Looks from the box score like the refs called it pretty even. Yes the no call on JJ was wrong, but the refs get it wrong a lot. Witness Melvin getting a Blatent on a drive where he clearly didn't do it on purpose. You guys whine and moan about the refs after every single game. You need a better excuse. As Gopher said, VCU has had trouble scoring the ball, but is vastly improved in the HC game. Learning to beat the zone, but certainly not solved it entirely yet. (just don't try a 1-3-1 or things get ugly fast). VCU's pace, PPP and OPPP are clearly at the top of the league (see link, it's very good for filling your brakets too, BTW...you'll find the 10s 11s and 12s that likely will get upsets). GMU comes in 2nd and STL 3rd. The pace and OPPP are clearly the key to VCU. We lead the A10 overall in the combination of these metrics with arguably a much tougher conference schedule. These are very very telling statistics that give surprising results, considering the SOS in conference and OOC. You might be surprised to see that Tennesee looks like a really good match for Kentucky. KenPom shows some of the relativities, but these stats for top 30 teams are the most telling. Beating the zone requires a 30% 3 point game and players learning to get to the middle of the zone and work from there. The second part is the part that VCU is starting to get. We all know that when VCU shoots 35% 3's and over 40% from the field we win. We have several guys shooting 35% from out there and Treveon Graham is pretty much a lock for 15 and 8 a game playing 4 positions. Get really hot from 3 with 70 plus pace and the game is a blowout vs almost anyone in the country. For those of you who discount Louisville, look at their stats. They are crazy good. Just watching games and seeing results doesn't tell the whole story. I do hope that DE and JJ are healthy and happy if we get to face you. It wouldn't be the same game without them. I like the feel of seeing our team coming in on a roll and watching the HC O improving game by game. Here's the link for anyone interested. Check out the analysis by conference. The refs will let the teams play in the tourney just like they do in the Dance. Imagine you're playing Wisconsin in the dance and think about how the refs will call it. It will be no holds barred. You're guys off the bench are really not factors in the games. Yes, our guys will pound your guys (if you get there) and it will end up a W. Tired, yes. We can run in players like Brooks who is one of the best on-ball defenders I've seen as a F and he's the 9th off the bench. MO is a manster if you haven't been watching. He's getting more PT and impact every game. Our guys love to pound opponents. That's our game and this is the time of the year that everyone has to deal with it. Expecting a good one Sunday. First let's take of some business: BigMouthBilliken, you need to grow a set. Now to reply as respects having to face St Joes. You do match up well with them, but Langston Galloway is the equal of any player in the A10 and can take a game all by himself. Oh and BTW, Langston is their PG. He's as good as anyone a team will ever face as a G anywhere. He's not a take it to the hole guy? He can score from everywhere including a 27 footer if you give him a bit of room. As respects GW, on a neutral court VCU matches up very well with them and VCU is playing their best ball of the year. Fur???? Really??? UMASS is Chaz. VCU did quite well against them in a tough place to play. Neutral court again this weekend. Actually, it's not quite neutral. Based on how VCU travels and the Peppas, they should just paint our logo on the floor... I would not want LaSalle in a quarter-game. We don't want the Bonnies. Fur is toast anywhere but their home floor. The Bonnies are a tough deep team. Overall, either side of the bracket is tough as is the A10 overall. Few gimmes. Tough game most every night. I like our side a lot more though considering the depth of bench playing on the 2nd day against 2 teams that don't go real deep. This is a 3 day deal. That wears guys out. I'll take a 10 deep bench over anyone, even if it is a "gimmick."
