I think we are not good.

68 is not that low, Dayton scored 68 a game last season.  SLU scored 75 a game last season with more proven weapons, a more balanced attack, and some offensive rebounding.

This years team will have to score a lot in transition and/or shoot a ton of 3s to score a lot.  We have one player right now who can go 1 on 1 off the dribble.  No inside offensive presence at all.  We have a lot of shooters, but I expect most teams to take away the 3 from us.  We will settle into the usual Ford half court offense.  We don't have the personnel to do well in that.

I also think our lack of defense will result in more blow out games, which don't help push your scoring average up.

We do. It just might not be as successful. I trust sincere to get something off. Good or bad. And to be honest I think it could be good.

*SLU has always had an athletic fundraising strategy of asking a small group for big checks, They need to also think about asking a big group for small checks, IMO.

Just to be clear I'm not against this event. I hope it does well and people have a great time and it's a cool event. I just think it would be cool to do something similar to the open scrimmage and stuff that was done in the past and have players stuff for sale or other ways to raise money for NIL at something the more casual fan could go to. I would gladly spend 250 dollars or more on merch that supports the players.

Also it goes without saying that I am very appreciative of everyone working to raise the level of SLU men's basketball (And all other sports). Whether that's AD or BVF staff.

Yeah access and feeling like an insider is a reason people will pony up the money.  So good idea and maybe late notice but better than nothing.  Also team is undefeated right now so chill with the sub .500.

Agreed. Torch is getting to be a little much

Paying half of what I pay for season tickets to go to one practice, not sure I can do that.

Maybe make it cheaper to get in and sell things fans want.... A lot of these players have merchandise/deals. That's pretty similar to supporting returning players and opens it up to a wider audience.

What gets us in the Big East?

Winning 4 straight Valley or Horizon titles?

Finishing on average 4th in the A10 over the same timespan?

I'm taking the titles every time. The BE is too. Nothing else changes. They can't take our facilities, budget or market away from us.

The A10 has done nothing for us, equally we've done nothing for them. Time to cut our losses. We have a limited time frame. We need to be in a major conference NOW if we want to stay relevant. Staying in this A10 purgatory will lead us down the road to playing in the same conference as UMSL.

We aren't winning 4 straight horizon or mvc titles if we are finishing 4th in the a10 lol

this team charters everywhere they go i will be in chicago if you want to go take a day off call in sick this has nothing to with how much pull we have

Thanks for the helpful info. It's not about taking off it's about not wanting to be there on a Tuesday night. And I think Dayton getting weekend games both years kinda proves your thought process wrong. It may not have everything to do with it but it certainly has some impact.

  6. So can anybody tell me why we can't get a weekend game versus Loyola? Is it scheduling conflicts or something? Just doesn't make sense to me.

They had a weekend game at our place last year. Feel like we should get something. What was the point of them joining the conference and all this talk about being able to make trips to Chicago if they're going to play us on a Tuesday every year.

Duequesne, Davidson, George Mason, Dayton, la salle all get Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday games in Chicago. Last year George Mason, George Washington, and Dayton all got weekend games. Sounds like our little program just don't have enough pull. The STL Chicago rivalry is dead. When they first joined I thought for sure we'd be getting consistent weekend slots. If you can't tell this really bothers me. Have a lot of people in my circle who would like to go to a Loyola/bills game in Chicago. Maybe one day before I die.

why are we wasting any discussion on dan mac?

he's an average (at best) play by play guy who really hasnt shown any above and beyond devotion (think bob ramsey and earl) to the billikens.   he was easily replaced sufficiently and thus we dont need the baggage that would come with it.   let him straighten his life out and leave Saint Louis University out of his recovery.   he made his own bed.  imo "good riddance".

I disagree. He added a lot to the billiken broadcast. Personally, I think he made SLU games feel big time on tv. We had the Danny Mac announcing our games.  I rewatch most home games because I like seeing how the game went on TV verse being at the game. And without Danny I definitely think the production value fell off. To each their own but I would like to have him back at some point.

Also I get mls season pass for free cause season tickets but they have a great product and a great streaming platform.
