  1. Billikan your post sounds like a Coke commercial.
  2. This is not any different then being told by your company that you will make a contribution to the United Way. While it may be a pain it is a fact of life at some companies .
  3. Your memory is good. I believe he was 19 or 20.
  4. Joe I'm just repeating what I was told by someone who is very involved with Mid-America transplants.
  5. I was just told that Larry Hughes brother Justin passed away last night. His new heart essentially gave out. A heart transplant is good for about 10 years max. He got his 9 years ago.
  6. I watched the travel team play a few years ago in a tourney at Wash. U. Romar - Dollar - Highmark and Troy were all on the team. For an old man Romar could still play the game.
  7. I wish we would stop recruiting Juco's. I know we are recruiting a need but our luck has been terrible. Off the top of my head I can't think of any Juco who has a difference besides Love and Jeffers. It's just not worth the effort that is put it. Freshmen only.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but Justin Love is going to be married in the college church in 2 weeks.{Maybe it was 2 months}He is marrying a former Billiken Dance Team member. Father Biondi I believe will do the ceremony.
  9. We will sign somebody. Hopefully Knollmeyer will sign today. But my point, and Brad's last night is that even if we don't, we still have enough to get to the tournament.
  10. I understand your frustration at the current recruiting but the future is very bright. Brad went out of his way last night to say he expects to be in the tourney even if we get no new recruits. We return 7 out of the top 8 scores and 87% of our rebounding. We will get Obi a kid who had a very good high school resume. Kevin and Tommie will have one year and increased confidence. Brad promises we will push the ball with Polk. Sorry but I'm planning on making a trip in mid march to watch the Bills play in the NCAA's
  11. Ditty that was a great post. Lets just hope this young man sees the big picture and not the bright lights. I would hope that Brad laid out the picture you just painted.
  12. While I agree it's not a 9 to 5 job I don't think it's quite the ordeal your making it out to be. There are many dead periods during the year when there can't be contact. Summers are pretty easy except for July when you can evaluate. If the job were so hard why do so many people want it?
  13. I think you are probably overstating Bonners recent earnings. Playing in Europe or Puerto Rico pays well but not exactly NBA numbers. His NBA days were a long time ago. Things like expensive cars and a divorce can eat up a few million dollars. Anthony could probably use a decent paying job and I'm sure would put the same work ethic into it that he did to his on court playing.
  14. Maneut Bol is looking for a job. Maybe we can hire him.
  15. Harry Stantons name was Tom Stanton. Tom died a couple of years ago well into his 90's.
  16. Jimmy is retired and living in St. Louis. He attends a lot of games. I believe that Billy Morris also played at Beaumont. Morris had 2 unspectacular years after transferring back from Ill.
  17. I find this interesting if it becomes true. Indiana the school of Miles Brand is suppose to place of higher learning . Sampson has one of the worst if not the worst graduation rates in college basketball. Doesn't seem like a good fit to me.
  18. Actually Box you have a very long shot at second place. If George Mason beats LSU in the final 4 people tie for second.
  19. Don't feel sorry for Romar it's his fault they didn't win. When are these coaches going to learn that when your up by 3 pts.and the time is under 5 seconds you foul. I don't think anyone on this board can tell me of a game this year where a coach fouled and the other team won a game or forced overtime by making a freethrow and putting in the missed second shot. It just hasn't happened. On the other hand I bet I've seen teams force overtime at least 30 times during the year by making the 3 point shot. IMO a coach who doesn't foul deserves to lose.
  20. ESPN is saying he took the job. I think this makes perfect sense . It's about the highest profile job I think he could have gotten. Win at K-State,keep your nose clean for a few years and he can write his ticket for his next job. Besides how many job offers did he have?
  21. I agree Brad is here for the long run.............As long as he wins.
  22. Guess I'm wrong but for some reason I thought he was Pentecostal or something like that. And Yes it means nothing.
  23. I don't think Brad is Catholic. He is a Christian more to the conservative side then the Catholic Faith.
