Oklahoma State hosted the Men and Women’s NCAA Championships last season.

It has been a few years since my kids played junior tennis, but at that time, OU, OSU, and Tulsa all had great facilities. Tulsa has hosted the NCAAs several times also. For a school their size, they have very nice facilities with 6 indoor and 12 outdoor courts.

They do. All 3. A minimum of 6 indoor and 12 outdoor are required by the NCAA. That’s why you see that number often, so they can host. I know of a higher profile tennis school that’s just under that, but is expanding, so they can host NCAA events.

One thing you may see soon is a combination of those Oklahoma schools hosting events especially the NCAA Indoors. There is a new thing where 2 schools within 200 miles of each other, host the NCAA Indoors. Reduces costs, and the indoors host requires 12 indoor courts. They can split the 16 teams into two sites of 8 each. This year for example, Illinois and Northwestern are the Women’s final 16 hosts. SMU and Baylor are the Men’s final 16 hosts. 56 teams, 14 sites (OK State was a Women’s site host in the early rounds) Four teams advance to the designated primary host site while the others stay behind to finish out play. Host schools receive auto entry into the event.

The USTA National Campus in Orlando agreed to added 6 more indoor courts to make it 12. They also needed to add scoreboards to all courts, provide more seating, etc…some other upgrades in order to be a long term host for the Men’s Women’s team National Championships. But there are several other events to be hosted as well.

The Oklahoma Women’s Tennis team has a realistic but not easy chance at making the Final Four this year. They had a big season and they took 4th in the SEC. Oklahoma State and Tulsa also made it and play each other first round. As the NCAA prefers to base early round matchups regionally, all 3 are in the same section. Oklahoma also made it on the Men’s side.

Baylor hosts the team Championships this year. Georgia hosts the next 2 years. Orlando will host beginning in 2028 after their renovations.

In order to host bigger NCAA events, a school needs a minimum of 12 outdoor and 6 indoor courts. Baylor is hosting the team finals for Women's and Men again this year, this week:

When renovations are completed at the 100 plus court facility in Orlando, it will have 12 outdoor, 12 indoor and 20 additional practice courts available in one location. New seating for both indoor/outdoor as well as improved shade and scoring. They have a 10 year deal for team.

Wash U is still alive in the NCAA D3 Women’s Quarters. They hosted regionals at Dwight Davis. D3 Championships are in Claremont, CA.
