  1. Our bigs are just not very good. Forrester seems helpless right now. Fumbled his 5th pass under the basket, then didn’t get back on D.
  2. With the way, we struggle making bunnies around the rim, maybe we should practice that in the lay up line rather than dunking the ball all the time.
  3. I think we all understand that losses to higher ranked opponents hurt less than losses to lower ranked opponents. I think the question being floated is a bit different. My understanding of the question is this: If you are going to have three losses in the non-conference schedule, would you rather beat your best opponents and lose to weaker ones (therefore, have very good wins on the resume, but also bad losses) or would you rather lose to the best teams and beat all of the weaker ones (therefore, you have no good wins on your resume, but also no bad losses)? Which is better for the NET and for making the tournament?
  4. I think that's a very good question, and I don't know the answer.
  5. I am generally a Ford supporter, but I think this post is a valid criticism. I think that the failure of our bigs this season is the biggest reason for our downfalls, and Travis and the staff need to do a better job of handling the guys we have. I also think that any team of our caliber needs to go into every season with a minimum of 4 bigs. Ford should have made more of a priority of using that last scholarship to get a transfer big.
  6. Hargrove couldn’t even make an uncontested layup after a whistle and Iona no longer defending.
  7. A strong desire by the fans, athletic department, administration to have to muddle through a difficult coaching search and end up with a coach likely to return us to mediocrity.
  8. Why is Iona slowing it down on its offensive possessions? Doesn’t Pitino know that you push the pace know matter the circumstances when you have a lead?
  9. Never seen a team that struggles so much with shots inside of five feet.
  10. Forrester has almost zero basketball sense. Okoro not much better. The failure of our bigs is the biggest reason for our struggles this season.
  11. And our players executed it like a good NCAA Div 1 team is supposed to this time. We shouldn’t abandon proper strategy just because our guys have failed to execute at times.
  12. I thought that, especially in the first half, every one of TSU's screens were illegal. They were walking through them and sometimes extending their legs out.
  13. I think this board makes way to big of a deal about guys getting subbed out. Ford has discussed publicly and been very consistent about pulling our bigs if they get a foul early in the 1st half. Both Okoro and Forrester got fouls early on. This is why each were pulled and why Momo get time. It was not because Ford was yanking them from the game for a mistake. It's very simple - get a quick foul and you sit so that we don't have to worry about you getting your second foul and being out most of the first half.
  14. Yeah, totally agree. Same with Rick Majerus. No NCAA appearances in his 1st four years as coach. Only one in his entire tenure here. He coached a team that only scored 20 points in a game. Even in the season we went to the tournament, he lost a non-conference game to Loyola Marymount. Also lost to Rhode Island that year and they ended up with a 7-24 record. Terrible coach.
  15. The problem with what you are saying is that we weren't, for the most part, grabbing rebounds of missed shots. When its late in game and the other team is coming back on you, it is because they are making their shots or making free throws. This means that there is not an opportunity to grab a rebound and streak down the floor. If you are inbounding the ball, and you are under pressure, you have to take special care to make sure you don't turn it over. If you do it the right way, the way Majerus taught it as well, you slowly work the ball into the other team's end without turning it over. Running for the sake of running is the last thing you want to do when being pressured in your end late in the game, especially when you are inbounding the ball after the other team makes a shot.
  16. Played well enough to win and inexplicitely couldn’t hit free throws.
  17. The #13 team in the country is not good? I think very many people who know a lot more about basketball than you would disagree.
  18. Typing this with 12:00 left. Regardless of the final outcome, this is a great effort against a #13 team on the road.
  19. Jordan leads the Wizards in rebounds in the game going on against the Heat with 6 despite not starting.
  20. My group is going to the Davidson game this year. Staying in downtown Charlotte. Already have our tickets. We have 20 guys going. Let me know if you are going.
  21. Just checked the stats on ESPN.com to see if he was getting any minutes and saw that he started. What a great moment for JG.
  22. Was anybody from this board at the game? Wondering how many SLU fans were there.
  23. We are 2-1 in our big four non-con games. Any of us on this board would have taken that before the season.
  24. Totally agree with Majerus Mojo’s thoughts. Good teams sometimes lose and sometimes they lose big. We are not going to win every game. Nor will any team in the Top 10. We can’t control the fact that non-power conference schools get their losses forgiven more than we will. Knowing that is not going to magically make us win every game. So far, in our big four non-con games, we are 1-1. Let’s stay positive and see what happens.
  25. My opinion is that we shouldn't be helping the other team's fans attend our games just so that we can get an extra 300 or 400 people in the building. They're opposing fans. Screw em.
