  1. Versus Eastern Michigan, IO was 9-12 from the field and 5-6 for the field for 23 points. Versus Troy, IO was 5-6 from the field and 2-2 from the line in only 23 minutes. You can't shoot much better than that. He also was rebounding better earlier in the season. And like Thicks pointed out, IO started less than half of the games in his Billiken career before this season. Yet he is putting up the best numbers of his career by far this year, when he STARTED 20 of 24 games.
  2. I admire Brad's loyalty to his players but when loyalty to 1-2 players start outweighing your responsibility to put the team in best possible situation to win, everyone suffers. I'm sure Reggie would have embraced reduced minutes while he recovered from injury rather than getting his brains beat in for his senior season -- if Brad has pulled the trigger on that decision. But the coach has to make that decision -- a competitive player isn't going to volunteer to sit. Like Brehms has said, Reggie's the type of guy who will say "everything's ok", even when it isn't.
  3. From what I've read, Novelly is a very big contributor to St. Louis U. but since he's such a private person Biondi won't disclose how big his contributions are.
  4. IO has been playing off the bench for most of the time he's been here. It was only this season that he was a full-time starter. And he was playing just as well earlier in the season as he is now.
  5. There are a few athletic power forwards putting up those numbers but are there any big-bodied centers, even in the top echelon, who are putting up 14 and 9 on a regular basis?
  6. Roy, how many centers in Division 1 with Ian's athleticism put up 17 and 10 on a regular basis?
  7. Drejaj is a "scrapper" that coach most identifies with on this ball club. I think he's a lock for the rotation the next year, barring injury.
  8. Sloan was probably the 2nd most athletic player over 6'6 (the 1st being JJ) that we had in the last four years. Unfortunately in this program that ain't saying much.
  9. He's playing a bunch of no names, lost his best player and yet Texas Tech is much better than last year. I thought his coaching prowess was a bit overrated considering the pool of talent he had to draw from at Indiana, but the job he is doing at Tech is amazing.
  10. Have we asked Lou Fusz, Jr., Bob Dierberg and Andy Puzder (Hardee's) for a donation yet?
  11. I've read about Miranda having grade issues in at least two newspaper/Internet guru articles.
  12. Don't know anything about him but I'm sure there's a good reason a regional 6'7 post player hasn't been snatched up by a mid-major already -- either grades or he's a project.
  13. I've been rooting for Luke Meyer all along and asserted recently that he needed to pull even with Danny Brown this year if he wanted to be in the mix for the rotation. Going into your sophomore year as an "unproven" player when there are more talented "unproven" freshmen coming in often means a career of riding the bench. Luke's scaled that hurdle now. So the fact remain remains, barring injury, a pretty good guard is going to be out of the rotation next year. The likelihood that it will be Luke has gone done dramatically.
  14. The situation remains the same. There still isn't room for a sixth guard. Luke's recent performance just made Brad's decision harder, that's all.
  15. Seriously, what is the AD supposed to say about her number 1 project? Cheryl's hands are tied until Brad can show that this horrific season is a fluke.
  16. Well I sense that Luke's recent transformation into the player I liked in high school will also get him a blind loyalty ticket. Maybe the two will cancel each other out. Man, am I glad Luke's finally gotten the minutes to show what he can do. He's not just some effort guy, he's a complimentary scorer in the making. If Lisch can be a primary scorer next year we might not totally suck.
  17. Our guys were aggressive from jump and we couldn't get to the line to save our lives. The refs protect the upper echelon of Conference USA from embarrasing losses to lower-rung teams. Its been that way in this wannabe elite conference for years.
  18. "i wonder why polk disappeared. i thought he was playing fine. i know the other guards were playing fine as well, but why not rotate them in and out?" We've been complaining about Brad substituting just for the sake of substituting so I've got no problem with Polk leaving the game at the 12 minute mark and not coming back. Normally he would have come in the game at the last timeout and finished out the game but the kids were already making a run. And those same kids + Darren Clarke sent the game to overtime. Curtis Withers and the refs just weren't going to allow us to win this game.
  19. They knocked off Niagara (who is number 1 in one of the Internet polls) 69-66. Bobby Hill led Vashon with 18 points.
  20. You'll never got this type of insider reporting at Rivals or Insiders. Screw 'em.
  21. After being slapped around by Memphis, they are struggling today against South Florida.
  22. I read in the Journal Sentinel that Polka has an offer from UW-Milwaukee already. Stockily built junior.
  23. "Otherwise why would anyone practice hard?" To get into the rotation. But your best players should start, if you're interested in winning. If Brad was the coach and you believe that players earn their position in practice, Allen Iverson would never start.
  24. Here's how we determine who's closer to the truth. If Luke's offense goes south in the next game then Danny should still see limited minutes, right?
  25. "Why would some of you think that AD drops out given he is playing this year" Wishful thinking. Just like the dream of bringing in an impact player at the four when Brad has limited himself to high school players. But I understand why some people choose to dream -- it gives us hope.
