  1. Maybe he will be the next Rik Smits. I actually saw Rik play in the 80s at Marist. He was kind of a bean pole but he had great career with the Pacers.
  2. We really did not have that many. Some may have been good like Cissee, given a chance. I did like Linnsen. I think he provided a nice unique role.
  3. I am talking about all of Ford's 7 years. Other than one late run to the NCAA's which lead to VaTech blow-out, all the years have been mediocre at best.
  4. Do you think Ford had any choice in this decision? First of all, I liked Chris Harriman a lot and was sorry to see him leave a decade ago. Hope all is well with his son. I think things may have turned out differently if he stuck around when Rick passed. Question: what you expect Chris to do other than hopefully bring in some top-shelve overseas recruits? Those that think of us to be the next St Mary's, I don't think so. The problem in the past was not our talent. It was coaching, game planning and player development. Too bad retired Bob Mckillop not available. He owned Ford.
  5. I don't see were he committed to Creighton yet. Just has the offer. Maybe holding that last scholie for him if he wants it.
  6. Didn't Pepperdine have issues with Josh Fisher's transfer? I always felt bad when Ryan Hollins de-committed.
  7. I am no big Ekker fan and I was more than happy to see him go but Ekker's budget, even taking account inflation, was probably a tenth of Ford's. Couple that with a totally dysfunctional Athletic Dept. back then.
  8. We may to figure out how the Rays do it.
  9. That's unfortunate for fans. HTC Center not really in Myrtle Beach, It's is in Conway, about 15 miles from downtown. So if you not driving in, you will need to rent a car or uber it. If it was at the Convention Ctr you could have got a place at the beach (dirt cheap in November). Walk to plenty of restaurants and to the Convention Center. I will be in Myrtle Beach in May for a week.
  10. https://slubillikens.com/news/2023/3/24/track-field-gillen-sets-record-wins-5-000-meters-at-raleigh-relays.aspx The kid is fast!
  11. I know the area well. For 16 years I had a condo in the Porcher Ave area. They probably will be playing in the Convention Center-in the downtown area (seen Clemson play Coastal Carolina play in the Convention Center years ago). Used to have a big HS tourney over Christmas called the Beach Ball Classic that was also played in the Convention Center. I should be able to make it. BTW: Lots of good seafood especially around the Merrells Inlet area.
  12. I believe Yuri signed with Octagon last year. It's a large agency that represents a lot of professional athletes.
  13. Bump! I don't know why, my bracket is a piece of garbage.
  14. My bad on this one, it was Clem Haskins. I corrected my post. Clem was All Ammerican at WKU and had all those issues at Minnesota years later.
  15. I saw the Bills play WKU in the 1980 Connecticut Mutual Classic in Hartford, they had Clem Haskins who replaced Gene Keady as the coach. Haskins had many good years at WKU, where he should have stayed. That particular SLU team was an Ekker team and WKU stomped the Bills.
  16. Getting Tillett is turning out to be huge. She comes from a low-major obscure program and in the 1st year propels SLU to the dance. Also A10 Coach of the year. Good chance she could be another Katie Shields. I don't often watch women's basketball but I watched these 3 A10 conference tourney wins. Congrats to Coach Tillett, Lady BBall Billikens and good hire Chris.
  17. Yes I did find it weird, you just back tracked on the standard you set.
  18. They did fire Hugh Freeze after they found Memphis escort services calls on a University supplied cell phone (not a bright move). Liberty had no trouble hiring him. Next year Freeze will be at Auburn as HC. Holier than thou Texas will just have to hold their nose when they play them also. Seems SEC $ is a big enticement to compromise oneself.
  19. It's starting early: Kermit Davis and Ole Miss agreed to part ways.
  20. I got to the game 45 minutes prior to tip-off, they were all gone. I only make it to 1 or 2 home games a year (2 this year, this one and the Memphis game) because of distance. One thing I don't understand, folks leaving with 2 minutes left on the clock. This game was anybodies game with only a few seconds before the final buzzer. I had a aisle seat and what annoyed me is these folks walking up the steps and blocking my view. Anyway, a win against a hot team.
