  1. Tip off club meeting I'm sentenced to work late in freaking Chesterfield?? Roy, Thicks, and all who attend, I'll be looking forward to your reports.....again.
  2. than some of the other cupcakes on our schedule this year like we did a few years back but only as a "buy" game. That is where you are at the moment. Get the RPI above a hundred then come back to eat at the table otherwise serve and don't speak. W'ell let you in our house once per year for your little show.
  3. I think we have more worries trying to recruit big time athletes to play at SLU if we are in the Valley, than we do by inviting East Coast teams into the St. Louis Market. Guess what??? St. Louis isn't the hoops producing mecca that Chicago is. In a power conference like CUSA or the A-10 St. Louis U will at least be on the radar screen for top St. Louis prospects. Is ILLState in the Valley a blip on the Chicago recruiting radar??? I honestly don't know but I think not. Interestingly our best player for the last few years was Marquee Perry from Chicago. How did we get him with all the big guns looking at Chicago??? Why wasn't he a redbird for that matter??? The Valley is like a relative who's let drink get the best of him. The past was amusing, the present somewhat sad and in the future you'd appreciate it if he'd just stop popping up on your doorstep. Also you know he'd love to have you over to clean up his image but you just can't stand all the fleas.
  4. A pox on the ref's and on Chia Pet Stokes. Then again Wes already got his pox, being dumped for a serial strangler. I stand corrected. A pox on the refs.
  5. Their pain is our gain. I want to see Quin ridden out on a rail minus a long slab of skin off his back from all the whipping! The funny thing???? You want to know the funny thing??? I was actually starting to respect Q a bit when he first got here. I was taken in by Quin's charm and worried that, without Classless Norm, I'd have no reason to hate the Tigers other than their idiotic fans. Thanks to Quinnyboy though, I can hate the entire program and the world is again spinning in greased grooves. (Go Marlins and Yanks. A Cubs/Red Sox Series is the seventh seal)
  6. Cool, now we can make fun of Shaw and get Terry Evans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. for the hope of a juco who qualifies??? I wouldn't.
  8. You deserve them. They deserve better.
  9. What if a young Col Sanders played football for Ole Miss???? Those are the worst mascots I've ever seen! What does the current mascot look like anyway?
  10. I agree to a certain extent but I don't see turning down a healthy Evans for a stiff to be named later. Then again, all things considered, there are more than a few good reasons I'm not coaching the Billikens. Brad we must trust in thee! Lead us to the promised land!
  11. I'd love to see a quality Banging brute in the fold but after several years with very few scoring options and big nonproductive (offensively anyway) frontcourt players, the luxury of another terrific scorer seems better than a vertically limited banger. Again if Terry is healthy and Shaw isn't comming I'll take Terry.
  12. Admittedly taken way out of context!!!!!! I love you man, though we disagree.
  13. I'm still wondering why the Golden Eagles had to stop being warriors. My God!!!!!!! Oh no, I just mentioned the supreme being! In a minute I'll be saying the pledge of allegiance!!!!! LIGHTEN THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Ian doesn't like it I'll desist. If you don't, tough. GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as long as they aren't playing us)
  14. I'm not saying we don't need a power forward. I am saying that I'd rather have a great scorer than a mediocre, short, power forward. Apparently you can have too many athletic wings ala UNC. Fine. If Shaw doesn't want to come here what then? I say take the best player available and hope to hell that JJ is the real deal. By the way, having another scorer may not help us against a Big Ten team loaded with bruisers but won't be meeting the Illini until the dance anyway. Evans and Liddell alone should get us past the Gramblings of the world.
  15. Short power forward. I'll take Evans or Polk. I trust Brad a long way these days.
  16. Can you have too many athletic scoring wings? If Shaw is heading to SIU and If Evans is projected to be healthy I say take Evans and count this as a hell of a recruiting class! For a team that had the best 6'3" CENTER ever in Donnie Dobbs just a few years ago we sure are spoiled on height these days. I think we can take Terry and still find room on the squad for Mr Litch. More importantly, I don't think you pass on Evans to possibly get a player in the future. Now if Evans is a Floyd Mcclainsian all betts are off. I say to the devil with Shaw if he wants to be our ***** :-) (Saluki of course) once every other year when we slap SIU.
  17. 34, SEMO grad (don't ask) BA History, college hoops fan, Insurance agent for 10 years. Rabid Billiken fan since my brother and dad (both SLU grads) convinced me that football wasn't the only winter sport--Spoons first year here. Dallas Cowboy fan.
  18. It's a great quote. I'll wait until I get thicks response to the "Zorba" thread and perhaps incorporate that into my signature as well.
  19. Nate I've never said it but thanks for the insight into the Post Dispatch. I'm certainly one to go off half-cocked and blame the paper for slight's real and imagined. I got thrown out of Bernie's Press Box for calling the paper the post disgrace there when Josh fisher was signed with no mention by the Post. Having said all that I think we'd all like the indepth inch thick sports page we had during the brief time when the Post was driving the St. Louis Sun out of business
  20. Yep. My first impression was loud wrong. I'll admit it. I'm pretty impressed with Brad as well at this point. I almost wish we could skip this year and see Polk and Liddell right now.
  21. It's been years since I've seen "Zorba the Greek" but I don't seen to recall him being an ax murderer. If Ian finds it offensive, that's one thing. If a few goofs on a message board find it offensive that's quite another. I don't recall who it was that said this is racist but who ever did say that I'd have to call a total goof. The last time I check their is no Greek race. If celebrating the ethnic heritage of a player is a problem then we are all in trouble. Did anyone object to celebrating AD's Albanian background last year? I seem to recall calling him the Albanian Agressor. Hey Thicks, Did you clear "Capitol D" with mister Clark? Btw Zorba is alot easier to type than Hippocrates.
  22. I'm a good St. Louis lapsed Catholic aged 32 who eventually grew up and out of both soccer and the church. I played soccer in my youth and then moved on to football and baseball. I'll never understand the love of soccer. Like most Americans it bores me to tears. Get over it. Harkening back to St. Louis soccer in the 50's is like the people who talk about the 1904 worlds fair. Great. What has that done for us lately other than give Danforth's group a name. Onward and Upward!
