  1. Was watching Ch 5 Sports at 6:00 last night and the new Sports Director pronounced Cal Eldred's last name as Eldridge and Jason I's last name like it ended "hauser". Unbelievable for a sports director in St. Louis. These are not mistakes you make after at least a month on the job. Also, watch his hands- if he is saying a number under 6, he uses his fingers for emphasis. Hey, I don't need to see 5 fingers to understand the word "five". I found the comment in this thread about Rene and Frank getting in each others way on the Sunday sports show interesting since I made the same comment on this board about 3 weeks ago. It hasn't bothered me anymore since I have switched to Ch $'s competing show on Sunday night. It is much better, in my opinion.
  2. On KFNS this pm, Rammer said TF was done for the year.
  3. He did all the warmups, including layups. I also noticed he has a nice outside shot for a 6'11''guy. If he was unavailable it sure didn't appear to be for physical reasons. He has pretty much been "unavailable" the last 2-3 games.
  4. Ross, great effort, you rebounded like a man possessed and made 2 key freethrows down the stretch that have been overlooked by most of Billikens.com world. But for those freethrows This Board would be much different today Regarding the Anthem, what was the school thinking? Why have the 3 girls sing an Anthem with 25-30 new, unwritten notes and then have Ross sing the version we all grew up with? Is it asking too much to sing the song the way it is written? Thanks for a great job on the real National Anthem, Ross. It's a shame the school felt the need to put on a lounge act b/4 you!
  5. "Some"? Try a couple of thousand. I was amazed and p!$$ed as I watched folks piling out beginning early in the 2nd half. It really was a ball for those of us that stayed and made more noise than I have heard at a Bills game in quite a while.
  6. No. Does that tell you anything when he doesn't play even when TF is out and the opponent has a 7' center? Great display of guts by this group and BS. Congrats guys, sorry so many "fans" left early (as usual) and didn't get a chance to see what you guys are made of.
  7. The game was not being televised so no video review was available, but the light at the top of the backboard came on as the ball was going through the hoop so I don't believe a review would have changed anything-the ball was clearly out of Phil's hand b/4 the horn and/or the light. Maybe I missed posts on this topic, but did any of you who stayed to watch THE WHOLE GAME notice that Guy P. declared us the winner at the end of regulation-maybe GP thinks tip-ins of 3 pt shots also count for 3 pts?
  8. Great game, great post except for one point-I don't feel sorry for the "fans" who left early. They are probably the same people who left the Louisville game early last year. What is wrong with many of the people who attend Biliken games, why leave early, especially on Senior night? I think it is just flat out disrespectful to the players and the coaches-think how you would feel if you were on the team and saw the place emptying out with 10 minutes left. Unfortunately, many of the people who make it a habit to leave early are people who you would least expect it from-people with multiple season tickets and in one particular case a former well-known player. Where are you going folks? It is great that you buy tickets and come to the games but why not come to all, not 3/4th or 7/8th, of the game. By the way, on the way out of the game I was walking close to a guy who felt just as strongly about this point as I do since he said that he hoped the "leave early crew" threw their tickets away on the way out so that they couldn't get a free meal at The Pasta House. Sorry Kim. This was just a great effort by an undermanned group of kids and a Coach, none of whom knew the word quit. It made you proud to be a Bills fan!!! No matter what happens the rest of the way, your comebacks against DePaul and Houston show just what you are made of and we are glad you played for the Billikens. Thanks for a great year!!!
  9. I'll go American on you-IO is a potential Buick, Ian, who didn't even play 1 minute tonight against Houston when TF was in street clothes, is a potential Ford Focus, at best. It is obvious that BS had identified him as unable to compete at this level(yeah, yeah I know he is a freshman but so are many other players with size who never contributed at D-1 level basketball).
  10. How does she get 14 when the men only get 13?
  11. David, the answer to your question is------IV and BH won't be good enough to compete in the A10 or to help us get to and/ or win in the NCAAs. As I've said before, you can't fix slow, timid and non-athletic. With JJ not stepping up this year and what I've seen of BH in practice and IV in games and practice, we need help up front next year big time. We also need some shooters/scorers but it looks like BS has solved that problem w/ LM DP and TL (if he gets in). Look up this post in a few years and I bet BH and IV will not have stayed 4 years or contributed much while here.
