  1. $1.125 million just doesn't buy you as much as it used to. M. Porter Sr "coaching abilities" were vastly overpriced for the net return.
  2. If he didn't go to Marquette, he isn't worth looking at. (ref to TGloryTDays passion for Marquette rejects)
  3. Are you referencing the NE snowstorm in your Christmas title?
  4. What I like about this video is that it shows jump shots and not uncontested dunks.
  5. Hard to find, but here are some game stats from Ware. You have to go game to game. But the last three entries, he went for 32, 45, and 33. http://scoreboard.kentucky.com/kybbk17/51937
  6. Last Coach's Show of the Year, March 5 Van Macon there tonight. No word on where Ford was, but Rammer alluded to recruiting. Rammer - Lot's of nagging injuries, but nothing specifically discussed. It's that time of the year. Every team is tired and beat up. Coach Macon - Senior Night Game v St. Bonnie. Offense was stale early and we were settling too much for jump shots. Teams are now game planning for French, and he isn't used to it. He is frustrated, but will figure it out. French got engaged in the second half and stopped worrying about touches, etc, and played much better. French always smiling, even tempered off the floor. Sometimes he is too nice on the floor. He is a very good passer, and learning how to pass out of the double. French hasn't seen double/triple teams like this before. Duquesne took away his first pass option with a third defender, causing French to have to figure out passing option #2 quickly. Macon on Johnson - bothered about not playing well v St. Bonnie. But has a short memory and kept firing up the shots. "He is never, not confident about taking a shot." Macon on the team - edge hasn't been as sharp the past five or six games, even the games we won. Haven't found that extra gear that there used to be. Asked by Rammer, did the boast from the resolution of the situation - the cloud was lifted - wear off? Guys had fed off each other but that edge has been missing. Macon played golf and hoops in high school (interesting combo.) HS BBall lost 6 games in three years. Golf team wasn't very good. Got started coaching at AAU camps in the summer. First coached at Adelphi College. One thing he tries to sell a recruit on is playing for Coach Ford, who has players in the NBA. Commitments are not for four years, they are for forty years. Relationships are developed that last a lifetime. Macon - senior night was special with Aaron and Davell, whom Mcaon has known for only two years. It has been special being part of their lives and watching them grow. The whole team walked out onto the floor with Rashed. Macon had never seen that. Special. Hines has gotten tremendously better. Works hard, is reliable. Davell has been a huge part of the building of the team. He is the sounding board for the staff regarding the team. Talked about balancing Senior Night and the Game that evening. Senior Night can take over the evening - happened with Rhode Island this year....too much emotion and energy gone before the game started for Rhody. (Macon knows an Assistant there and talked to him about their game.) Ford is the first coach Macon has seen doing the senior session after the game. But Macon likes it better, last item on the night. Only down side is keeping the fans in the building. Rammer played Ford's Senior Talk again. That was special then and great to hear it a second time. Macon - Team Blue motto was great. Team texts each other about it and is always talking about Team Blue. Rebound chain is a big deal, and they fight for it. "The get pissed." Michael Wilson - Film Coordinator - will spend 40 or 50 hours on film between now and game time in DC. He explained to Rammer how the Bills ended up 6th. (Double win against Richmond was our key.) Due to the standings, it was hard to figure out which teams to prepare for before Saturday evening. Macon said he is not good with computers and Wilson keeps him organized. Mike has everything set for the coaches. Tate is scouting Fordham and Bailey has GW for our game. Macon is looking ahead at Davidson, even though Tate has Davidson when we win. Macon - preparing for the conference tourney is different than early season two game tourney. Have to keep the team focused on only one game. Riley Allen - Strength and Conditioning Coach. All of the S and C program is focused on March. Nothing major different this week than other weeks. Keeping volume down but weights high. Keep the intensity high but don't want muscle breakdown. Plan between games, 24 hours later, is hydration (they measure the players on this), 7 to 8 hours sleep, and food - get the calories....steer away from sugars. Get large pizza after games. They feed the players something that they won't get themselves, such as rice and fish. Pregame protein smoothies have been popular this year. Don't throw in any extra foo-foo stuff, (like they do at Smoothie King). Just throw in extra fruit and yogurt. Talked about the camps. Players will be there working stations. Coach Ford does demonstrations with the players in the mornings. That's a rap.
