He picked us to beat Memphis and has promoted the A10 all season. He calls the A10 one of the "major" basketball conferences (meaning the A10 is in the same class with all the BCS leagues for basketball). Yeah, I also got the feeling Gottlieb was making picks for shock value during the Selection Sunday Show. It could be that the ESPN producers are moving him in this direction. Gottlieb had harsh words for North Carolina's chances of getting out of the regional in St. Louis without Kendall Marshall, and this became news in itself with the NC players reacting to what Gottlieb had to say.
