guy can help you with that.

I think St. B and VCU will both be good turnouts. While St B has pretty much fallen off a cliff they still have some name value from making the tourney last year and being ranked earlier in the year. Plus they’re both Friday night games, which always get everyone out.

Don’t expect middle of the week games against La Salle and St Joes to move the needle though

I don't disagree with you about how it will probably work out, however, watching the students it sure seemed like they were having a ball as they should have.  Why would you not want to show up after tonight?  What else would you be doing when the LaSalle and St. Joe's games are played ?  It's not like a few years ago when you had to endure catching a school shuttle to and from Kiel !  Now all they have to do is walk 1/4 mi with friends and have some fun yelling for 2 hours.  Many (most?) of them couldn't tell a Bonnie from a Hawk.  Ford does more to get student support than any coach I can ever remember.  It's time for them to pay him back by supporting the school's team.

fans must not have liked the shirts.   wife and i left with 8 various sizes.  could have had 28.   must have been dayton fans that didnt want a souvenier.  oh well stocking stuffers for my kids and grandkids.   loved that i got a few mediums and smalls.   not just large and xl's like usual.

    i love the shirt.

what a crowd.  particularly the students.   and for the record, i dont think a one of the students left early and they were awesome the entire game.

Good for them (the students).  Now if they will just repeat it in the remaining games, that would be great.

Okay, let's get it over with now.

THAT WAS THE WORST CALL I HAVE EVER SEEN.

These refs are horrible.  They are getting paid off.

Jimerson was held, HE WAS HELD....NO CALL!

How can we play 5 against 8?

Good enough?  Now let's simply enjoy the game.

Love it!  That's a classic, as is Rammer.

On the topic of attendance, students were required to register ahead of the game bc of the expected crowd. They are opening up 400 additional seats for students and all tickets have been claimed, so should be 1,500 students there

I hope there isn't a food giveaway or if there is, that you get it as you leave the building, once the game is over.  I am so sick of seeing the student section filled at the beginning of games only to lose at least half of the students at halftime.  It really hacks me off, especially at the games where student athletes are honored at halftime and immediately leave.

-it would be nice for TJ and Williams to hit some shots as at some point, perhaps Saturday, there will be an even greater focus on stopping GibJim, who is going to score when that happens? I think it will need to be a total team effort

-I wonder if Traore was kept on the bench as long as he was because the dance and technical? kid shows a knack

-Travis, settle down a bit and be careful with The Hook, tough for kids to play if they are scared

Agree about The Hook.  It's what caused Grawer to lose the team and then his job..  I can see using it if a player does some stupid things that are inconsistent with the coaching instructions , but NOT for making a mistake or missing a shot or causing a turnover.

@almaman ---- I agree and while that bodes well for next year, it still begs to the question of a secondary point guard for development.

What about the guard at CBC, Martin?  Is he in the upcoming class with Kramer, Thames and Parker.

edit:  I just saw that he is in this next class and seems, from pistol's comments like he would be a good fit.  He has some good offers, e.g. Dayton, K St, Iowa and the powerhouse 125 miles west of St. Louis.

Actually, it will get us a top 25-ish NET ranking.

I hope your are right, but with only two teams ahead of us in the current NET-Davidson, 38, VCU 53- I find it hard to believe we can get close to top 25.  While the Wiz might be the only poster who can figure out NET, I think we need some better wins than our remaining schedule would allow, to get to top 25 land.  If we can go 15-3 or better in Conference then we will see.

Not worried in the least, if you watch our offense any shot he takes is a good shot.

Then why isn't he making them?  We need him in the 40-44% range to win the Conference.  I used to feel confident when he put up a shot from the arc, now not at all.

If SLU just stacks up wins and maybe drops a conf game or two they will get in.

Look at Loyola Chicago last year who just stacked up wins and ended up at a NET I think 25ish?

I also think there’s some point differential or defense metric that can help too.

While it would be nice, winning all our A 10 games and then losing in the Conf Tour.  isn't going to get us to a 25ish NET or not even close.

I agree with your main point, but let’s not blame the committee for this hypothetical outcome. We failed to close-out against good teams. Period.

Last night was a nice win, but it won’t move the needle much.

