  1. Who cares about the beginning of a game? The networks learned their lesson with "Heidi" a long time ago. I always put everything on the DVR and start watching about a half hour after it starts and fast forward through all the ads. I;ll end up at the end in almost real time.
  2. Thanks 05, my newspaper listed Paradise Jam teams TBA on ESPNU at 4:30. WRONG !!! I get to see the Billikens beat TAM !!!
  3. I wish that I was able to go to the SLUH faculty all-star vs. varsity scrimmage and reception for Coach Erwin Claggett on Tuesday, 11/20. Will he bring the Jr. Bills back to the glory of the late 50's under Coach Emmitt Hanick?

  5. What part of your body will you deface?
  6. What is the correct width? It's been so long since I have worn a tie, I'm not very hip to current fashions.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of games on TV this year instead of on my computer.
  8. Wind? What did they expect in New Mexico. Do it over the Lou and land on top of the Arch. Comeon dude, show us something.
  9. I have to defend the reputation of my state capital. #1 my wife grew up there, and I have been there numerous times. I have also been to ESL, though not in the last 50 years. So I am not really an expert, but I invite all of you out here to The Golden State to appreciate the history that was made in Sacramento and what is has become today. As to the Kings, I am afraid the Maloofs are not good people to work for. I wish Willie well in his chosen profession though. I'm also looking forward to a great season this year for my alma mater. I'm just sad that the game at Stanford did not work out for whatever reason. I also say a little prayer for RM before going to sleep too.
  10. I liked his humility. I doubt if I could resist blowing my horn about the IU team. I don't remember his name or how much he played, but he handled the interview very well.
  11. Did anyone go to this? It must have been sad after the murder of one of the players. How about a report?
  12. I've got over the disappointment, booked a trip to Cabo for the first 2 weeks in December. I guess there is no use getting excited about anything until it is official. You would think I had learned that lesson by now.
  13. I wish that I could be there. I saw the VB ladies beat X at the Alumni Weekend in 2010, most impressive. In fact after watching lots of VB and very little BB in London, I have to say I enjoyed the VB more. And I'm not only referring to the beach game. I saw the US men play Brazil at USF in an exhibition right before the LA games many years ago. Seeing it in person was amazing. The green & gold fans kept a samba beat going the whole time. The gym was rocking, it was really fun. I'm already looking forward to 2016. Please support the VB ladies.
  14. I am really upset as is my pal Bay Area Billiken and all the other alums and fans that live out here. He must be out of the country since he didn't comment on the law school dean thread.
  15. Great concentration, flawless form, did any of you blokes notice she won the race going away?
  16. this fan is NOT HAPPY about Stanford. I have it penciled in my calendar for Sunday 12/2. Please make it happen coach. Everything else sounds hunky dory as one would expect. Thanks for the report 09.
  17. How do you define "reasonably easy"? It's about 40 miles south on the peninsula. Sunday should be a snap unless the 49ers have a game at the 'Stick. Take 280 rather than 101, a much prettier drive, if you care about the scenery. By the way, those of you who are interested in the drive down 101 from Seattle should check out today's Parade magazine "Road Food Special" article on page 8 about eats along the Oregon Coast. You drive all along the coast in OR, lots of neat things to see and places to stop, like where Lewis & Clark camped at Fort Clatsop near Astoria.
  18. Usually SLU has a get together before the games I've attended out here and the game ticket puts all of us together close behind the bench. I'm assuming they'll do it again. Meg Connelly is the lady to talk to in the athletic department. By the way I'll check if the Stanford Sports Museum will be open on 12/2 and let everyone know. It's right across from Maples and worth an hour of your time. Very impressive list of Olympian alumni, and other curious exhibits.
  19. Sorry Willie, I made that trip a few years ago in 4 days, taking my time along the way. Just reminising, I guess. If the weather's good, which it should be then, I highly recommend the drive. Or fly down to SF and party hardy. I live 88 miles north of Stanford and figure on a minimum 2 hour drive down there. I wish I had room for everyone, but the wife may object a bit. Besides my house in in the country, so you may get bored watching the grapes grow. I look forward to meeting you at the game and party before tip-off.
  20. I have the Stanford game set on the calendar. It looks like a great week long trip for the team and any of you fans East of here who would like to come relax after Thanksgiving and before the holiday rush begins. The drive down Hwy 101 from Seattle to Palo alto is one of the prettiest in the world. Around the Olympic Peninsula, Astoria, the Oregon Coast, the Redwood Empire, Avenue of the Giants, Sonoma Wine Country, over the Golden Gate Bridge through San Francisco down to Silicone Valley. It doesn't get much better than that.
  21. They don't march of course at Maples, but they always rock "All Right Now" and the Dollies out shimmy the Saintsations. It's a good atmosphere. There is a fabulous museum in the athletic offices across the way, next door to Maples, and a cool life size statue of Hank Lusetti pioneering the one hand shot. SLU definitely needs a statue of "Easy Ed" at it's place like that. The campus is beautiful as befits a robber baron's farm.
