  1. I was ok being in the camp of waiting on the announcement until the tournament was over, theorizing better or more publicity would be garnered. Im not ok with: "One can only surmise issues that posed additional obstacles: better pay for assistants, the hiring of a full-time video coordinator, perhaps adding another recruiter/coach." Biondi continue to allow his insatiable ego to get in the way of what's best for SLU. Hiring Tom Keefe as the dean of the law school because Biondi wanted to eff the law school faculty, is one of many examples of his poor leadership. In the meantime the basketball program will not be permitted to reach its potential. Sad but true.
  2. Good discussion and I agree St Louis is not a hot bed for D-1 talent. In looking at the Post's listing of current college signees, only Berry (Butler) and Hill (Illinois) have signed on with prominent programs. Even then there will only about another 6-7 signees with schools such as Western Illinois, Holy Cross... The girls on the otherhand, at least currently, are doing much, much better.
  3. KM MM and JJ need to drive and kick out -passing it around the horn aint getting it down
  4. I cant say Im overwhelmed by Oregon's play as much as Im underwhelmed by ours--sluggish, not crisp, flat
  5. I've had this thought for sometime. If SLU and UD left now, along with the others, it would leave the A10 with 10 teams. Maybe there's a reluctance among the Big East leadership to not gut the A10 all at once. I note the well wishes from the A10 today-they could have easily offered the proverbial "no comment". Sure there's other reasons for the staggered league additions but this may make sense. As an aside, what will the A 10 do? Who wil it add, and if SLU is not in the Big East, who'd we want? Valpo, Belmont. .
  6. I couldnt agree more. Creighton is a recognized national basketball power. Why wouldnt the Big East want them in right away? And the trashing of Omaha and its market is largely irrelevant. A Creighton-GTown, or a Creighton-Marquette, or a Creighton-Villanova matchup will be a national draw
  7. The more important Joe Lunardi has SLU as a #5 seed, playing Belmont as a #12, and SLU moving up. I would think winning the A 10 would at a minimum push the Bills to a #3 seed. VCU -6 Butler-6 Temple-12 LaSalle-11 Odd that LaSalle is on the bubble but a higher seed then Temple.
  8. I hope the athletic department offers up conference champs hats and shirts for sale
  9. Yes, that's exactly what I meant. But in the end we'll be in the new BE.
  10. Traveling around today I listened to a fair amount of sports talk radio. Both Rammer and Bernie, while making it clear they did not have inside information, were of the belief SLU was in when the new BE went to 12. It didnt sound like they were hedging. On a lesser note both Rammer and his partner were firm that if SLU didnt get in, they thought the MVC was SLU's best option. That would not be my preferred choice. I'd rather wait and see what the A10 did first and who they might add, as was discussed in other threads. If Valpo, Belmont and some others were added, A 10 may still be the best option.
  11. There's a $2 million fee to be paid to the A 10 if less than 1 year's notice is provided, so reported. Maybe SLU and others dont want to pay the $$, even with the better TV money it may be less than a wash.
  12. I like the "Hog is in the tunnel"--maybe that can be the Bills theme for the rest of the season
  13. Katz was an idiot a week ago; he remains an idiot today.
  14. The three teams immediately above VCU lost as well this week. VCU beats X, I think they'll remain in top 25 but if they slip, only a few notches.
  15. Ive said it before --the only pollster that matters is Joe Lumardi. Year in and year out he gets it right on who's going in, and he gets the next four out and the first four in right as well. Now we're a 9th seed
  16. My take is the refs didnt know which way to call the game. At times they were making ticky tack calls; then next missing the thuggery that was sometimes at play. I was a bit dissapointed we had some difficulty with the pick and roll in the paint, that gave their big man an open lane to the hoop. It happened in the Butler game as well. Im sure they work on this and will get better. I was also impressed with the depth of VCU's bench, as I am with ours. Great win
  17. Sagarin--29 Pomeroy--34 CBS--45 Lunardi--44, and an 11th seed. Temple in the group of 4 last out. Average RPI for remaining 6 games: 66 I would have taken Charlotte and 11 1/2 and lost Purchased 2 tx in Sect 116 yesterday so maybe good seats remaining
  18. "I'd take Charlotte to at least beat an 11 1/2 pt spread. This will be a tough game." I agree. Very good post players, and savvy 6'4" guard. Cant be looking past this team.
  19. At 18-5: Lunardi/ESPN: 56 but an 11th seed. He's usually right about who gets in, within one or two teams each year. Pomeroy: 36 CBS: 56 Sagarin: 34 LaSalle ahead in most of these polls so while all the remaining wins are huge, this is the one we need most, in my opinion.
