Taj79
Some interesting names (and pay, if you can get it): Boston lists Jordan Crawford (Xavier) at $2.2 million. Boston also has Phil Pressy (Mizzou) at $490K. The Knicks list Kenyon Martin (Cincinnati) at $890K. Lavoy Allen (Temple) on the Sixers for $3.1 million. Mike James ( a 38-year-old point guard from Duquesne????) on the Bulls for the $890K same as Kenyon. Josh Harrelson (St. Charles/SWIC/Kentucky) on the Pistons for the $890K (is that some sort of veteran minimum?). Rasual Butler (La Salle) on Indiana for $890K David West (Xavier) on Indiana for a cool $12 million, setting the high water mark for former A10 players. Larry Sanders (VCU) getting $3.1 million from Milwaukee. DeMarre Carroll (Mizzou - $2.6 mil) and Shelvin Mack (Butler - $890K) from Atlanta. Jason Maxiell (Cincy) pulling down $2.2 mil from Orlando along with Jameer Nelson (St. Joseph's) collecting $8.6 mil from same and Andrew Nicholson (Bonawelda U.) listed at $1.5 mil from Orlando as well. Bradley Beal (St. Lous/Florida) at $4.3 million from the Wiz. David Lee (St. Louis/Florida) at $13.9 million from Golden State (beats West but not an A10er). Dionte Christmas (Temple) getting $490k from the Lakers. Ben McLemore (St. Louis/Kansas) getting $2.9 million from Sacramento. Brian Roberts (Dayton) getting $790K from New Orleans. Andre Miller (Utah/Majerus) still pulling down $5 million per year at age 37 with Denver. Gordon Heyward (Butler) getting $3.5 million from Utah. To put it into some perspective, Kobe makes $30.5 million; LeBron and Bosh make the same $19.1 million; Dwayne Wade makes $18.7 million; and Dwight Howard makes $20.5 million. I saw where Chris Wright (Dayton) the "highest Flyer in dayton's history" was listed on my roster version as being on Toronto but then saw where he joined Willie on the unemployemnt/cut lines on or about October 26th. Khalid Wyatt was one of the last four cuts by the Sixers this past week. Didn't see any other A10 players of any note floating around out there. Pistol
Taj, thought about posting this yesterday, which is semi-related to your list above: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/look-2012-13-college-players-made-opening-day-003357368--ncaab.html -Pressey is on the list of undrafted players who made rosters. -CJ Aiken is on the list of players who left early and missed rosters, as is BJ Young. Some other interesting names in there, as well. Yes, I believe $890,000 is this year's minimum for players who have played at least 2 seasons. Still, maybe someone can help me understand why that applies to longer-term veterans like James and Martin. http://www.hoopsworld.com/nba-minimum-salaries

thetorch
The NBA has a sliding wage scale for veterans minimum contracts, the more years you have in the league the more you get paid. The teams themselves are only responsible for paying each player signed to a minimum contract to what a 2nd year player gets paid. The difference in the players remaining salary is paid by the league. For example - Kenyon Martin as a 10 year plus veteran is playing for the Knicks at the minimum salary. His salary will be under the collective bargaining agreement about 1.4 million. The Knicks are only responsible, financially and salary cap wise, for 890,000 the 2 year veterans minimum, the league pays the difference. This evens the playing field and allows teams to not push out veteran players just because they are obligated to make more. This lets NBA teams sign the best possible players to their roster instead of only younger players who make less money to fit under their salary cap. thetorch
Interesting list of A-10 alumni. Lavoy Allen has probably reached his peak, same with Nicholson. Their teams are dreadful. Boston will be too, Crawford may have a chance to start there at some point during the season. Gordon Heyward may make the biggest jump this year. Look for him to lead the Jazz in scoring. Andre Miller could play into his 50s. I can't believe DeMarre Carroll is still in the league. He's going to get alot of minutes for Atlanta this season. He's somehow found his niche as energy defense first bench guy without much athleticism, scoring ability, or real position on the floor. willie
SI has Carroll in their starting five.
thetorch
SI has Carroll in their starting five. Just read it their preview. Carroll may start, but he is best off the bench because he can fill in at so many positions. Korver will probably start or play most of the minutes at the 3. almaman
This thread more interesting than what I've watched first couple nights. Guess college ball will give a lift to couch potato missing baseball already.
