  1. I'd agree with Rap...frankly I don't even consider it music and baggy pants. I love football and we mourned our UT Vols loss on Saturday. Soccer was something I enjoyed watching our Bills play, and I still want to see them excel.
  2. I also was born and lived most of my life in St. Louis. I graduated from SLU's Business school in '71 and the last place I worked in St. Louis was A-B. I moved to Seattle in '96 and after getting water logged, I moved to Palm Harbor, FL in '00. While I love Palm Harbor...I strangely count myself as a St. Louisian even though I have no desire to ever permanently move back...I am still a die hard fan of all of the St. Louis pro teams too. I became hooked as a Bills fan in the late 50's when I attended my 1st game against the Don Nelson led Iowa Hawkeyes (a Bills loss)...I had season tix to the Bills games for years before my gypsy moving around. I don't get to see near enough Billiken games living here in FL, but I do hope to attend the Georgia Tech game in Dec. I cannot wait until the new arena is completed, so I have an excuse to get to some home games. While I like the Kiel/Savvis Center, I have never thought of it as a good SLU home court. I cannot wait for this season to get started, and think very highly of our Head Coach Brad Soderberg. We will go placed under his leadership IMHO! John
  3. BRoy, You are too much...LOL! I feel that I have gotten to know you enough that being labeled a bitter man is pretty darn funny. I've met lots of bitter people in my life and you wouldn't even come close to that tag...JMHO!
  4. My thoughts exactly...some people need to get a freakin life!!!
  5. Are OK I suppose if they are watching for profane posts. Giving Ian the nickname of Zorba is hardly falling into what I would even fathom as questionable. However, then again for me, I believe that political correctness can and does go over the line in many times. In other words, I'd say lighten up a little and try enjoying life. The board is meant for fun...giving Bills players nicknames is supposed to be fun part of the board, and Zorba is not an over the top nickname at all!!!
  6. To rain on the parade even as he tries as hard as it is for him to give mild praise to the Billiken program.
  7. I thought that it was already a done deal that we know that Ian will have to sit out the first 10 games. Am I just dreaming that up or wasn't their a ruling that already came out. Reggie B. will also miss the first 3 for the Villanova phone card fiasco.
  8. slufanskip, I got to talk to Tuna at Spoon's restaurant after Bills games. I'd agree with much of what you said about him. Much of what he says is tongue in cheek and strictly for effect.
  9. Not a biggie, but it was a verbal...cannot sign anyone until November. I'd be real disappointed if the P-D did not have something then.
  10. Jalensdad2002, Thanks very much for sharing Tommie's Jr. stats which are very impressive. I look forward reading some game reports from you here at my Palm Harbor, FL Palatial Palace. I am pumped that Tommie decided to become a Billiken.
  11. IMHO it hasn't really taken Coach Soderberg a lot of time to put his stamp on this team. There was no question that he was dealt a poor hand, but Coach impressed me with his roll up the sleeves attitude for making positive things happen. He has shown with this years recruting class that he can get the talented local kids. I believe that we have a lot to look forward to under Brad Soderberg's able coaching. I said when he took the job that Rome wasn't built in a year. I think this will be an interesting year and any postseason that would come will be gravy.
  12. Injuries and grades...Hmmmmm! We're back to the same thing when we are saying the only freakin reason the Legend stayed is because his brother needed a new heart. No, this guy isn't going there again...I'm giving our HC the lion share of the kudos for these recruits. He worked his tail off and his hard work paid off.
  13. I saw East TN State in a 1st round NCAA Tourney game in Tampa. They lost a heart breaker to Wake Forest, and they played the game without their top scorer who was being disciplined. They appeared to be well coached to me.
  14. The Tipoff meeting should be held after the signing date, so Brad could get his just reward...a standing ovation for a job well done!
  15. SLUNATE, I could not believe all the posts deleted yesterday by the Internet policeman aka Mike Smith. I was wondering what the horrilbe things that people wrote were to get kicked off. Several of them seemed Rush L. related.
  16. It's becoming increasingly good to be a Billiken Fan!
  17. Heck, Faith Hill and Shania Twain are two of my favorite female artist and I could care less if they can sing...they are both very lovely females IMHO!
  18. SLURadioBoy, Where do you work...I wrongly thought looking at your moniker that you must work at SLU's radio station. Do you do all sports format? The all sports in the Tampa area suck! In fact it is so bad that one of the two staions is going to the ESPN radio feed for most of the day which will be fine by me.
  19. Kwyjibo, Thanks for the recall on your previous post. I think that you had Rich's HC at SLU pegged very well. Let's face it though, he did resurrect a program that was brain dead. He was the right man for the job that needed to be done and I'd agree that at his firing...he was pretty well wasted and he needed to go.
  20. Nate, We need to make you a Billiken fan (PSU is too far away) even if of the closet varitey. While I like Bernie and I may be one of the few on here that does, he rarely gives SLU any positive press. Stu does a decent job as our beat guy, but the P-D has not had a real good college basketball writer since Dave Dorr was reasigned some years ago and I left St. Louis in '96...it was before I left town. I think that we do have a nice class in place and we owe this to the hard work of Coach Soderberg and his staff. We asked them to sign some of the good kids in this class and they have delivered the goods with one scholie to spare. The old saying on this website is: it is hard to be a Billiken fan. Well, with this recruiting class added to the kids that we have and the awesome arena on its way...it's getting a whole lot easier to be a fan of this program. Jump on the band wagon, Nate, this program has plenty of room for a fan from the P-D.
  21. Rich Grawer saved the program from extinction and I will forever be thankful to him for that. He was a good recruiter. His style of bench coaching became maddening at times...what with yanking players in and out of the lineup for any discretion or screw up. He always had someone in his dog house and I seem to remember that even AB made it once or twice. His favorites were Kevin Footes and the Big Chill. No question that Pete Gillen and XU had Rich and the Billikens number. Rich was outcoached in many of those games and many of the L's happened on our home floor. Xavier did have some darn good talent too. How many times did Byron (Barry's brother) Larkin break our heart with his left hand shot?
  22. Miami just dodged a major bullet at home against West Virginia 22-20 kicking the winning FG with 14 seconds left. I guess they were looking forward to their neighborhood brawl with FSU next Saturday. By the way, Winslow's kid made the crucial 4th down catch to keep the Canes alive. That kid would look awful good in a Rams uni soon.
  23. Thanks for the information...we have enough weirdos who pay visits to this website trying to put our program down. I happen to be one of the fans who feel that we may be just on the cusp of doing some very good things in the near future, and I did not want anyone appearing to rain our parade before it even gets started.
  24. Super Nate! If that is you job then I hope it is paying you big bucks!
  25. Not trying to twist anything...just saying I agree with AB's comment and not too surprised he made it.
