  1. I agree, what did we expect at the beginning of the year with all freshmen and sophomores? Watch games on TV. Few teams start more than one or two freshmen and sophomores and most teams are led by experienced juniors and seniors. Be patient. I look at it this way......despite the Richmond debacle, this team has improved in leaps and bounds and has exceeded my realistic expectations. I can't wait for the next two years and beyond. I hope these issues with Majerus and the travel and radio do not get us sidetracked. I think we are headed in a very desirable direction after years of nothing much. I am looking on the bright side and think it is justified.
  2. I assume that Anne Kordis got a contract after proving that she is a big time winner and that someone would gladly hire her away given the opportunity. The AD locked her in with a contract which is smart. You could argue that she is the most successful coach at SLU. I have not heard anyone say that SLU is unwilling to extend a contract to the men's soccer coach--only that up to now that has not been the case. Let this thing play out. There is a good chance that we will end up being better off in the end. That has been the case with recent hires--a step up.
  3. I agree that for the most part Tom does a very good job; I especially appreciate the blog which gives a lot of little news and tidbits. I remember when the Post Dispatch was among the best papers in the country. Big city daily papers are in big trouble. I used to get the Post every day of my life or I didn't think things were right with the world. Now, I almost never buy a Post. I am sure the resources are stretched at the paper so sometimes Tom has assignments other than things Billiken that do not make it possible to cover every little thing. But I appreciate his work and get it all online.
  4. Why Dayton kept tossing up 3's when they weren't hitting them and not going to the hoop is a mystery to me. I wonder about Gregory's x and o's.
  5. Yes I do. And about Cuonzo who by all impressions is a very quality person. He has done a good job at MSU.
  6. This would have been a better message if you had left out the second sentence.
  7. Rick really looks like he has lost weight, but sharing his donuts??????with Smith? Heart- healty diet? The big guy needs to take care of his health. Things are looking good, let's keep it going.
  8. Of course I could be wrong, but I doubt very seriously that Majerus will coach anywhere other than SLU. The guy is 61, obviously not in the greatest health, has been here a little over 2 years, has made serious progress toward building a very good team and seems to like the school and the city. I can't imagine that he would relish the idea of starting all over at a place like DePaul and all that would need to change there to even approach the potential he has at Saint Louis. He also seems to really like his players. Unless he is totally ticked about some recent issue I just can't see it. Billikan, what is your take. You are an insider.
  9. His title is probably assistant athletic director for development of something like that. He replaced a person who was not as good at having donors like him.
  10. Playing nice with the donors. Development. Raising money. He will do a good job because people will like him and he will not offend people.
  11. Tom was just interviewed at halftime and did an outstanding job. He really represented SLU well. He is an excellent hire. He is a really nice guy who has excellent experience and he comes off as very sincere. He wants to make the fans feel appreciated. He has gone out of his way to be helpful and responsive to me and I really appreciate it. Give Chris May credit for a good move (this is not his only one).
  12. Willie has the answer. When we were in school we would occasionally cut class for some important event or activity.
  13. I really thought we could win this game. Our coach was certainly better than their coach. At times we look really good and at other times we look like a bunch of freshmen and sophomores. I really like the way we are improving.
  14. There is no one on my ignore list. There are some pretty outrageous posters from time to time but if you think of them as children at play on their opponents message board they become somewhat entertaining or some degree of pathetic. As in the case of a reent reappearance of a really dumb-ss poster. Sign Guy and the moderators do a pretty good job of detecting impostors and newly created monikers of previously banned posters. They seem so simple in a way; as if no one can tell who it is.
  15. Great show of love for Grawer. Rich really deserves a great deal of credit for keeping Billiken basketball alive. Too bad there were hard feelings when he was let go. I hope he felt good about being back with us tonight. Guy Phillips is indeed an embarassment. Why is this allowed to continue? He doesn't even know the players names and I am so tired of hearing "correction"........It is a joke and everyone seems to know it accept the people who can do something about it.
  16. 05, I think I saw the girl in the yellow shirt with the stubby fingers on the people of wal mart. She may just be a model I have seen somewhere.
  17. Trust me, redbirdfan knows him. Like few, if any, on this board do.
  18. When he was introduced last night I believe they said he was majoring in accounting. I also think that is a change from previously---maybe communications before?
  19. Don't underestimate Missouri State. They are playing well. We need to play well to beat them even at home.
  20. I am so impressed with this young man and his dramatic improvement in just one full season and eight games into this one. His commitment to improve his game and the coaching he is getting are really paying dividends. I just watched the post-game videos on BillikenReport from the SIU game and Willie comes across exceptionally well. He is intelligent, well-spoken and really makes a wonderful impression for SLU. He appears to be a true Billiken student-athlete. Just imagine how good he could be his junior and senior years. And how good our team could be.
  21. Great "We want Rob Loe" chants and signs from the Blue Crew. Well done!
  22. Subscribers to BillikenReport know who the young man is. He would be a nice one to get. Others think so too.
  23. That these kids are just a few games beyond their freshmen year and are showing this kind of results is amazing. This weekend showed me a lot about our front line even though CE is still in limbo. The first road trip of the year against good competion will be a good learning experience for the Billikids. Rickma has definitely upgraded the talent level. This year may be better than expected but if not I think next year will be a very good year. Go Bills.
