  1. Here is your 5th year transfer post player, Mockevicius 6'10" center from Evansville. He will graduate this spring with one year eligibility left. Crews' old school, Chaney's home town......get 'em guys. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/players/playerpage/2026171/egidijus-mockevicius
  2. This will be a nice plug for the SLU program. Indy is a targeted recruiting ground for the staff, so perhaps Indy HS hoopsters will take note. The game is on CBS, and there will be more eyeballs on this game than any single SLU game this year.
  3. I thought this was a thread on Porter Moser. Is Platt taking over for Porter? Damn!
  4. This is a neat update from the SLU Athletic Department on Billiken soccer players in the pros. http://www.slubillikens.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27200&ATCLID=209983794
  5. From his previous comments, the only college job Stevens would consider (now) is IU.
  6. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/23/south-florida-losing-two-to-transfer-anthony-collins-dre-clayton/ Here's your 5th year PG for those pining for such a player.
  7. And our record against coaches that didn't get fired is 9-17. Not sure that either is significant.
  8. UVA was a #2 seed. Both #1 and #2 hit the skids, leaving #3 Okie, #7 MI State, #8 NC State, and TBD #4 L'ville or #5 UNI left standing.
  9. Five, 5th year transfers typically aren't good enough to play pro, even in Europe. They are not program changers. I'll take Glaze over a one and done 5th year transfer. A graduate transfer eligible for 2 years might be a different story. (I don't agree with your point 4 on bringing baggage. He may or he may not. Some are good kids just looking to extend their basketball career. Very few, if any, are truly interested in a master's degree.)
  10. Tanner had a two year total of 17 assists, and he is the 'best feeder' on the team? Did you call Coach Crews and tell him to figure it out like you did? Tanner's 18 career TO's pretty well canceled out his assists.
  11. Ian Vouyoukas averaged 2.2 ppg his freshman year with 1.7 rpg. He turned out pretty good. Will Jolly be as good as Ian? Let's find out in the next three years.
  12. And McBroom leaves as the all time 9th best three point shooter at 38.9%, 0.4% ahead of Troy Robertson. Austin also had the 6th best season three point % (50 attempts) with 42.9%. For some reason, SLU does not tabulate class 3 point shooting efficiency lists. With 11 more successful FT, McBroom would have been top 10 career FT %.
  13. All five teams from Indiana in the MW bracket. Do you think the NCAA wants a local school (or KY) to make it to Lucas Oil?
  14. Where to start with the grammatical errors............
  15. Oliver Purnell is available. Let's grab him! He coached in the Big East AND the ACC. Man, recruits would be standing in line to get into SLU.
  16. Here are the rest of the records: Career Records McBroom finishes as the 9th most efficient three point shooter at 38.9% bumping Troy Robertson down to 10th (38.5%) McBroom needed 11 more successful FT to crack the top 10 career list. His current 84.8% would be third if he kept that pace. Manning finishes his career 14th in blocks, sandwiched between Bonner and Heinrich Season Records McBroom had the 6th best three point shooting efficiency for any season 0.002 ahead of Waldman. Class Records Junior McBroom finished tied for 11th with Cassity for # of three pointers SLU doesn't track individual class 3 PT %, or McBroom would be in the top 10 Sophomore Crawford finished 6th best FT%, bumping Roland Gray down to 7th I have been tracking total team stats since 1990-1991. This team did not set any highs or lows in any team category.
  17. Sure we all acknowledge a true point guard would have made this team better. I know you used Shamburger only as an example. But Sham? Not sure he would have added much to the victory total. He guided the Tigers to a 9-23 season. You add his 9 points and 4 assists, he played 34 min per game, and then take away Bartley/Reynolds 9 ppg and 3 apg combined totals, do we win enough to get out of the A-10 cellar? Who knows. (Give me H Waldman.) Here is my question. Which would have been better, now that we are done with the year, Bringing in a Shamburger, or letting the freshmen get experience. Chances are both situations end up with an early spring break.
  18. What I am saying is transfers and JUCOs are a slippery slope. As I mentioned, it worked somewhat okay for Haith but ended up trashing the program. Who was the last highly successful transfer to come to SLU? Yacoubou, McBroom or Barnett? No, no and no....well maybe Ash will give us a stellar senior year. It was over 10 years ago when Reggie Bryant was here. He was a great addition. JUCO's...Eberhadt? Newborne? It has been a long time since Justin Love graced our uniforms. Everyone knows the challenge of getting a JUCO into SLU. 5th year transfers are a new phenomena, but these are guys who aren't typically good enough to play pro ball, even overseas. How many of them are truly interested in getting a Master's Degree? Maybe they can be a complimentary piece but certainly not a foundation for change. Yes there are a lot more transfers available today then there have been in the past due to the changing attitude of players. But to count on transfers or JUCO's to resurrect our program, and to not let it end up like Misery, well it's not that easy of a task.
  19. The stats are what they are. No denying the numbers. But in his last 10 games Agbeko averaged 5.5 boards per game and as you said 7.4 over his last 5 games. Certainly he is a building block for the future. His boards per 40 minutes for the year (10.0) exceeded Ash (7.2) and Milik (8.0). This team averaged 12.2 assists per game. Worse was the 1996-97 team (Harris' senior year) at 11.6 apg, 2008-2009 (Liddell and Lisch senior year) at 11.8 apg, 2005-2006 (Drejaj's senior year ) at 12.1 apg, and tied with our 1999-2000 NCAA team, as well as 2002-2003 (Sodie's first year).
  20. Ah yes the tried and true Frank Haith model for a successful program.
  21. We have some building blocks for the future. This board will go crazy speculating on transfers but what happens will happen. The freshmen played a whole lot more minutes this year then they probably expected. Did they get tired and 'hit the wall'? Likely, but they will go into next season with a much sharper idea of what a college season requires. Hit the gym, hit the track, hit the cardio machines....be in shape for next season.
  22. I'm pretty sure I could block Yarbrough.
