  1. Right, what are they gonna do? Throw a double team at him? Can’t imagine that backfiring… I have a plan, see if he can score 35… .never done that before. It is just never that easy.
  2. I am surprised that there is not a local company, that provides a service, using this Yuri assist thing in a commercial.
  3. I just want a note that around 2/20 or so posters in this thread are showing discontent with T. Ford. It doesn’t seem that way, because the vocal minority always stands out online. But that is it, 10% negative, 90% positive or at least content.
  4. Ford will be the biggest beneficiary when they expand the NCAA tournament to 25% of the total field. We would have been in the last 4 seasons. If that is your criteria, then he is your perfect coach. My criteria for a coach to be good is that he wins the games he is supposed to win. That simple. Keep in mind, you have to keep total SLU history as the spot for that bar on an expected win, not the current level of talent or play you see from his players. By that measure, Ford is better than simply good. How good is yet to be determined.
  5. 1st- That is super misleading. His winning percentage is .600. That is the highest of anyone since 1965. 2nd- I disagree.
  6. I mentioned this in a thread, but it deserves a separate thread. Travis Ford is 6 games away from being the 3rd winningest coach in Billiken history. He would pass Spoonhour in the same number of coaching years (7 seasons). That is a pretty cool accomplishment, and we can track it here. That said, there are 6 non-conference games left if the players needed a little extra motivation to ice their competition. It might say a lot if he were to accomplish this without even having any conference games in the latest season.
  7. Your glass is half empty. You can cherry-pick failings from any coach. Majerus: situation 1, 20-point game, Kent State game, etc.
  8. Just as a note for everyone. Ford will become the 3rd winningest coach in SLU history before the end of this year (7 seasons, same as Spoonhour). Next year, if he stays, he will probably pass Grawer for 2nd, in 8 seasons (Grawer needed 10). He is on pace to pass Hickey by 10th or 11th season. Not bad. Anyone can complain, but facts are facts.
  9. Hello everyone, I would like to begin a new tradition in the Wiz’s posts. I will be providing my own analysis and prognostication for the game. However, my analysis will drawn exclusively from Astrology…
  10. I disagree. We missed free throws and Okoro played poorly. Those were the things that lost the game. Okoro missed at least 3 simple buckets. Maybe he was being fouled low and hard and had to adjust, but it looked like he was just rushing himself. He needs to play better. Also, is Ford our winningest coach yet? When will he get that, this year? I am amazed at what people expect. You would think that there would be more appreciation for year-in, year-out winning. No horrible rebuilding year. Local recruits also, which is a fun plus. It is too bad that some people cannot mentally process that a dance ticket is literally 1-4 spots away from where Ford has placed this team since 2017. No other Billiken coach has even come close to this consistency. Majerus could have, but he didn’t.
  11. Never thought I would say this this year, but here is the best lineup today: Yuri, Thatch, Hargrove, Parker, and Forrester.
  12. That is a good point. However, I do think this tough non-conference will really help us this year for conference play. We won’t be surprised an increase in tough games. I also just think we will get better and better as Perkins and Parker develop. Not to mention that, at some point, Ford will realize he needs to play Thatch more. I would not write us out of an at large bid until mid conference.
  13. Nothing better than MBM speculation. Here is mine, he is back in China, training with the men’s national team. American high school is too easy!
  14. The first half made me miss Thatch. It just confirmed my feelings that we need Thatch in the game for 30 minutes. He is a rare player, like a mini-D. Green.
  15. His limp looked almost gone over the weekend. I didn’t really notice it. It was there the first and second game. With the way he played, and physicality, I don’t think this is a limp. I think it will just take him time to get used to a different feeling in his knee.
  16. I had one and literally played through it. No days off. My knee is/was fine, no pain or complications afterward.
  17. Old Guy really knows how to put a positive spin on a loss! Talk about perspective.
  18. Maybe we should go back to comical thread titles. For example: Billicanence is greater than Providence?
  19. Every year has a bad loss. Hopefully it isn’t something that happens a lot.
  20. Was there a reason Thatch only played 11 minutes? Seems like the person who can play D and help right the ship. Is he injured?
  21. What? Because I am mad that the A10 is starting off slower than they should. You think George Mason will be bad come conference time? You want to face a bunch of Quad 4 teams with Quad 1-2 talent? Really good for the NCAA resume. I am not the only person who feels this way, I have read several tweets on the underwhelming start in the A10. I assume they have actually punched numbers on the issue. And anyway, I guess my safety fun watch is the Valley, definitely not SEC. I kind of jump around to our future opponents generally.
  22. The A10 is so obnoxious. So many teams are playing horrible now, and will find themselves come conference time. Way to help the league.
  23. This is all completely ridiculous. Don’t overthink it. Larry Hughes was a SG. Yuri is the best Billiken point guard ever. The guys from the 50-60’s frankly can’t be compared with because there were immense differences in the sport. Look, Goodwin is great, Jett is great. Neither of them would start at PG over Yuri as a Billiken. It isn’t a debate. Yuri is better at seeing the floor, making passes, and helping the team score. He is a good to great defender. He also is a decent scoring threat. Let’s just ask it this way. Did announcers ever refer to any other Billiken as the best PG in the country? Did any Billiken player get a side reference from an announcer at a nationally televised game as potentially the best in the country? NO. If the argument is that his career isn’t done and this is premature, then ok. But stop pretending Larry Hughes or Easy Ed is our best PG, or that the way a player develops after their college days is part of the analysis, or that bringing the ball of the court is the overwhelming determining factor. It is all idiotic.
