Help me out. What year did we beat Kansas?
WUH replied to ThreeTimeBilliken's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
The only thing I remember from that game is how much I hated the idea of playing college basketball in the Dome. Otherwise, that was a good schedule with tough teams. Missouri State was good that season. Louisville, Memphis, Charlotte were all good that season. https://slubillikens.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/1998-99 -

Thanks so much for posting. Kiel Center, TWA, Southwestern Bell. The 1990's was easily the best decade to be alive. -
Kelvin Sampson making a big deal about the pronunciation of the name Gonzaga. No need to be a jerk, Kevin, or whatever... Gonzaga with a short a is reasonable given the Italian heritage of their namesake Saint.

That season feature two big moments as the Billikens beat a Top 10 Cincinnati team that season. Unfortunately, we only scored 69 points in that game so we missed the buy one get one free deal at Chevy's, but that was a pretty big win. -

I am glad Robbie Avila followed Schertz to SLU, but is Avila still the national attention bringing figure that he was a season ago? Or close to what he was?

Tuesday at 8:00 at Arkansas State.

Thanks @courtside you are the best.

Does anyone have the Spring schedule?
-
It is hard to say, I mean Drake also beat Vanderbilt and Kansas State. They beat a pretty good Bradley team twice and Belmont twice. Our schedule is clearly better but not way better.

You must be referring to the Curry Hicks Sage. UMass guy so he knows the A-10 well. He does Twitter Live shows rather than the typical podcast. He is doing a live show right now.

I do not know the cut-off, but I believe anyone who graduated since 2018 gets to keep their e-mail forever. -
I enjoy the SLU gameday experience so much that I barely even notice Guy Phillips. I do wish they brought in a DJ more often.

I do remember those years. I do not believe Porter Moser would have been fired after the CBI season and I would hold up the following season as evidence. Also, no hyphen in Loyola Chicago.
-
Loyola was not so much a dumpster fire. Instead, they were a chronically under-resourced, low-major program that made low-majors hires in Larry Farmer and Jim Whitesell among others.
-
Loyola won the Valley in his first season with most of the guys from the Sweet 16 run returning as graduate students, but got destroyed in the first round of the NCAA. I think Loyola will keep Valentine as long as he has a Top 100 or so team and the ticket sales are good. But with 6 games to go, their record will be worse than last season. 23-10 last season compared to 16-9 this season so far. They have only lost one game at home so that works in his favor.

This point cannot be overstated.

Loyola-Chicago is the Chicago area equivalent of St. Louis University. In 2025, please use only Loyola Chicago or Loyola University Chicago.

Way O.T. ,but question about clothes hangers
WUH replied to BLIKNS's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
We have officially reached the I have a way off-topic question about hangers time of the basketball season. Just three home games left. What the heck happened to the season? -
ESPN: Schertz a possible IU Coaching candidate

Jaden Shertz, I could see it. -
Swope ranks twelfth in the nation in three point attempts (second in the A-10), despite shooting a relatively mediocre 33% from the perimeter. I am not sure it is a matter of having the stones.
-
I am not sure that a guy who played for three seasons at two other universities before landing at Virginia Commonwealth can be described as staying in conference.

Hey guys, this sucks, but don't give up yet.
