  1. Since when has Loyola of LA been competitive in any sports?
  2. He's been interim-head coach Travis Ford for 2 years now in my mind. But I can't see them making a mid-season change unless Chaifetz just can't stand it anymore. FWIW immediately after the game ended May and Chaifetz were huddled in the corner of the court and it didn't appear to be a pleasant conversation.
  3. Brad's addition and the hope of Sincere coming back are great. But they would seem to take us from a team you'd expect to finish at the bottom of the A10 to one in the 5-8th range. So sure we could have a chance at the conference tourney. Not a good one by any means, but a chance.
  4. Only 7 scholly players available now. He doesn't have a choice.
  5. Undisclosed injury. Not dressed tonight.
  6. Credit where credit is due. Impressive stuff from the guys. No matter how this turns out they've played with pride and focus tonight.
  7. That would create some interesting implications for the teams' tax status.
  8. That oddly might make it feel more pure since it at least acknowledges that many of the players are not there for the education.
  9. This is a bid by the NCAA to keep some control. They know that the Big Ten and SEC want to do something similar without them. But the fact that both sides are laying out a similar vision of the future means that something like it is more likely than not going to come to pass. it sounds like under this proposal SLU would have to dole out this much money directly to each player per year just to try and be considered to play amongst the big boys. And even then they'd be the equivalent of a shop that pays all its employees minimum wage. As bad as it sounds, that may be a better option for SLU than the BigTen/SEC proposal, which may not even offer any scenario in which SLU can opt in.
  10. The facility build out continues. SLU will be building a field hockey facility across from TopGolf per Stu.
  11. If you've ever looked at the full offerings at LU, spectator attendance looks to have been the last thing they've cared about in the past. Perhaps now that needs to change with a D1 hockey team to pay for.
  12. Given all the news of financial struggles at Webster, Fontbonne, Maryville, and Harris Stowe - they’re lucky if this is all they are having to cut at Lindenwood. LU is probably in a much better position long-term than any other schools in the area (minus WashU and SLU).
  13. No argument here, I said Ford needed to be let go at the end of the '21-'22 season and nothing that has transpired since then has made me doubt that notion for even a moment.
  14. Bruce watches, hands at his sides while a potential rebound falls to the court right in front of him. Guess that isn't on the curriculum at the "Skill Factory"
  15. Public university with twice as many alumni as SLU.
  16. This logic reminds me of Jeff Fisher and his "if you disregards that 70 yard TD, we did a good job stopping the run today." arguments
  17. What happens to the Big East might be the most interesting aspect of this. Is the brand and strength of a few programs like Villanova enough to keep them all "above the line" of relevance? Or do the power conferences determine which of these program they invite to "buy-in" to eligibility for their new March Madness? Beyond the Big East, I could see the Power 5 only allowing for auto bids from any non-power conference. In doing so they could claim to be maintaining the tradition of March Madness cinderellas while only doing lip-service by eliminating the concept of at-large bids.
  18. SLU is headed towards permanent D2 (the new version of it) status. They are not alone though as pretty much all non-state schools not already in a Power 5+1 conference are in the same state. Eventually the NIL $$ won't matter as the power 5 move towards paying players directly in arrangements that only differ from employment as a technicality. https://sports.yahoo.com/is-college-athletics-headed-for-the-great-split-we-need-to-recreate-or-relaunch-the-ncaa-160523061.html
  19. Yeah and we SHOULD be able to finish higher than 4th in the A10 more often than once a decade. But that isn't the reality we're living in is it?
  20. There is no such thing as a bad 3pt shooting team against Travis Ford
  21. Probably owes his post-up footwork to Conklin
  22. Remember when the one period Ford could actually win was the off-season?
  23. Also all their alumna are wealthy Manhattanites.
  24. The first actually exciting piece of news from the program since last November.
  25. Not saying he is going to North Texas. But sure would seem to be somewhat tied to Phil Forte leaving.