  7. As always Pistol, excellent recap. Here are a few others. Roby is 24th in Career Scoring, and could jump Ferry for 23rd. He is also 8th in Career 3's Attempted and 8th in 3's Made. He is 12th in Games Played, two short of the top 10. He is 13th in Career Minutes Played. Bess and Roby joined a somewhat exclusive club of 1000 minutes played in a season. Bess is 10th with 1115 and Roby 22nd, with exactly 1000 minutes for the season. Bess would need 4 more games to top Bonner's record of 1246 minutes. BTW, I have given Brian some information on the MPG Season list. I have Bess 5th right now with 35.97, between Burden's 36.0 and Liddell's 35.82. Claggett is (maybe) in there at 3rd with 36.18 mpg for '92-93.
  8. Player of the year has to be one of Adams, Aldridge or Terrell, right? I guess I'll go with Adams due to his 44 against us. Those three plus Johnson and Tillman make first team A10. Pipkins would be on there is UMass had a better finish. Matthews, Mobley and Livingston are also worthy. It will be hard not to pick Grady as top Rookie. The other four? Possibly Golden RHI, Russell URI, Williams DUQ, and I'll go with French. Rookie team is maybe a little harder than 1st team All conference. Crutcher, Funk, and Goodwin if he is considered due to his status, all could be there. COY, the popular choice is Hurley, but I'll go with Schmidt. Defender of the year - no idea, but VCU's Tillman will get votes. Chartouny, Gilyard, Verhoeven, Bess and Roby should also get votes. Here is the A10 Preseason list of picks. http://www.atlantic10.com/pdf9/5459739.pdf
  9. Absolutely a brilliant comment. MVC is 8th RPI rated conference. A10 is 11th. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/rpi-ranking/rpi-rating-by-conf https://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology/conference
  10. Milik did make first team All MVC.
  11. Watching the tape, I'm not sure if slowing down the tempo helped us. Sure, I know why Ford elected to slow the game down, but we were making St Bonnie play only 10 to 15 seconds of defense on each of our possessions. We'd walk the ball up, 8+ seconds to get it across the line, then dribble or hold the ball at the top of the key for another 4 to 5 seconds. We wouldn't get into our offense until 15 plus or minus seconds left. Typically after several passes, we'd revert to a one on one move by whomever had the ball. Too many possessions ended up with a not so great shot in the final 3 to 5 seconds. When we made our 11-0 run, Hines was pushing the tempo a little harder and we were getting some open looks. Who knows if we had pushed somewhat harder, longer, maybe the final outcome changes.
  12. It's crazy how the four way tie breaker worked out. Particularly interesting to see how VCU got 8th, even though they beat us. Go figure. SEEDS 5. George Mason (9-9)* 6. Saint Louis (9-9)** 7. Richmond (9-9)*** 8. VCU (9-9) * based on 3-2 record against other teams 9-9 ** based on 2-2 record against other teams 9-9 AND 2-0 record vs Richmond *** based on 3-3 record against other teams 9-9 (VCU is 2-3 against the others 9-9)
  13. Agree but I’m looking for minimum two wins in DC this season.
  14. Really not a bad line for us. Could have been worse. Those tiebreakers got to be interesting.
  15. Watched the tape when I got home. Highmark said that having the Senior Ceremony after the game is correct. His was before his last game and he said he, Claggs and H were all an emotional mess until half time.
  16. The four way tie apparently lands the Bills in 6th. This is from the A10 Forum TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Wednesday, March 7 at Capital One Arena Washington, DC Game 1: 12. La Salle (7-11) vs 13. 17. I didn't want to start a new thread but this is interesting. Gonzaga is in talks to jump to the Mountain West. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-gonzaga-mountain-west-sdsu-20180228-story.html
  18. Yes, but add that if St Joe is 10-8 also, we have the tiebreaker on the head to head.

  21. Repeating what has already been said, you don't win too many D1 games with 20 TO. Bess with 6 and Roby with 5 - your starting back court turns it over on 11 trips. Where is the DJ Foreman that we need? In the past 3 games he has scored 7 points on 3 of 7 shooting. We need the DJ from Richmond game (13 points). Is his back acting up again? Johnson and Hines go 8 of 11 from the Arc. Bess and Roby go 3 of 11. If Johnson and Hines had shot those 11 rather than Bess and Roby, is there a different outcome? FT's...63.6% last night, v our season average of 65.2%. It is what it is. Ford will put a huge emphasis on FT's during the off season.
  22. Came back for a 70-64 win. Great Job Lady Bills. Now it's on to Richmond to play #2 seed Duquesne on Friday.