BB40, I agree with you and am not blaming the Comt.  We are responsible for our record and failed when we needed to succeed (at least 2 of 3 in the Belm., UASB, Aub trio)  What all the 15-3 or better posters seem to ignore is the fact that if we don't get the A 10 automatic bid, that means we have lost our last game (the L in the Conf. tourn.}  As we saw from an earlier post, the 1 pt win, at home, against IONA did not move the NET needle, which means to me that it will also not be given much credit by the Sel Comt.

We shouldn't be worrying about NET. It's an exercise in futility. I don't think even if we went undefeated in the A10, but don't win the tourney, the committee lets us play. ESPN had an article yesterday that 8 big 10 and 8 Beast teams will make the field. That's crazy, but it's likely to be close to that. Bottom line, we've got to win in DC come March. And I think with the further development of Okoro and Nesbitt, we've got a better than good chance of taking the tourney.

72, you are absolutely correct.  We need to win the A 10 tourney to get in the NCAA.  I have been saying that since our losses to Belmont, UAB and Auburn.  Others seem to feel we can get in with a 15-3 or 16-2 Conference record.

Listening to all the Selection Comt. members talk after the NCAA is set each year and all they seem to talk about is good wins or bad losses.  My point is that we have and will not have, any notable or "good wins."  That ship has sailed.  If our best win is at Boise State, that is not one that anyone will be talking about.  Neither will a 1 point win at home over a MAAC team, even if it is the best MAAC team.  We had a chance to build a resume early in the season and didn't do it,  so beating up on weak A 10 teams and beating the mid-level (SBU, Richmond, VCU, Davidson, Dayton) teams isn't going to help our image as for as the Sel. Comt. is concerned.  Too many NCAA slots are already taken by the image of too many P-6 schools

Obviously, some posters disagree, but I don't want to be in the bubble team grouping on Selection Sunday and hoping to hear our name called.  The only way to not being in the bubble category is to win the Conference tourney, otherwise we are leaving our fate in the hands of a P 6  group of administrators.

I tend to agree with you. The only thing is that I do think SLU is uniquely positioned to be able to compete with the big schools (maybe not the top tier) as a mid-major in this NIL world.  Only have to focus on bball, Located in a major city, $$ from donors and alumni commitment to athletics & facilities, etc.

A question donors might struggle with;  Do I give to a University fund raising effort, for example the new Athletic Building or do I give to an NIL fund which can help recruiting?

This could have serious impacts on future SLU fundraising. If I am one of the big multi-car, multi location car dealerships, so i want my $50,000 donation to just be reflected on a wall in the new building which lists donors, but will never be seen by the general public or do I want to. pay a local star a total of $10,000 to appear at 10 of my dealerships for one hour each to sign autographs and be in pictures with kids of potential car customers?

Annie played at UMSL. (She’s a nurse.) She played high school ball for SLU Women’s Soccer assistant Chris Allen. Shields recruited Allen to coach at SLU after getting to know him better during Maddie Pokorny’s recruitment.

Ellie Paloucek previously played for Lou Fusz (both USYS and Girls Academy) club ball with current SLU players Emily Gaebe, Madelyn Smith, Xavier’s Chloe Netzel. Some of them won the U16 USYS National Title a few years back.

Some of the players graduated this past year, and, some, including Ellie switched to Sporting Stl, (Girls Academy). Several of their teams had a nice showing at the recent big California Winter Showcase.

Lou Fusz is strong in the younger teams right now, U15 and U14 in particular. Former SLU assistant Bry McCarthy is one of their coaches. They made the National Finals and National semis last season in Girls Academy. Sporting has a local U12 player that won all 4 games for USA Futsal in Madrid, Spain over the recent holiday.

Ellie Paloucek is a very good pickup for SLU’s Women’s Soccer team. She’s a multi sport baller. She’ll play high school soccer for Webster after the basketball season. Her soccer club team at Sporting Stl finished in first place in the Texas heavy Frontier Conference with a 10-0-3 record this past fall in U19. (2023 SLU commit Nina Preusser plays on her club team)

Besides Ellie and Nina, that Sporting STL (which has always played as the Red Devils) team is loaded with D 1 signees, As best I know, they have at least 1 each on D 1 scholarships to Mich, Iowa, Nebraska (Omaha), Col of Charleston and Bellarmine with some of their rising Juniors (in addition to Nina) being heavily recruited by some big D 1 programs.  I think that team has won 4 straight Missouri Cups.