  12. I enjoyed your post from a few days ago which did not receive any replies. I agree with most of your opinions and comments, but after watching the Cincy game, the second half of the Tulane game and the Louisville game it is all the more obvious to me that we need real help up front next year. My only argument with your post is with pts. 6 and 8. IO is not a rebounder and I still fail to see any potential in IV. (Apparently Coach BS is somewhat in agreement with me re IV based on his lack of playing time in the last 2 games, even with TF unable to go) IV got 8 minutes in the 'Ville game, 3 in the first half when IO needed a breather and the last 5 minutes of the game when Brad was throwing in the towel. It is noteworthy (and of concern) that IO & IV played a total of 32 minutes in last night's game and managed a TOTAL of 1, yes one, rebound! I believe we are in dire need of an athletic PF who can jump and is quick, much like the entire Louisville team. This recruit doesn't need to be powerful, just athletic like the thin PFs from So Ms., UAB, Cincy., UNCC and Louisville all of whom have made our 3s and 4s look like they are standing in cement. In addition, we need to start recruiting over IV and BH for the 5 position after TF leaves, otherwise we will be looking like the Spoonball teams with great perimeter players but no big man to control the middle. If we are really going to be a team of consistent NCAA quality, which I think BS is capable of making us, then he needs to start getting the big men necessary to complement players like DP, LM and TL. Tall and slow just doesn't get it done anymore.
  13. You guys have completely missed my point on Jeff Harris and Matt Baniak. I used them only as a point of comparison for certain traits they had vs. IV. I never said IV was like MB, frankly I don't think he has MB's skills-I only compared him to MB as far as playing with no emotion or intensity much like Baniak and often having the ball knocked out of their hands due to this lack of fire. I only cited Jeff Harris as one of the examples of intense players who rebounded well due to the desire he and my other examples played with and which IV is totally missing. Reading all the posts of the IV supporters convinces me of only one thing-he is a point guard in a 6'11" body (he passes well and can shoot free throws, both traits of a good PG). I'll concede he does both things well, but he can't rebound, jump or defend quick big men, all things I look for our Center to be able to do. Maybe time will prove me wrong but as I said above, I've seen few, if any, players go from timid to aggressive.
  14. Reading into your post, it seems that you agree with me that IV cannot run or jump as MB could. You even agree with me that MB was soft (truly an understatement) but without any foundation you then say IV will be a banger. Attending 10-12 practices and just about every home game makes me wonder which of us is smoking funny cigs. I have watched IV closely and see absolutely nothing that would lead me to conclude that he will become a "banger". I see a timid young man, and I grant you he is young, but he has played in international competition so he should be over the deer in the headlights thing. He shows no desire or ability to rebound even at 6' 11" and that is one of the truest measure of the intensity of a player e.g. TF, Justin Tatum, Jeff Harris, Donnie Dobbs and Anthony Bonner justto name a few.
  15. I can't figure out why you jumped all over me when I said we shouldn't count on IV to be a real contributor while just a few days later you put down JJ and Reggie and basically predict a loss at Tulane. I guess it's only unacceptable when others point out weaknesses in the Billiken program, not when you do it. By the way (and I truly hope I'm wrong on this) I couldn't disagree with you more re IV. Yes he can pass and has a decent shot, BUT he can't move or jump and he plays with a complete lack of emotion. You have mentioned a few times that he'll be alright after some more time in the weight room but lifting weights can only do so much and I don't see it fixing IV's problems. All I see is a taller Matt Baniak who, like Matt, gets the ball knocked out of his hands a couple times a game because of a lack of intensity. As I see him he needs more heart not more weight and I've seldom see a player grow heart. Again as a real Billiken fan, I hope to be 100% wrong on this one.
  16. With one more (hopefully a Center/# 5) this could be the all-time great all-lefty team!
  17. Feel free now that you've found a dictionary to (not "too" here) learn how to spell those big words. Also, you should not hide behind the term "typo" when it's really a lack of knowledge. I think you have lost your way from www.tigerboard.com. Please go back, you are boring at best.
  18. At the risk of again offending Billikan I will give you my honest opinion-BH will never make an impact at SLU. I've read all the "he's only a FR stuff" about IV and BH but I believe they both have deficiencies which time won't cure-they are slow afoot and can't jump therefore neither can defend or rebound against the level of teams we will normally face. I don't see time in the weight room fixing the problems BUT I SURE HOPE I'M WRONG!!!
  19. Maybe bye ur 4th year at State U. u'll learn it's "too" not "to". Just another example of my tax $$$ being wasted-you, Cheeseman and little racist law student Amy!
  20. Great story by Bernie in today's PD re TL and DP and their impact on SLU basketball. The VG and "Cheese" are trying to figure out how the story got printed since people who "pay" for the PD don't care about the hometown team.
  21. Gosh, I never thought about that-you are one clever person-probably at the top of your class at State U. Read TVG's post you moron and if you can't understand my post then you better go to Law School with Amy at State U. By the way, are you and TVG one in the same since you have taken over for him on this issue or is he just a little behind you in learnin' down in Boone County and, therefore, unable to read. At least you can read, you just can't comprehend.
  22. TVG, your point 6 is very interesting-I'd be interested in what possible basis you would have for it. Maybe those of us who steal the PD are more interested in the Bills-why should those who pay get better treatment. Your post proves just what an idiot you are!!!!
