  1. Supposedly that is already occurring. They claim fans who are kicked out are shown on the jumbotron when it occurs. This has been a longstanding issue for Mexico, and their soccer federation is finally taking it seriously.
  2. The protocol stems from FIFA's three-step protocol, which actually calls for the responsible fan base/team to forfeit the match if it is abandoned. Steps 1 and 2 can also be repeated, so escalation to step 3 isn't automatic. Last night, the announcer mentioned the game would be resumed the next day if abandoned. I am not sure how accurate that was, if at all.
  3. Yes. Fortunate score at half. Tactical disaster so far. The D has looked worse than it did on paper. We saw some individual quality from Pulisic and Reyna...need more of that, and more wins in the midfield, to win this one.
  4. Well stated regarding Musah and Sargent. Musah needs to play for us to achieve our short-term and long-term potential. As an aside, his story is really interesting. Here is an article from The Athletic (paywall) for those interested: https://theathletic.com/2631137/2021/06/03/yunus-musah-usmnt-valencia-arsenal/ I wonder about the long-term viability of Sargent as the national team's starting striker. He is an interesting case where his value could sky-rocket if he starts finding the back of the net. Until then, he is a #9 without consistent goal scoring. Not a good recipe for success at any level. With the busy international schedule over the next year, it might make sense to have an OT thread for U.S. soccer.
  5. Jon Scheyer was named the coach-in-waiting, and will become head coach upon K's retirement. @billiken_royis likely right, as it was reported Duke already explored external candidates, but landed on Scheyer.
  6. The SLU cycling team sells them, but it looks like they wrapped up the order period in the fall. You may be able to get one if you reach out. https://m.facebook.com/slucycling/?__tn__=C-R
  7. He was granted a waiver a few games into what would have been his year sitting. https://goldengrizzlies.com/news/2020/1/16/mens-basketball-rashad-williams-eligible-to-compete
  8. Yep. It is a good example why fans should avoid speculation. Having a kid at any age is hard, but I hope being closer to his support system (and TEAM BLUE!) will make it easier for Jordan and the baby’s mother.
  9. Not a lot to translate. It appears Jordan had a baby and shared the news with Penny.
  10. Switching is exactly what @AnkielBreakersmeans
  11. They may be good but Kobe Elvis is a meh recruit
  12. The transfer portal never “closes”, but players must enter by July 1st in order to qualify for the one-time transfer exemption for 2021-2022.
  13. Fred Vinson. He also helped Brandon Ingram make a similar jump in 3pt% and FT%.
  14. He shot 30.5% as a rookie and 32.9% in year 2
  15. Yes, and that’s the more telling part. Making uncontested shots in an open gym is expected. On a related note, how do you instruct players who get set with one foot in front of the other? I have always been curious whether coaches care about that or whether they are more concerned with the stroke.
  16. I was always surprised we never got in on Freeman when he was in high school. There were rumblings of character issues when he left Missouri State, but later on it was reported Missouri State was open to him returning so who knows.
  17. Yeah, Cook is almost a year older than Goodwin and not nearly as good.
  18. I agree with much of your sentiment as it pertains to the college game. However, it makes more sense to view the pros vs. college dynamics separately, as sports marketing with pro athletes is undeniably successful. You ask how many kids bought shoes to be like Mike. Millions, literally. Jordan single-handedly transformed Nike from a second-rate brand to the leader in sports apparel. The Jordan brand brings in revenue over $3 billion per year. Nike hasn't paid Jordan over $1 billion for nothing. I view the college NIL issue as an opportunity for boosters to help steer (or keep) players to their favorite team. There is demand in this space, albeit for different reasons than increasing revenue for a business. The rich may get richer, but non-powers with deep-pocketed boosters could also benefit from the change. https://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2020/05/03/michael-jordans-1-billion-nike-endorsement-is-the-biggest-bargain-in-sports/?sh=3c63f0066136
  19. That’s not what I’ve been told by people who have first hand knowledge
  20. Ask the people doing it already without a legal avenue to do so
  21. So he was 16 when he arrived at SLU? That’s wild
  22. It starts with the 2021-2022 academic year. The NCAA already granted a transfer waiver for this offseason and granted another year of eligibility for individuals who played during the 2020-2021 academic year.
  23. The net effect is all players will be allowed a one-time transfer without sitting, regardless of when they use it. In other words, a player who transfers without sitting as a Sophomore won't be able to transfer again without sitting as a grad transfer (unless they obtain a waiver).
  24. I don’t disagree, but I’m not sure Cook deserves to be labeled as someone who can hit the open three. His career shooting numbers are underwhelming.
